Since Coach Ben Johnson was named the head coach of the Chicago Bears, we've seen his full personality come to light.
The nerdy, innovative, detail-oriented, and extremely demanding coach has been shared to not only every single player in the Bears locker room, but for everybody that watches the NFL.
And above all else, what Johnson is that maybe not everybody truly understands is that he is a fierce competitor, someone who embraces the physicality of the game, but also embraces the hatred that is in these rivalries, especially with the Green Bay Packers.
Quarterback Caleb Williams, he joined Cam Newton on his podcast, Fourth and One with Cam Newton, and the former Carolina Panthers quarterback asked Williams what people don't understand about his head coach.
And one of the things that Williams mentioned was that, that competitiveness.
And here's a perfect quote that really symbolizes Johnson's competitiveness and how he shows it each and every single day.
He said, Williams, "I know he has all faith in me, and he knows I got all faith in him.
So when we talk, even, he's like, 'I wanna whoop their blank by fifty.'
You know what I mean?
Some people may say that, and it feels like it's not them.
You know what I mean?
But, like him, it's true.
He really feels that in his heart, and it's nice having a coach like that, 'cause when you get up by twenty-one, it's like twenty-eight, thirty-five, forty-two.
You know what I mean?
And you keep going from there, and that's what is fun about playing for him."
Really, these two are a perfect match for each other, because what Caleb Williams wants to accomplish by the time he's all said and done with his NFL career is to win eight Super Bowls.
Ben Johnson, all he wants to do is win, and that's why last season's success, a NFC North title, a playoff victory against the Green Bay Packers, that's all in the past.
That's what Johnson has told to his team.
That's what his quarterback knows.
That's what this team understands going into twenty twenty-six.
So having two like-minded individuals at two of the most important positions on a football team, quarterback and coach, that can go a long way and can make this team a competitive one, not for just the twenty and twenty-six season, but for as long as these two are together.
And that's what people may not understand truly about Ben Johnson, but it's a perfect match for Caleb Williams because he's the same way, and that makes them a dangerous pairing moving forward.
