New York Jets May Be Playing Chess With Their Most Recent Player Tryout

Well, what do you know?
The New York Jets continuing to look at quarterbacks as they worked out former Titans quarterback Will Levis today in Florham Park.
Adam Schefter reported, here's Zach Rosenblatt of The Ath- Athletic actually had it first, as they brought in Will Levis and Jack Plummer to work out with the team.
And it's a very interesting story, to be honest with you.
Now look, Will Levis is entering his fourth season in the National Football League, was drafted in the second round by the Tennessee Titans in twenty twenty-three, started a good amount of games that year after Ryan Tannehill went down with injury.
Started the twenty twenty-four season before getting hurt, and then played at different moments, him and Mason Rudolph, and then missed the entire twenty twenty-five season as he got surgery on an AC injury in his throwing shoulder.
The Titans ran Will Levis in the preseason a decent amount.
He played last week against the Chicago Bears and ultimately was waived by the team, didn't even make the initial fifty-three man roster, and he made it past the twenty-four hour waiver wire claim, thus making him a free agent.
And guess who the New York Jets play next Sunday?
The Tennessee Titans.
Now, the Jets obviously have made some quarterback moves as, of their own as they released Bailey Zappe and Brady Cook.
Brady Cook got picked up by the Dolphins on their practice squad, and the Jets did bring back Bailey Zappe on their practice squad.
But they only have two on their current fifty-three man roster in Geno Smith and Cade Khlebnick, which is less than most teams typically have.
Most teams usually keep three guys.
And why this is interesting to me is one, obviously the game coming up.
Do they think they could get Will Levis in the building, even if it's briefly, to help them out for week one against the Tennessee Titans?
You know how big of a game this is to the organization being that they're going against former Jets head coach Robert Saleh.
You know that has to mean a ton to Jets owner Woody Johnson that they won that game.
Also, head coach Aaron Glenn is coaching for his job in year two after a three and fourteen opening campaign.
He's gonna wanna do anything he can to start off the season one and O on a positive note and win a big game.
That has a lot of pressure on this organization.
But also too, even outside of that, Will Levis is a guy that ha- has all the talent in the world, has one of the best arms in the National Football League.
It's just been inconsistency and decision-making that has held him back, even going back to quotes of him saying he needed to rewire his brain after some rough turnovers early in the twenty twenty-four season against the Bears and the Jets.
We'll have to wait and see what comes out of this.
Maybe the Jets sign him to the practice squad, which is what the workout was for, by the way, their practice squad, not their fifty-three, as Zach Rosenblatt reported.
But we have to wait and see if the Jets sign him.
Do they not sign him?
Do they sign Plummer?
Who knows?
But it is very interesting to me the timing of all this, that the first team Will Levis works out for after being waived by the Tennessee Titans is their week one opponent, the New York Jets.
