Yankees in Play for Japanese Slugger Teruaki Sato, Joel Sherman Says
The New York Yankees could go after Japanese Triple Crown winner Teruaki Sato as he heads toward free agency this winter, according to insider Joel Sherman. Sherman says the club has spent close to a year rebuilding its relationships in Japan, but the big question is whether Sato can handle third base in the majors. Sato hit 39 home runs with 106 RBIs and 100 runs scored last season. With third base, second base and probably catcher on the offseason list, and a lockout widely expected December 1, an outfield role could also work if the Yankees believe Cody Bellinger can still play center field at a high level.
