FCPSOn

What is FCPSOn?

FCPSOn means that every student at Langston Hughes has an FCPS-issued laptop. The goal of FCPSOn is to provide equitable technology access to all, students can engage in personalized, meaningful learning experiences.

FCPSOn Device Expectations

  • Restart daily:Restart your laptop every day to ensure updates are installed and to keep it running efficiently.
  • Charge daily:Bring your FCPSOn laptop to school fully chargedevery day.
  • Keep the case on:Your laptop case must remain on. Laptops without cases will be confiscated, and you'll be responsible for damage repair costs if the case is removed.
  • Charger stays at home:Keep your charger at home to prevent it from being lost or stolen. Students are responsible for the replacement cost of lost or stolen chargers.
  • No loaners for forgotten laptops:Loaner laptops are only for devices undergoing repair, not for forgotten ones.
  • Report issues to FCPS:If your laptop is broken or malfunctioning, bring it to school. Do not attempt outside repairs, as your device is covered by an FCPS warranty.
  • Use for learning:Use your laptop only for educational purposes and as directed by your teacher.  Play games, creating proxies, and tampering with the device are prohibited.
  • Digital citizenship:Create a positive digital footprint. Do not record or photograph others without their permission.
  • Protect your device:Carry your laptop by the base; never carry your laptop by the screen. Keep food and drink away from your laptop.
  • Stay focused:Give your full attention to the teacher and other students, and turn off distracting notifications.

Student Account Information

Password Recovery

  • Account Manager:  Students who wish to use the Account Password Recovery application must pre-registered a private mobile number and/or e-mail address using the Account Manager application. Students are encouraged to sign up for the service as it will allow them to reset a forgotten password 24 hours a day. If you are a student and are having problems using this application, please contact your teacher.
  • Account Password Recovery:  This self-service application allows FCPS students to reset their lost or forgotten password. To successfully use this application you must have previously supplied a private e-mail address or mobile phone number in the  Account Manager  application. If you are a student and are having problems using this application, please contact your teacher.
    • Passwords should not be changed within Google as the FCPS Google Apps password will not sync back to your network password.

Google Workspace for Education Network username and password Google Workspace for Education (GWE) allows FCPS students, faculty, and staff to communicate, store files and collaborate on documents, spreadsheets, and presentations in real time from school, work, or home, all within a secure “closed campus” online environment.
MyON

MyON offers fiction and nonfiction across many levels, and students can choose to read the books themselves or have them read aloud. There are free apps available for offline reading as well. With any of these apps, you can download up to 20 books and access them without an internet connection.
Schoology

Schoology is the learning management system that will be used in FCPS. It is a learning space that supports instructional practices aligned to FCPS’s  learning model  and help students reach the  Portrait of a Graduate goals .
StudentVUE

All middle school students have access to a StudentVUE account to see grades, classes, and more.

Mobile Apps

  • Schoology Mobile App: Download the Schoology mobile app to access your work on the go.  Check out the Schoology Help Center for information on how to access the app on your device.
  • StudentVUE Mobile Applications: This mobile app does not have all the information that the desktop version does, but it will provide students with a quick view of their schedules, health information, grades and more. Directions for accessing it is on the  new FCPS web page .

Cell Phone Policy

Per the updated FCPS Regulation, students in middle school are prohibited from using their cell phone during the school day unless they have a documented medical reason or in the event of an emergency.  Once the school day begins electronic devices and headphones must be out of sight and completely turned off.  If the device is seen or heard during the school day, the item may be confiscated, and a parent may be contacted to pick up the device.
