On May 3rd, I went to the Tokyu Kodomonokuni Line to photograph and ride the 8500 Series 8637F set, which was retired from the Den-en-toshi Line in 2023 and shortened to a 4-carriage set.
Between May 2 and 6, the 8637F set was in service for extra operations on the Kodomonokuni Line. Together with the regular trains operated by Yokohama Minatomirai Railway Y000 Series, Kodomonokuni Line trains ran every 10 minutes.
From Nagatsuta Station, I travelled on train 8637F to Kodomonokuni terminal. Watching through the train's window, I noticed many photographers standing along the railway, setting up their cameras.
First, I photographed 8637F stopping at Kodomonokuni Station from the outside of the station.
Next, I went to the Nagatsuta No.4 crossing between Onda Station and Kodomonokuni Station to shoot 8637F. Many photographers were already ready to shoot the train.
I also shot 8637F at Nagatsuta Station while it was stopping.
Each front carriage of 8637F (8537 and 8637) has different-coloured lines under the window; 8537 has red and 8637 has blue. In addition, all four carriages have a blue line only on their ocean side.
Tokyu Railways announced that the 8637F will operate on the Kodomonokuni Line during peak seasons. I want to visit if the 8637F is in service again.
