Robyn Lady
Dranesville District Representative
Biography
Robyn Lady has dedicated her life to public education. After a decorated 27-year career in Fairfax County Public Schools, she was elected to represent Dranesville District on the Fairfax County School Board in 2023, receiving more than 62 percent of the vote.
Robyn knows our school system inside and out as both an education professional and a parent. She began her career in school counseling, working at George C. Marshall High School, Thomas Jefferson High School for Science & Technology, and McLean High School.
Most recently, Robyn retired from FCPS after spending 15 years as the Director of Student Services at Chantilly High School, where she collaborated with counselors to provide a comprehensive program of services to address each student's academic, career, emotional, and social development.
During her career, Robyn was recognized at different times as Virginia High School College Counselor of the Year and Director of Student Services of the Year. She is also the past president of the Potomac and Chesapeake Association for College Admission Counseling and served on the board of the 26,000+ member National Association for College Admission Counseling. Robyn was awarded the 2025 Apperson Award by the Potomac & Chesapeake Association for College Admission Counseling (PCACAC). The Richard L. Apperson Award is awarded annually to a PCACAC member whose career embodies the ideals of the association—providing extraordinary service to students, to PCACAC, and to the college counseling profession.
People are the focus of everything Robyn does as an education professional and servant leader. She has worked across diverse constituencies of students, families, staff, and community members and has learned some key lessons: success comes from engaging and listening to people before making decisions, and when people are empowered and supported, they deliver better results. She brings these lessons with her to the School Board.
Robyn received her undergraduate degree in psychology from the College of William & Mary, a master’s degree in education from the University of Virginia, and a School Counseling Leadership and Administration certificate from George Mason University.
An avid Washington Nationals, Commanders, and Capitals fan, she lives in Herndon with her wife. She enjoys golf, volunteering at church, and spending time with her children and her dog, Macy.
