We are off to Australia tonight for 2 weeks. Yay!!!My young brother, Cole and I are really looking forward to holding the REAL koala and feeding the Wallabies so soon.Mummy is taking me to a wild life park and Cadbury Chocolate factory in Hobart, Tasmania. I think she will go to Cascade beer factory with her host sisiter but I am not sure.We are going to stay at Mummy's host family where she home stayed almost 20 years ago. They have 2 grand children to visit them at the same time as we do so we look foward to making new frineds there. It will be fun to have Barbies everyday, go to beach every day, and to meet all Mum's old friends! We will fly off to Sydney weekend nextweek to spend Australia day with Mummy's other friends. Her friend has a boat so we will cruise around the Darling Habour and spned all day on the water which should be a lot of fun!!!!We are taking Qantas flight to OZ but taking Jetstar flight back to Japan. Mummy is a little worried to fly with jetstar with 2 young children as they don't provide full service unless you pay in the cabin. She should understand that I am always a gentleman and a helpful young man!!!Trust me, Mummy - We will be good!!

Noel takes lesson on Saturdays and he loves it as much as his swmiing lessons. I do not prefer giving the kids DS or any TV games but I'm glad he enjoys sports instead. He made new friends other than school or our apartment bldg which is also great. Noel is in blue outfit on the left Too bad his team lost the game! After the lesson, the boys had birthday party at an Italian restaurant near our house. Noel will be 6 years old on the 19th and Cole will be 4 years old on the 22nd. They are both DEC boys. Noel won a huge pear at the game time in the restaurant It was huge so we gave up the birthday cake but put the candle on the pear cake instead. With Good food, Good frineds, and Good talk, they had special time with friends. They are expecting another birthday party with friends in Narita on the 22nd which also should be fun.Happy 6th Birthday Noel,Happy 4th Birthday Cole!

I went to see Cole on Christmas play at his kindergarten today. This 3 year old kid was very excited being on the play andd I was really looking forward to seeing him. All the kids in the costumes were absolutely adorable - everything they did, they said, even little jump on the stage were so cute. I remember I was still breast feeding Cole when I came to see Noel on his 1st Chtismas play about 2 years ago but that little baby was now on the stage and did a great job - I was so touched and couldn't stop crying. Now Noel will be his Chritmas play on Monday. It's about the day Jesus Christ was born. Noel will be a sheperd. They also learned there are many people who suffer from starvation or poverty in the world. The boys decided to save up some Japanese yen(when they helped with wiping table etc) and donated all the saving to Red Cross in Africa. I was so surprised when they told me what they would like to do but I really respect what they did. Sometimes they are still babies to me but they certainly are big boys now. I am so proud of them and I love them just the way they are.

A Swedish friend of mine in Narita has opened a scandinavian style restaurant and it became my most favourite restaurant at the moment. - a few hours before opening hour - Cole oredered Swedish Meatballs.Noel asked Stefan -the cheff to make fish(forgot what it was!) in kids style. A very picky customer!! My friend and I tried Paprika soup, Onion Gratin soupLamb chops and Veal Cutlet. Never thought of theconvination of Anchovies, with lemon and cutletbut it was good!I'm definitely going back when I return to Narita next time.DARING'S Kitchen17-6 GoshonouchiNarita Chiba 286-0137 JAPANPH:0476-24-0660Near Mazda car dealer shop on route5110 min drive from Keisei Narita Station,15 min drive from Narita Airport,10 min walk from Garden hotel,I guess these are main landmarksto get to the restaurant!

The boys and I went to see my friend, Mickey and her son Marcus in down town Osaka and had very nice Hong Kong style Yum-cha lunch at Sweet Dynasty. It had been almost 6 years since last time when I saw her - she came to see me at the hospital on the next day I had Noel. The boys and I were so happy to have met Marcus for the first time. He was rather so cute and well behaived kid. It was heart warming to see the kids got along so well.We started with... Hong Kong style Shrimp WonTon Noodle Steamed Pork Buns Shrimp Xiumai Steamed Shrimp Dimsam - we orderd 4 baskets but the kids ate them all! Fried Rice Rice Noodle with ShrimpsRice flour cake with pork and vegees..My Goodnes, we were amazed how much the kids ate.I wonder how much they would eat in 10 years! My friends and I ended up with eating maybe a mouthfull of each dises. Since I LOVE mango, it's my mission to have whatever it says Mango on menu and I must tell all the readers that it was the one of the top3 Mango pudding I've ever had. It was soooooooooo delicious!!!!! I could've had 3 more of this all by myself. After lunch, we took the kids to playarea in Toysrous for a few hours to consume thier left over energy but they ended up saying "MUMMY I AM HUNGRY!!!" or "MUMMY I AM THIRSTY!" Can't you think of something else??????? Group hug before saying good-bye at a subway station.

The boys and myself visited Toronto/Canada to see my brother in-law and his family.Canada is such a fascinating country and it is my 5th visit. The boys loved spending some times together with thier cousins. They got along so well. It was funny to see elder cousin when she met her friends from kindergarten at the shopping mallI am so busy having fun with my cousins from Japan!!!We had some snow on the day we left Canada. The kids were so excited to see snow andcouldn't wait to have snow fight. Noel got up at 5am to ask me to have snow fight together.I know he was so excited but Mummy wouldn't have appreciate his idea so much...) Snow storm in Toronto at the end of Nov '07 ...but the kids had great fun at the back yard. Our flight back to Japan delayed due to maintainance problem and deicing.Who would've expected that our flight delayed for over 4 hours!!The soft toy I bought for the boys at Toronoto Airport.Cole named his moose under his cousin's name and Noel named his teddy "Sebastian Jr"from his favourite Aussie rock musician Sebastian Simich

Hi there, cousins, uncles and aunts all over the world! The boys and myself have just come back from Boston/USA and Toronto/Canada trip.It was a sad occasion to get the family together but it was also rewarding to know we have a family that truly likes everyone else and wants to keep as close as possible. It was heart warming to see the boys interact with all their cousins too.I always like Boston and always will... I don't know when I'll be back but I hope it will be soon, however, it won't be the same without Nana. I miss her a lot but I hope she rests in heaven peacefully. We enjoyed spending some times with the boys cousins in Toronto!!!We had snow on the day we left - The kids had so much fun with snow fighting. If I'm right, it was the first time for the boys to see snow. Although flight back from YYZ(Toronto) delayed for 4 hours because of Maintainance problem and deicing, otherwise everything else was just fine - at least we arrived in one piece that is the main thing!I wish we all lived closer so that all the relatives could get together more often... Family gathering on day before we left Boston... The kids in formal suits before going to funeral...

We took the boys to Halloween Festa at Universal Studio Japan last Sunday. The boys dresed up like gangsters and their girlfriends were strawberry shortcakes. They won the 2nd prize at the Costume contest with their girlfriends. After the party, we took the kids to Hard Rock Cafe for early dinner as they had another Halloween party there. All of the customers and Restaurant staff were in the costumes and some of the staff entertained us a lot. The kids enjoyed dancing on the stage as well as the boys Mum... With good friends, good food, good laugh(and danced a lot) - it was a great Sunday. The kids were out for Trick-or-Treating at our apartment tonight - the actual Halloween night. and they've got... These are only 1/3 of what they got. It would probably take them a year to eat them up really!!

It was Daddy's Birthday today. My Mummy usually set up the party for him at home.My girlfriend's family came over to the party last year. =Italian dinner at home last year. Mozzarella in Carrozza Chicken Breasts stuffed with herbs and Prosciutto Green Salad Gorgonzolla Rizotto Tiramisu Wine, wine, wine, wine.... Corn Tea for the kidsbut we went out for birthday dinner at Mummy's favouriteItalian restaurant near hour house, called La Casa.Mummy was worried because having 2 boys are sometimes louderthan 200 people in the crowded restaurant so she told me to be a gentleman at the restaurant. I tried it very hard which actually made my parents very proud of me.My brother Cole and I had Lasagne - the Chef made itin kids size for us. YUMMY!Mummy and Daddy orderd birthday special course which started with courtesy champagne. It was beautiful color - too bad that Mummy couldn'teven taste it because she was driving on the way home. 1st appetizer - Cole and I had them all.Sorry Mummy...!!! 2nd appetizerAngel Prown and grilled Eggplant with Tomato sauceI let Mummy to have it. The boys and I went to the kids festival at City Plaza hall. =some fairs were going above the library= We started with "Think Ecology" programme where they learned what they could do to protect our planet. Since Noel and Cole saw drowned polar bear in the ocean on TV a while ago(that gave them huge shock!), they started to think ecology to save the poor bear which I think it's great. They also learned how important to keep the trees on the mountain, how important to drink clean & safe water etc...Then, we joined "Make own" programme. They ended up making wire glasses that somehow fascinated them a lot and they didn't take the glasses off until we got back home. After that we went to "Play like good old days" programme. They played with some old Japanese toys. It brought me back my memories when I was a kid. They could also taste some sweets and snacks that the kids back in 60's or even before used to like. I don't have much experience eating these kind of things unless hopping into the shop with other friends and bought it without telling my parents. Well, I didn't like the taste back then anyway. Plus it contains too much artificial addtion so I just let the kids to lick or a few bites only for just having experiment. We enjoyed other kids performance on the open air stage.I think they are probably in Year 5 and Year 6 - they were really good dancers. We went back into the hall for the kids concert. It started with a famous couple for the kids show on TV. We are lucky that we could sit in the 5th row. Noel and Cole were so excited - sing along, and shake the bodies until the concert ended in hour. Noel wished his favourite singer Sebastian Simich would have been on the stage but he is in Australia so...Oh well...After that, we still remain seated to see thier favourite Ninja show. This Ninja show is originally from Catoon channel and it's funny enough on TV but this play made the kids laugh and laugh and ended up with choking with laugh. Learned a lot, Played a lot, Laugh a lot - We made the most of an autumn sunday. =on the way home...Zzzzzzzz...

I am usually optimist but not a stress free person. I had such bad weeks - absolutely no luck for me past days that stressed me out so I put my face down and scream into my pillow as loud as I could which actually helped me. Then, I had more bad news today that gave me a finishing blow. I called my Mum to sob out... What a cry baby!Luckily no one was at home so I decided to cry my heart out. I just didn't want see anyone, didn't want to deal with anyone so I guess it was good timing for me being alone. When I was about to calm down, the boys, Noel(5) and Cole(3) came home. I wiped all my tears and tried to ramain calm but my eyes are red, and swollen up so it was too abvious(--;)Noel didn't ask me anything but gave me a big hug with saying"Mummy... Like you always say, if you want to cry, just cry. You shouldn't keep your negative feeling in your mind. Mummy, it's OK. I'm with you. You know what? Use all your tears up so that you don't have to cry when you are really scared! If you cry when you scared, you can't see the way to escape, can you? Mummy, if you are sad, you should cry. That is what tears for! Let your sad feeling away.I'll give you hug. I'll cheer you up. I'm with you so don't worry! "Raising 2 boys are sometimes really handful but his word gave me confidence that what I did for them past years was right and the days we spent together really meant something. I just realized how lucky I am to have such great kids! Noel is only 5 years old - still like a baby for me but I was so surprised how he grew up both mind and body. Now happy tears are running on my face...Thank you boyse...Mummy is OK. You gave your Mummy confidence again.Your simle gives me extra sunshine in my life. I love you

My elder son, Noel likes a 11 year old Rock musician Sebastian Simich from Australia. Both Noel and Cole often ask me to play Dobby on computer. They play air guitar whenever they listen to the music that is so cute and funny.Speaking of Air Guitar, it was a heroic deed that Japanese comedian, Dainoji, the Tiger became the Air Guitar World Champion 2007 in Oulu, Finland. He won last year as well. He started air guitar because he thought it was funny but he had only a few week training before the contest. He is a chubby guy but his performance is sharp... and funny.Click here for Championship 2006Click here for Championsihp 2007This typical Japanese salaryman type of guy, Kongochi was placed as No4 at the championship. He is an actor.

The boys have been asking so many questions everyday.Last year, a 4 year old Noel asked me a philosophical question."Why was I born in this world?"I was expected the kids would ask me where they were frombut I wasn't quite prepared for the WHY question at that time.I told him that I didn't know, however, Noel came to us whenMommy and Daddy asked God to give us the best baby with love.Noel is the best present and treasure for us!He seemed to be happy. Why do my hands get wet when I touch water? Why can't fish breeth in air?Why the sun appears when the morning comes? Why is the moon following me?Why were the dinosaur extinct?Where is GOD?Where do you go when you die?His question never stops...One day, Noel asked me where my father was. Unfortuntately he passed away when I was 28 so Noel neverknew who he was. I told Noel that his Grandpa passed awayand become a star up in the sky. He was looking up the skyand saying'I wonder which one is Grandpa... He is watching us withlove everynight so I'm not scared in the night!!"Noel is now 5 years old. I was watching stars with him the othernight and he suddenly asked me with strong Osaka accent..."Mommy, if people become stars when they die,are they all bunch of dead people up there???"...no...no...no...NOOOOOOO!!!!!I didn't mean that way...

I don't know how many times I drove the boys to the hospital past weeks.Noel fell over from his bike on Monday afternoon and he needed 2 stitches under his lips.Cole has not fully recovered from tympanitis but now he has Croup again. It's warm in this winter and he hadn't had any Croup so I thought...at leastI was hoping that he became strong enough not to be Cropu but I guess I was wrong.Taking the kids to ER depresses me a lot but I just hope they will be better soon.

Our favourite Brazilian friend, Willis is going home for good on Sunday. Our boys love him - our elder son, Noel told me that he wanted togo to Brazil for Willis' wedding and he wants Willis to cometo Noel's wedding when he marries Miho. I don't know if Miho agreedabout it but anyway...Willis is such a gifted young man and everyone is sad to see him leave, however, I know he will have a succesfull life wherever he is.Noel didn't understand why Willis was leaving Japan. One night, he cried in his bed and asked me why he was leaving all hisfriends behind which made me sad too.He now understands that Willis needs to go back to his family, just like Noel wants to be with his own.We learnt so much about Brazil from Willis and hopefully we will visithim in Curitiba oneday. Until then, keep in touch and stay happy ...As I write this blog, Noel is saying beside me that I will miss you, Willis

As both of the boys were born in late December,we decided to throw a birthday party for them together.Noel and Cole invited their girlfriends Miho - 6 years old and her sisiter Mayumi - 4 years old. Yes, girls are older than them. Noel and Miho are planning to get married after college, they hope to have a daughter named 'Sakura'(means cherry blossoms in Japanese),and take care of their old parents eventually.Noel said he doesn't mind using Miho's family name and Ayami wants to use our family name. Perfect!Well kids, great imagination and thanks for saying that.I'm sure your mothers get along well and travel around the world just like we do now. Anyway... Noel also invited some friends from kidnergarten.Having 10 kids at home is very...ENERGETIC! It's like having10 typhoons at once in the very limited area but hearing their giggling, laughing and happy voice make us smile. We didn't have a party theme but I let the kids to "make" many things.I cooked kids curry with diced carrots, onions and potatos and I let the kids to usesome mini tomatos, tuna, star shaped sliced cheese, corn, chopped sausage, and somemore for the topping on the table. Every one of them enjoyed making own original curry. After lunch, they played for a while and then we had a birthday cake. The kids made a original birthday cake together with colored cocolate chips, milk chocolate chips, whipped cream, some pineapples, strawberries, and oranges on the sponge cake that I baked the day before. It was good to see that they discussed what and where to put on the sponge cake.It seemed that they had a lot of fun making but made a big mess as well. Oh well...↑Let's begin!↑Used all toppings!↑Whala!Eat a lot,Play a lot,Laugh a lot, both kids and mothers had great time.Happy 5th Birthday, Noel!Happy 3rd Birthday, Cole!= kids menu =Vegetable curry and riceToppings*chopped sausage*chicken nuggets*mini tomatos*star shaped sliced cheese*tunaHandmade birthday cakeOrange JuiceOolong tea= adults menu =Spicy Seafood Curry & RiceHavarti Cheese(Danish)Rondele Cheese Dip/Garlic&Herbs(French)Homemade Avocado&Tomato SalsaCrackersPlain&Avocado flavor tortillaAlmond ChocolateDalloyau MacaronJean Millet Chocolate cake(Yum!!)Hezelnuts flavored coffeeYuzu flavored teaGreen Tea

Ever since Jananese people found out that I was married to an American,8 out of 10 of them say how lucky our children are because theyare "naturally born bilingual" -duh! If that miracle happens, then I wish I had an American Daddy!5 out of 10 elder ladies say to our boys"Oh, should I speak to them in English?"That irritates me a lot. Because their father is an Americanit doesn't mean they only speak in English. Our kids live inJapan, our kids have a Japanese mother...Well if you really want to speak to them in English, please do.I'm sure most of them would say "Sankyuu" instead of thank you.Because our life is based in Japan and Harris is fluent in Japanese,we usually communicate in Japanese. However since English is Harris'mother tongue and he was raised in American culture, it is a goodopportunity to teach our kids what he knows.Once again, we live in Japan. Noel and Cole are surrounded byJapanese language and they spend more time with their Mommy sothey pick up Japanese words quicker than English words.Personally, I think it is possible to teach more than one language to the kids at home but one parent speaks one language is the key.Mixed language, like using English(Japanese) sentences with English(Japanese) words is the last thing I want to do.For example, something like this:See you on Nichiyobi(Sunday)! If they learn both languages half fluently, then their way ofthinking would become uncomplete. Well that's what I think. What if they only learn mixed language? I don't want to even think about it.That is why I speak to the kids in Japanse and Harris speak to themin English.Whenever I visit my parents-in-law in Arizona, I talk to them inEnglish - Broken English- but hey, at least I'm trying! Since I speak to my boys in Japanese, I am worried thatas the in-laws don't understand Japanese, I always think thatI might be being rude to them...It must sound totally aliento them.Should I speak to the boys in English when I am with Nana and Grandpy or just keep doing what I've been doing...?Oh well...

Japanese people used to think that Japan is such a safe country. Girls could walk alone at midnight, no door lock during the night...etcPerhaps, it was safer than nowadays but parents are always worried how they could protect own kids from danger at any period.Cole and I went to a drug store today. We had only 15 minutes leftuntil Noel's school bus arrived so we were kind of in hurry, BUT!this typical 2 year old son wanted to push shopping cart, wanted to put the shopping basket on the check out counter, and wanted to give some stuff in the sales clerk hands etc. Then, the srore manager gave him some sweets because this little good boy was helping his mommy with shopping .Cole thanked the manager and kept saying with lovely smile"Thank you!You know what? I am not allowed to eat this because you are a stranger. My mommy gets soooooooooo angry if I eat something from a stranger so I keep them in my hand."He is right... but he didn't have to tell him face to face...However, it was good to know that he understood that something badmight happen if he followed a stranger, especially when he was NOTwith his mommy and daddy. It's way too young for him to go out or stay home by himself but it's important to teach him early.

Have you ever heard of"Perler Beads" ??(Click here for more details)It's called 'ironing beas" in Japan.Perhaps, it's called Hama Beads in Europe.Noel is so much into these and made so many things past months.I thought it was girls stuff so I made him wait until his"Perler Beads Fever" was gone but I was wrong.Since I saw him working on it so hard with his elder girlfriend, Miho, aged 6, I thought it wasn't only for the girls but also for him.His first a piece of work was an airplane.I helped him a lot but he picked the color. Then, he worked on making a car all by himself.I thought it was great. He made another 3 cars in different colors and designs, made a yacht, and some hearts at Miho's house.Cole, aged 2 usually made Noel mad because he dumped all the bead on the floor, scared us with putting beads into his mouth,he sometimes broke what Noel made...etcbut now Cole understand what he needs to do and he actually tries to make something. What a change!I made a yacht for Cole but wow, it was a lot of work.Harris also tried and he was amazed how Noah concentrates hours with this.Usually concentration at Noels age would be like 15min or so. Noel wouldn't be the exception but not with Perler beads. He is now working of his Grandmother's(my mother)light blue colored car and also he wants to make something else byChristmas. Let's see what it will be.I'm glad we bought these for the kids.

Lucky or not, our boys were taking flights since they were infants.I was so nervous when I took baby Noel onthe flight from Tokyo to Osaka. What if he had pain in his ears? What if he cried all the way? What if something terrible happened?Check-in staff assigned me in the busineesclass and kept my next seat open which wasnice of her.Everyone, including flight crew were all ready for taking of... ane then...I felt something different on Noel.Something not good...Something smelly...Whether he was relaxed in Mommy's armsor maybe air pressure, I don't know buthe took a big XXXX in his diaper at theleast time I wanted him to!By the time passed, Noel turned 2-years oldand took the same 1st flight with his baby brother, Cole.Noel was excited with taking off and then...I was like 'Uh-oh... not again'Cole did the same thing as his brother. What is this about? DNA? Brotherhood?

Our 2-year old son, Cole is a funny guy.Even though he talks all day, he still haveenergy left to make his family laugh. It's funny though, Noel and Cole were bornfrom the same parents but their personalitiesare totally different. Both of them are oppitimistwhich is good but it seems Cole is more easy goingtype of guy.Noel would come to Mommy with tears if he was deniedto play with his buddies. As for Cole, it doesn't matter. He is in the circlehappily before they notice. Elder girls even givehim sweets to share.Younger borther/sister always know how to survivein the society, I guess. We thought he was quiet and serious kid butnot anymore. He is a boy at terrible 2-year oldthat he thinks he is going to be 5 years oldnext December! He is not even 3 yet!!Having 2 boys at home is noisy, things getbroken so easily, and how do thier white socksget sooooooo dirty that fast????Even so, having 2 boys at home is fun, and keep their Mommy young

A 3-year old boy's voice is louder than 200 people in the crowded restaurant. When you heard the toilet flush and thewords "uh-oh!", that means it's alreadyTOO LATE!A six-year old boy can start fire with a flint rock, even though 36-year old mansays they can only do it in the movies.Garbage bag do not make good parachutes.Always look in the oven before you turn it on.Plastic toys do not like ovens...... oh my God, it's so true!!!

Oh my...Noel, 4 years old, has been riding his push bike withouttraining wheels past 4 weeks and he had been doing greatuntil yesterday...What happened? He fell off and hurt his face, nose and teeth badly.I knew it would happen now or later because he is such ahot rodder! It's good that he wasn't scared at all but he scares useverytime when he rides so I don't know how many times Harris and I told Noel to speed down otherwise he will get injured really bad.... and he did ...He can only eat porridge now and he will stay home till nextweek. We'll see our Doctor again on Friday. It hurts Noel both physically and mentaly but I hope it will healsoon. What a lesson for him..!
