The Washington Nationals have sent down one of their top players after a disappointing spring training

The Washington Nationals made another marquee move on Friday afternoon after sending two players down to AAA Rochester to open the twenty twenty-six season, including one of the top, draft picks, in the organization.
I am Ami Ghafir, covering the Washington Nationals for Roundtable IO, and it's, outfielder Dy-Dylan Crews who is now sent to AAA Rochester, where he will open the twenty twenty-six season looking to get back on track.
Crews is coming off a disappointing spring training where in eleven games he's posted, eleven strikeouts, batted one oh six, and drew four walks.
and again, what has been a disappointing spring for him, has struggled with contact, has struggled with his whiffs as well, while he has been responsible for a handful of errors through spring training.
and again, he was one of the more disappointing storylines through the month, as the Nationals at one point were struggling with offense before the bats were able to kind of pick it up this past week.
but again, Crews, now headed to AAA Rochester to look to get back on track.
he becomes the latest to join, the AAA Rochester team.
he was one of two players announced on Friday joining Jackson Rutledge, who, made a handful appearances, with mixed results through spring training.
meanwhile, Robert Hassell III will join, Crews down in AAA Rochester after the team made his announcement on that roster decision a few days ago.
meanwhile, the roster decision also, looks to solidify the Nationals outfield with now Jacob Young and James Wood rounding out, the final two spots, with the right field, up for grabs with Dylan Lyle, in the mix there.
So we'll see how that materializes.
But, as for Crews, he'll get a chance to get back on track or develop some consistency as the move will now, potentially impact his path to free agency and arbitration down the line.
if he plays two months in Rochester, that could, impact and push his timeline back another year.
That is a later question to be asked as for now, Crews will, as mentioned, look to get back on track.
