Trevor Rogers Steers Orioles Against Challenging Rays' Lineup

Trevor Rogers aims to lead the Orioles to a win, pitching tonight against the Tampa Bay Rays' struggling offense and bullpen. Joe and Scott give their picks.

Video Transcript

Trevor Rogers going for the Orioles tonight, and he has been a first five cash cow for me this year, Scottie, because he is a guy that limits the runs, limits the contact early in games, gives his team just enough, you know, just enough of a cushion to eventually, yeah, lose.

Because the bullpen's been a hot mess over there.

If they can figure out if Pete Alonso's balls are ever, you know, fair or foul- when he hits a home run, they might have an actual shot here.

But I if it ain't broke, I'm not fixing it.

I don't like what I've seen from Tampa offensively.

Look at this last series against Toronto, and I think a quality lefty like Rogers, yeah, I'm, I'm expecting fewer runs early in this game, not more runs.

Yeah.

I'll s- and I'll say this also about Tampa Bay be- before I mention the game itself, right?

So they lose three out of four to Baltimore, and then they lose two out of three to Toronto, as you mentioned, all, all at home, Joe.

And then you look at the rest of their schedule, they got the Phillies.

Yeah.

They got the Yankees four-game series.

They got the Red Sox.

They got the Astros.

They got the Atlanta Braves.

They got the- Yep San Diego Padres playing better.

They got actually the Mets, which normally would be great, but the Mets are actually playing really good baseball.

Their schedule the rest of the way i- is really, I mean, there's not A- except for one series against the A's, everybody else, a- and the Mets, who are hot, are either battling for a playoff spot or, or playing good baseball right now.

So they do- Yeah have collapse.

You know, not to the point of not making the playoffs, but they do have collapse, you know, kind of written all over them as far as, you know, th- they're just not playing, you know, well the rest of the way, and then maybe having the Yankees or Red Sox, you know, win that division.

So, but I'm with you.

Wi- with Baltimore, I would take a flyer if I was gonna do it.

You know, the, the way that Tampa Bay somehow or another has been able to win these games, I would do maybe Orioles team total, you know, three and a half or four and a half, depending on where you do your shopping.

I think they get the Peralta.

You know, they, they, he, he lost to him last time out.

He's given up 12 runs in 14 and a third innings, with- Yeah with Tampa Bay in his three starts.

So it's, it's been the kinda same old, same old story.

So I, I would go Orioles team total, rather than the Orioles, you know, in the game.

Yep.

I like it.

I think the O's are early and often in this one there, and then it's a matter of whether the O's bullpen, can hold up in that match up there.
