Our Ten Points of Pride

number oneAVID Program

Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) at Liberty Middle School is a program designed to help students achieve college and career readiness by building writing, inquiry, collaboration, and organization skills.  Our AVID students partner with "Think Big for Kids," a national non-profit that provides our AVID students the opportunity to explore diverse career paths, connect with mentors, and gain valuable job readiness skills.

Emphasis on Arts & Electives

At Liberty Middle School, we believe a well-rounded education includes opportunities for students to explore their interests and talents beyond core academics. Our school offers a wide range of engaging electives, including a vibrant performing arts program, Family and Consumer Sciences, engineering, and more. We are proud to nurture creativity, self-expression, and lifelong skills through these diverse learning experiences.

number threeWorld Languages

Liberty Middle School is proud to offer a dynamic World Languages program that helps students become global thinkers and communicators. Students can study French, German, Korean, and Spanish, as well as Introduction to Foreign Language, which builds foundational language skills and cultural awareness. Through engaging instruction, students develop communication skills, cultural understanding, and a broader perspective of the world—preparing them to thrive in an increasingly interconnected global community.

number fourRestorative Justice & Belonging

At Liberty Middle School, we prioritize a restorative approach that builds belonging and keeps students engaged in learning. Through restorative circles and our Reset & Return process, students are supported in reflecting on their choices, repairing relationships, and returning to class ready to learn. Families are included as partners through restorative conferences that focus on growth and accountability. This inclusive approach strengthens our school community and supports positive outcomes for all students.

number fiveDiverse Clubs and Programs

Liberty Middle School offers a huge variety of after-school clubs and programs sponsored by our passionate faculty! Students can also follow their passions through activities such as Debate Club, Soccer, Weight Training, Lego Robotics, Art, Get2Green, Theater, Magic the Gathering, and Dungeons & Dragons. We also support programs that compete with other schools: cross country, track & field, basketball, and Battle of the Books.

number sixGet2Green

Liberty Middle School’s Get2Green program engages students in environmental stewardship, incorporates sustainability into the classroom, and promotes green initiatives throughout our schools. We also collaborate with the community, such as the bluebird trail installed along our perimeter grounds in partnership with the Bluebird Society.

number 7Strong Family Support

We’re grateful to our creative and energetic Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and to all of our Liberty Middle School families who work with us to create an environment that empowers the academic, social, and emotional success of all students. Through volunteer opportunities, events, and activities, we help create a strong and positive school culture!

number eightWe Love Our Library!

The Liberty Middle School library is a welcoming space at the center of our school community, where every student is invited to read, create, and connect. With a growing collection that reflects student interests and voices, we make sure every reader can find something to love. Our makerspace invites hands-on creativity through fun, low-pressure crafting projects, and we collaborate with teachers to bring learning to life through engaging lessons. Whether students are diving into a book, building something new, or joining our Battle of the Books club, the library is a place where everyone belongs.

number nineHistory Comes Alive

Liberty Middle School is home to the former Crouch School, a one-room schoolhouse open from 1874 to the 1920s. Today, the Crouch Schoolhouse offers visitors a glimpse into the past with its original furnishings and artifacts. This historical site provides a unique educational experience for our students and community members, and it’s also used for Social Studies lessons, science lessons, and our After-School Program.

number tenBeautiful Outdoor Spaces

Liberty Middle School is surrounded by nature, which empowers students with hands-on learning opportunities. We even have an outdoor classroom! This includes the Meaningful Watershed Education Experience (MWEE), a science learning experience made possible by our school’s forest and water features. We provide dedicated time for students to reset and enjoy the outdoors before lunch, and our PE classes have great fields and a running trail. We also host the FCPS cross-country finals due to the size and beauty of our campus!
