It seems that computers, the Internet, cell phones, and other modern technologies are much less damaging to family relations than many had previously feared. In fact, a recent survey of 2,252 Americans found just the opposite. More than half of those interviewed said they believe that such technology has improved their relations with distant relatives, and 47% said that it improved interaction with the family they live with. Surfing the Internet, often regarded as a solitary pastime, can frequently be a social activity for parents, with 51% of them reporting that they browse the web with their children. Many of these parents also use cell phones to contact their children on a daily basis.
