Video Transcript

Yesterday we're just getting all the sound from the Forty-Niners.

Their tight end George Kittle talked uh about Evans and what the star might bring to San Francisco's game plan.

Every single day that I see Mike, I just go, wow, Mike Evans is here.

And I think I'm annoying him at this point, but it's still, I pinch myself every day.

If you look back at the 49ers, this is like the first, like, legit veteran wide receiver I've had on my roster since Emmanuel Sanders in 2019, in my opinion.

He takes ball incredibly seriously, and I think that just kind of sets the tone for the wide receiver room, especially when you have a bunch of young guys in there.

I think it's just very beneficial to the Niners that he's here and it's not just his playmaking ability, but just how he treats it every single day.

I just wanna continue to do what I've been doing my whole career, you know, that's making plays, uh, being the, the ultimate team player and the ultimate playmaker.

So now our roster is a great roster.

We stack up with the best of the best in the league, so it's not taking these, these opportunities for granted.

I like when George Kittle has awareness.

He's like, I'm probably bothering him at this point, the fact that he's just awestruck that Mike Evans is in the locker room.

Uh, Tom, what do you make of this comment that the 49ers now stack up with the best of the best in the league considering again, Super Bowl champion in your division and whatever the Rams just stood?

Yeah, no.

Sure, Mike, Mike Evans is the level of consistency he's had throughout his entire career, so many 1000 yard seasons.

It's crazy, Jamie.

I actually talked to, I was, I ran into Mike Evans this past weekend in Dallas.

He's the head coach of a youth girls basketball team.

Let's go.

The Lady Hornets, they were, they were out there battling.

We talked a little bit about the Saints and Bucks days or whatever, but he's super excited about everything happening in San Francisco.

I'm excited for them as well.

They, they brought in a lot of veteran pieces, a lot of proven pieces.

The only issue in San Francisco is health, durability.

If those guys are able to play the majority of the season, they will be towards the top of the NFC.

I need to know more about the late.

Hornets, is his daughter on the team or something?

They've got a great recruited shooting guard.

Like why is he coaching this basketball team?

This is, this is his passion.

It was news to me too.

I, I was like that Mike , and he's huge.

That's a big receiver.

So he's standing over there.

He's, he's coaching those girls up, yelling at them, you know, press the floor and all those good things.

It was fun.

Can you imagine Rap Sheet, Mike Evans just barking at refs, or do you think he's like all class at an AAU tournament?

I mean, we're just being honest, that's what people say about watching Kyle Brand coach third base at our local like I mean aggressive yeah he's chirping, he's waving, he's clapping.

There's some high fives when the guy makes it to 3rd.

There's, there's a lot going on.

Meanwhile, I'm sitting in the back.

I'm eating seeds.

I'm, I'm on my lawn chair, on my sunglasses.

Ian's on his phone.

Trying to get news about Brandon Ayuk and the bleachers and oh my God, we're gonna get to Brandon Ayuk in a second because I think it's safe to say there is, there is a lot there that we need to get to.

Uh, a couple of things from, from some of that sound we played.

First of all, um, I can only imagine the 49ers receivers, the other receivers, and they do exist, listening to George Kittle, who is right, by the way.

I mean what he meant was a true number one.

He's right.

Mike Evans is the closest or really the only one they have had in a very long time, and Emmanuel Sanders was awesome.

I'm not sure he would qualify as a number one receiver, more like a kind of 1A slash 2.

The Rams acquired Miles Garrett.

We just talked about that.

Perhaps you've heard.

The 49ers early in their, in the offseason got their own, and that really is what Mike Evans is.

Right, I mean, he is the kind of guy who can take this team and take them from being really good to over the hump, to be the guy who in the red zone when you gotta have it, you throw to him with the game on the line, and he is going to box out because as we know, he is a great basketball coach and he's going to go get it.

Like if the Forty-Niners are healthy and as Tyron just explained, I mean, obviously that has been a huge issue.

I don't see why they aren't as good as any of these teams, as Seattle, as the Rams.

I mean, there's a lot that we're going to get to about the Rams, and you're right, they're going to be the team that we're going to be talking about, love them or hate them this year in this division.

I feel like if there's a separation, it is really, really small.

To me, the 49ers got better this offseason, as did the rest of the teams in the division.

They did, and the Niners have to because they have last year's Super Bowl winner in the division.

They have next year's Super Bowl winner in the division.

We already know that, so they have to do something.

But yeah, here's my comparison, Ian, and you'll love this.

I look at Mike Evans joining the Niners, and I think of.

Super band.

I think of Velvet Revolver.

I think of Audio Slave where they take someone from another band and they put them together and it's like Scott Weiland is with Slash and Chris Cornell is with Tom Morello and you're like wow this is so weird.

You're from two different bands, but.

I actually really like the new songs that you're doing, you feel me?

Do they do that?

This is like when the Traveling Wilburys, it's exactly like the Traveling Wilburys, and look, there's two different entities together.

Mike Evans was supposed to be a buck for life.

He's like Mr. Buck.

I've said it a million times.

I think he's the greatest buccaneer ever.

I was shocked.

I think he was shocked.

I think George Kittle was shocked when it, maybe Jason Light was shocked too when he was no longer a buck.

But I don't know if Mike Evans is gonna have 95 catches this year, but I feel like he's gonna have it when it's, there's 2 minutes left and they're, uh, at Seattle and Brock Purdy needs somebody and you throw it to 13, or is he still wearing 13 in the end zone, and it's like I got a guy here who's been on the varsity for years.

I think they need it.

We're all here for this NFC West battle again, last year's Super Bowl champ, next year's Super Bowl champ, the Niners needed weapons and they got one of the greatest ones ever.
