Here's Why Walmart's HART Power Tools Are Actually Worth Buying

Finding the perfect tool for the job at hand can often be a challenge, especially if you don't own many tools. Adding to your collection doesn't have to be hard or expensive, especially when options like HART and Ryobi tools exist. HART tools at Walmart might not be the "best" or compete with a Milwaukee, but here's why I keep recommending them to friends and family.

Power tools are expensive investments for many professionals, like an electrician or auto mechanic, but if you're a homeowner looking to complete some repairs or DIY tasks, many brands have plenty to offer without breaking the bank. For example, walk into any Walmart and head to the tool section, and you'll see blue and white HART tools everywhere. And they're worth buying , too.

Readily Accessible at Any Walmart

For those unaware, the HART tool name has been around since the 1980s, but it was acquired by TTI ( Techtronic Industries ) Group in 2007. The company is a large-scale manufacturer of tools and home goods. These days, HART is basically Ryobi in a different coat of paint, and they're all over the shelves at any nearby Walmart.

Along with making HART Tools, TTI builds products for several brands, including Milwaukee Tool, Ridgid, Ryobi, Hoover, ORECK, Dirt Devil, and others. Obviously, those tools are made differently, and I'm not saying HART is as good as Milwaukee, but they're not bad, either.

What makes HART a great option for regular folks is accessibility, not to mention the ever-expanding collection you'll find at your neighborhood Wallyworld. Once you buy a few, whenever you need another tool, there's a solid chance you can run to Walmart and find a HART version on the shelves.

Walmart is a massive company with retail stores all over the place, not just in the United States. That said, some of its products and lineups will vary by region, but throughout the US, you'll find affordable HART tools everywhere.

If you're starting a tool collection, you have a ton of different brands to choose from. And while it's an important decision, as you'll eventually get locked into that brand and keep using the same battery on other tools, those on a budget will appreciate HART power tools.

Not only are they affordable and reliable, as I've watched my father-in-law use and abuse them for years, but they're also easily accessible. And that's a pretty important factor these days. I don't own any myself, but I've used them extensively over the last 12–18 months with no complaints.

Large Selection That All Use the Same Battery Pack

So, what does the HART power tool lineup have to offer? Turns out that it's a little bit of everything. Like most power tool brands, HART makes a wide assortment of options, and almost every tool runs on the same battery.

Walk through Walmart, and you'll see corded, cordless, and brushless power tools, hand tools, lawn and garden accessories, cleaning supplies, automotive tools, power inverters, and more. All of that comes from HART.

Like Ryobi and many other big-name brands, the 20V battery pack on that HART drill you bought will also power an impact wrench, sawzall, tire inflator, angle grinder, or any other 20V HART power tool. This is key! The HART 20V system powers over 200 different tools, so whenever you need something new, just head to Walmart, buy a tool (without a battery), and use it at home with the battery you already own.

Again, judging by the lineup, design, and all the times I've used a HART tool, they're basically Ryobi in a different color, and they work great. And finally, all 20V HART tools have a 3-year limited warranty, while the bigger 40V tools for lawn mowers and such come with a 5-year limited warranty.

Hart Power Tools Are Affordable and Reliable

Don't get me wrong; there are certainly better tools you can buy. At the same time, everyone has a preference, and just because HART might not be the best doesn't mean they're not worth buying. That's especially true for someone who's only using them on occasion around the house.

I continue to recommend HART tools to friends for several reasons. One, I've used them enough to know they're quite reliable, and I've never had one fail or not be good enough to finish the job. I've used them to replace suspension in a vehicle, build an awning at my family cabin, and repair the deck from harsh winters. The battery packs are powerful, the tools are solid, and they're good enough to get the job done.

Secondly, HART tools are incredibly affordable. Compared to a Makita tool or something you'll find on a tool truck, you'll save a ton of money by going with Walmart's ever-growing tool line.

For jobs both big and small, if you're a DIYer looking to complete a task around the house, HART likely has a capable tool that'll help you finish it. There's actually a guy who's a handyman for a living in my neighborhood, and after years of buying expensive tools, he's switched to HART and has loved the affordability.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to preference, budget, or the intended use. You can certainly find tools that are more powerful and packed with torque, but I have a feeling a lot of regular people would be plenty happy with something from HART.
