Middle Crisis(1)
Don Potter's colleagues wonder if it's a midlife crisis that's keeping him out of the office.

Right, the "around" means in this area very, very vaguely.
recuperate [ 健康を取り戻す、回復する
=to get better again after an illness or injury [= recover]
ditch [ 見捨てる、置き去りにする
=to stop having something because you no longer want it
cliche [ (フランス語）陳腐な決まり文句、表現
=an idea or phrase that has been used so much that it is not effective or does not have any meaning any longer:
-something [ _歳代の
１０刻みのキリの良い数字をいれて
a rite of passage [ 通過儀礼
=a special ceremony or action that is a sign of a new stage in someone's life, especially when a boy starts to become a man
rite [ 儀式、典礼
=a ceremony that is always performed in the same way, usually for religious purposes
in general English, a "rite of passage" doesn't have to be a specific ritual or ceremony. It's maybe a less relaxed sort of state or activity that most people do at a certain age or transition. I think you could say that in Japan, the "成人の日" is a Japanese example of how you can use "rite of passage" more generally in general English.
set in [ 入り込む、（好ましくないことが）始まる
=if something sets in, especially something unpleasant, it begins and seems likely to continue for a long time:
equate something with something [ ～を・・・と同等とみなす
=to consider that two things are similar or connected
"Equate" is a verb that's related to "equal." "Equate" is usually used when you want to make two things be equivalent or when you want to equalize them. You want to make them seem to be equal. It's often used when the idea of seeming to be equal is in your head.
identify something with... ともいえる
