イギリスのロックバンド、ダイアー ・ストレイツの1985年のヒット曲。

夜明けを思わせるようなキーボードサウンドに、エコーの効いたドラムが乱れ打ち。
何かが始まることを予感させます。
テレビの前の椅子にゆっくりと腰掛けた角ばったアニメのお兄さんがMTVの世界に吸い込まれて、超かっこいいギターリフが始まるんです。
久しぶりにこの曲を聴いたのは映画 キングスマン のオープニングでした。
そのイントロを聞いただけで、私も映画の世界に吸い込まれましたよ。
しらなかったんですが、スティングもこの曲に参加してるんですね。
イントロで『I want my MTV.』と歌っていて、コーラスでも参加してます。
この曲はホームセンターか家電量販店かなんかの店員さんの会話がそのまま歌詞になってるとか聞いたことがあります。
1980年代に一斉を風靡していたMTVに出てくるスターを批判したもの。
