So the Mets, just in any pursuit of recouping talent, I mean, And Bellinger and Kyle Tucker are the big-name free agents.
But the Mets also have a lot of homegrown prospect talent that they could move for.
Whoever they wanted, really.
I mean, they have a bunch of talent at the prospect level.
They have a bunch of young pitching.
There's a couple of mock trades.
I know we covered the Padres, too, as a part of our show.
But this mock trade, Ryan Phillips of Sports Illustrated, because, you know, Right now it's the hot stove season, it's kinda gotten cold.
So people are trying to predict the next big blockbuster trade.
So fellas, just let me know your thoughts on this hypothetical mock trade between the Mets and the Padres.
So the Mets would get Mason Miller, Nick Pivetta and Ramon Laureano, and the Mets would send away Carson Benge.
Their number two prospect, Jonah Tong, their number four prospect, AJ Ewing, the number seven prospect; and Will Watson, the number 10 prospect.
And a collection of some lower-level guys.
But Ryan Phillips of Sports Illustrated threw that mock trade out there recently, and you know, if you're, If you're the Mets, do you pull the trigger on this?
Bob, you wanna go first or you want me to go first?
Um, I don't have a lot of productive feedback on that.
'Cause I'm not... Me personally, I'm not a huge guy on mock trades.
I don't like entertaining them very much.
Not in a negative way.
I just don't really understand, like, random prospects that I've never watched in a single inning of.
Compared to Mason Miller, who is the best reliever in baseball.
So, I'll let you take it away there.
Well, I have two simple words: it's just hell no.
Um, this trade sucks, I'm not gonna lie.
Uh, I'm a big fan of, uh, Benji and Tong, both of them.
I really like them.
I don't know enough about Ewing or Watson, But I just... You're giving up way too much high.
Like, high-level talent, at least from their Minor League system.
For guys like, at least Mason Miller.
I like...
I love Mason Miller.
I think he's obviously one of the best relievers in baseball.
Uh, one of the most unhittable, for sure.
But I think they're just giving up way too much young talent in this trade.
And a lot of the homegrown guys that...
I mean, I'm a big fan of Tong, especially.
I really like him.
And I just, you know, I just, I just don't see it.
I don't see this being, making sense.
