Summer Learning Resources
Support your child's academic journey this summer!
Overview
Resources are organized by grade level and are aligned with what students have learned throughout the school year.
Families are encouraged to explore these activities at their own pace to:
- reinforce concepts
- extend learning
- stay engaged
Materials can be completed at your own pace and in any order.
Technology
These activities require a device to access. Some resources require students to log in with their FCPS account.
Students may use a home device or their FCPS school device.
To borrow a device, please see the Families: Tools and Technology page .
Support?
Need support using an FCPS issued device? Visit the Families: Tools and Technology page
Language Arts
Two Benchmark magazines are coming home:
- one about physical science
- one about economics
Each magazine provides 3 weeks of activities.
Weekly Plans
See the letters below for weekly summer learning plans for rising 1-2 graders and rising 3-7 graders. The letters include other fun ways to keep learning over summer break in your home, neighborhood, and local library.
We hope these magazines and ideas for exploring them will spark your student’s interest in physical science or economics! All of these activities are optional, but we do encourage families to help students keep learning and practicing their reading and writing skills over summer break. Research shows that kids who don’t read at all over the summer can lose an entire grade level worth of reading skills.
Digital Magazines
Digital versions of these magazines are in Benchmark Universe. Students log in to Clever with their FCPS Google username and password to access Benchmark.
