安全かどうかも大切な問題だけれども、 それ以前に(自分の子どもの性格を考えても)必要性を感じないと説明すると、 「If I can't use the gas, you should find somebody else to treat your child teeth.」 (もしガスを使えないのなら、誰か他のドクターに治療してもらって。) っと少々ご立腹の様子。
私も彼女を怒らせるのが目的では決してないので、 「解りました。どうもありがとうございました。」と言って、 電話を切ろうとすると、 「Ooooooor, I can try to treat one by one.」 (それかぁ、、 一回で全部治療しないで一本ずつやってみるとか、、)
We call it “laughing gas” or “funny air.” This is used to reduce fear/anxiety, improve patient cooperation, improve tolerance for longer appointments. “Funny Air” is a combination of Nitrous Oxide and Oxygen which is breathed by the child with the aid of a nose piece. Your childcantalk and is aware of sounds and sights around them. Some children may take a napbecause they are relaxed. Some may havetingling fingers, toes or lips, or feel like they are on a space ride or a merry-go-round or justfeel heavy. This is not anesthesia and is not used to “put” your child to sleep. Usuallya child is clear of its effect after 3-5 minutes of breathing oxygen.
