Were you just trying to get a couple guys off their feet there late or was there any- a little bit of cramping for Louie.
Okay.
So that, that was the initial move, and then after that, just kind of the way things are laid out right now, there's not much we can do.
It'd be nice to get Raffy and Willie off their feet a little bit.
But kinda the only move left to do there was get Ramos a little bit of time off his feet.
He was gonna hit there if he would've come up, but if not, we sent Gilbert out on D. How do you assess Carson's work?
It was rough.
I mean, they bum rushed him a little bit.
Got to the fastball.
Change-up's obviously a big weapon for him, and it had been in the starts he'd been successful in.
Just didn't get to that point until deep in the order, the, the bottom of the order the first time through.
We've talked about slider before with you guys.
There were Kinda, kinda like we talked, at Oracle, some of them were really good.
The ones that weren't, weren't.
So at the end of the day, it's good offensive club.
He didn't have his best stuff.
You're gonna get hit a little bit in those cases, but you gotta be okay with getting hit and keep attacking the zone.
And, heck, I think we could've tacked on last night, but their guy absolutely flooded the zone, so you gotta give him a little credit as opposed to us not pushing more across.
I think they had a similar offensive night than we did.
Last night it was just, there's too many walks sprinkled in on top of it.
What would you make of the at-bats tonight?
The at-bats?
You know, couple balls driven that we don't get a hit out of.
Too many choppers to third base, six hole for sure.
Gets to be in a difficult position when you get punched in the mouth repeatedly right out the gate.
I think, you know, they, they did what they did.
Presented, you know, some match-up stuff to us.
Didn't go in our favor early, but there was still a lot of game left.
And, I mean, it was a very well-struck ball, but if we can sneak out of that inning and it's still be four to nothing when we brought Hauser in, I think it'd change.
But obviously they need to be better.
We want them to be better, but their guys threw well, too.
And I think the velocity for Carson the last, couple times out hasn't been what we saw earlier.
Is, is he gonna need a little bit more than, than what he's had the last few weeks or- In order to have success?
Yeah.
Y- you could easily argue that.
But I think, again, with the change-up being a good weapon for him, if the slider does improve and he's throwing more strikes, there's guys in the league with less stuff getting things done.
So, it certainly helps, especially, again, Maile, Wiz, you're, you're doing something to take pace off with change or split or whatever it might does, or whatever you might do.
It makes a difference.
But it's something we've talked about and looked into for sure.
With, with, Buster coming out and saying he's docking batters pay until he gets right physically, what does that mean for you and the team?
To be blunt, here I don't, it doesn't mean a lot.
I mean, I'm aware of it, but it, you know, was right before the game, so I haven't really dove much into it.
I'll do whatever's asked of me, but we got our hands full here.
So the guys that are present, and it's not like, you're not mindful of Smitty or anybody else that's not here, but the guys that are here are the most important.
And obviously, you know, this is still very meaningful to us, what's going on, and we know how meaningful it is to other people, so trying to dump everything we got into having the at-bats you want and throwing the pitches where you want, and come out of here with a series win is still an opportunity.
Carson, so fastball command wasn't, allowing you to get to some of the other pitches maybe tonight?
It didn't help me out for really anything is what it felt like.
Gotta make better pitches.
Where are you at with the sinker?
It seemed like some of the misses there are maybe probably a lot bigger than we want and- Yeah, I mean, it's still a new pitch.
Just trying to get comfortable with it.
I feel like I'm under it too much right now instead of getting on top of it and get it to the bottom of the zone.
What about the slider?
How do you assess that tonight?
I thought the slider was really good.
Made one mistake with it, the home run.
But other than that, I feel like it's come pretty good so far.
So what kind of game plan were you sort of figuring out that they might have against you tonight, or what's your thought process facing this team?
Honestly, I kind of talked with a few people.
Just couldn't really figure out what they were looking for.
Seemed like earlier they were looking for everything hard, and then as it went on they switched to soft, so it was kind of just back and forth with everything.
Kinda had my four movement, but they did do a great job of it.
