彼らは深海２００フィートまでもぐるwreck diverです。
これを読んでいて、命を懸けて冒険する人の気持ちが少しわかったような気がしました。
話の最初はダイビングの説明があり、ちょっと苦戦しましたが、ここを読んでいってダイビングの経験のない私も、自然にダイバーたちの命がけの作業にともにのめりこんでいきました。
ニュージャージー沖に沈むUボートを見つけ、６年かけてそのIDを突き止め、最後には沈んだ船の乗り組み員の遺族にも会いに行きます。
当時、ドイツでは潜水艦はiron coffinと呼ばれ、この潜水艦に乗った人たちもその家族もこの船が帰らぬことを覚悟していたようです。
非常に感動的で興味深く読める本でした。
