I gotta start off with, Perdomo.
Yeah.
Talk about how outstanding he was.
He, he was phenomenal.
I mean, he attacked the strike zone, and they were able to do some things against him, but any time they did, he kind of bared down, had a lot of poise to him, and seemed to find a way to get out of, I don't even want to say trouble, but just anything kind of snow- snowballing on him, and, showed a lot of savvy out there.
He looked like a veteran pitching.
Could you talk about the, the pitches that were working for him?
Yeah, I mean, his fastball's always, kind of his go-to pitch and going for him, but he used his changeup a lot.
And then obviously s- the slider was good, too.
I mean, the two off-speed pitches were in and out of the zone enough, and he mixed them in a whole bunch, too.
So I mean, to me, I didn't pick up on any specific patterns that he fell into, so overall he's effective with his whole mix.
I gotta ask, how disappointing was this loss?
It's pretty tough.
I mean, you're up ahead of the whole game.
I mean, it's, it's tough to have the feeling like two's gonna be enough, with their lineup and of course playing on the road.
But some of those guys, like Seymour, have been really good for us as of late in the bullpen.
He in particular, he's been outstanding as of late.
He's just He's also carried a heavy load for us, too, and it just wasn't as sharp today.
What was, what was wrong with him today?
You know, a couple of those breaking balls backed up.
You know, the one wasn't obviously, where he wanted it to be against Bichette, but also, not as crisp, you know, to the lefties.
They all took good swings against him.
No matter what happens, you guys gave it a good run in New York.
Yeah, I mean, it was a good, good effort on the road trip.
You hate to call it a, a good or certainly wasn't a great road trip.
We, we lose one more than we won.
But we were in it every game, and these guys got a lot of experience and get to go home and hang out in Oracle Park for a while now.
You gotta like what you gotta see from Perdomo the rest of the year.
Yeah, I think so.
I mean, w- with some of the guys, we're mixing and matching.
He, Marte, Molina, Tugboat, those young guys, you know, they all can go a lengthy outing for you.
So we'll see how we mix and match a little bit, but he'll get another start before the year's out, and everyone'll be looking forward to it.
Could you talk about the, the game plan you and Perdomo had?
Because obviously it was, he was outstanding.
Yeah.
It was just a- attack the zone with the off speed and throw the heater up, up and away, and move it away and in and just kind of keep them off balance.
That was just the, the plan of attack today.
Could you talk about when you first saw him, against Pittsburgh?
What impressed you the most about him, and then he carried it over to now?
Yeah.
I've, I've caught Perdomo for, two or three years now through the minor leagues, so I'm pretty familiar with him.
And especially going into this year, he's just been so dominant and just attacking the zone and, and landing, putting the spin in, in the zone, too, and just being competitive through every at bat.
And I saw that in Pittsburgh, and he carried it over to today.
W- was he nervous at all in any w- in any way?
No, Perdomo's a, he's a cool guy.
He's, he's, he's chilling.
So yeah, he's, he's good.
I have to ask you about the, the eighth inning.
What, what happened there?
I know that, Carson gets the bulk of the work- Mm-hmm and he can't do it all all the time.
Yeah, he's been, he's been great for us all year, and sometimes it's gonna happen.
It's just, it's part of the game, and he's our, he's our dog.
We're gonna roll with him every time, so- Mm-hmm it's just part of the game.
What happened with, Bichette there?
Mm-hmm.
Just slider he got extended on and, yeah, that, that's pretty much it.
First off, how was it to have your family, in the stands?
I understand you were talking to them after the game.
