=a problem or difficulty that is likely to happen in a particular job, course of action, or activity
be akin to something [ ～と同種の
=very similar to something:
be dismayed by
=worried, disappointed, and upset when something unpleasant happen
If you "are dismayed by" something, it's very similar to "being disappointed by" something.
But I think you'd probably use "disappointed" more generally and I think "disappointed" is more of an unfocused dissatisfaction. "Dismayed" is probably when you are more deeply or more strongly unhappy about a situation.
be disappointed
=unhappy because something you hoped for did not happen, or because someone or something was not as good as you expected:
Reckon I said something to hurt your feelings, didn't I?
"Reckon" tends to be used more in country areas or in the South. And for people who don't use it all the time, it tends to bring a feeling of the good warm things from the country. So in this case, it was a nice choice because the person is talking about having hurt someone's feelings and it sounds like they really didn't mean to.

in the wake of something [ ～の結果として、～に続いて
=if something, especially something bad, happens in the wake of an event, it happens afterwards and usually as a result of it

be of the opinion that [ ～という意見である
=to think that something is true

=a ceremony that takes place regularly outside Buckingham Palace in London, in which the soldiers who have been guarding the palace are replaced by others
