Rex, what'd you make of the week of world number one, Scottie Scheffler?
I was the one who called this Grand Slam season.
I almost, you know, thought we could book a seventh career Grand Slam going into Shinnecock Hills.
Your thoughts on where Scottie is and his week on the whole.
Damon, I'm not gonna leave you alone on that ledge.
I think all of us we're on Scottie Scheffler bandwagon coming into this week because of what we thought we knew about this golf course.
It's a second-shot golf course.
It's what he does best.
It seems as if he was rounding into form at the perfect spot.
You and I both were talking to his swing coach earlier in the week, Randy Smith, about where's his head space, and he goes, "He's happy."
We don't hear that about Scottie Scheffler, at least when it comes to his golf swing, very often.
I think what you ended up with, and even Scottie seemed a little bit confused about this on Sunday when we spoke to him, there's something not quite right on Sunday, whether that's mental or physical or a combination of both.
He is ruing the idea he got off to such a bad start because he essentially spotted Wyndham all of those strokes that he could have used on Sunday.
The conversation we had on the podcast last night, and I thought it was an interesting one, how long is it going to take Scottie to get to that career Grand Slam, to win that US Open?
We kind of put the number at three, and I don't know that he does it in three because we- we're now starting to see how hard it is to get there.
It's certainly gonna be difficult next year at, at Pebble Beach.

I think you're exactly right.
Scottie Scheffler spotted Wyndham Clark eight shots, and obviously, I thought it was a pretty admirable grit, and determination that he showed just to, to be up for the fight and to give himself a chance by being in the final group o- on Sunday.
But it's very confounding for Scottie Scheffler, a player who over the past couple years in the PGA Tour has led the PGA Tour in first round scoring average.
For whatever reason, this has been sort of the theme of his 2026, getting off to slow starts and always playing catch up.
