It's June 1st, and you know what that means.
The football world is scrounging for news.
Denny Carter, there's some real practices going on, but now rosters are set.
We're kind of just in a holding pattern for training camp when the real news, begins.
so that means things kind of get manufactured this time of year a little bit.
the press, local and otherwise, may be trying to manufacture a quarterback competition in Minnesota, where it definitely appears as if Kyler Murray was signed to be the starter.
There's been some steam for J.J. McCarthy of late.
We weren't really buying into it.
Now, ESPN's Kevin Seifert reports the gap between the two really was not close- Mm-hmm in spring practices.
Do you agree with that, and what does Kyler Murray still mean to this Vikings offense?
Yeah, I mean, you know, J.J. McCarthy not taking this all that well, as you, as you would expect.
I think his only path to playing time this year is a Kyler Murray injury, which, you know, could happen.
You know, he has a long history of injuries, including last year when he o- only played five games.
Look, things couldn't get worse for Justin Jefferson and Ad- Addison and T.J. Hockenson, than they were last year.
It just doesn't get worse than that as far as accuracy goes, as far as quality of throws go.
So if Kyler Murray is just a little bit better than McCarthy was last year, which I think he can be, should be a pretty big improvement for Jefferson and the rest.
I want to note that, Kevin O'Connell's offense has always been among the top three, top five pass heaviest teams in the red zone.
you know, that could produce a lot of touchdowns for these pass catchers if Kyler Murray is up, up to the task.
You know, maybe this is a manufactured storyline, but it is a storyline all the same, and we'll keep you updated on the situation.
