South Korean automaker Hyundai is usually known for its crossover SUV and sedan models, but the Hyundai Genesis Coupe has begun to change all of that since its introduction in Korea in 2008 and the United States in 2009 and as 2010 model. The Hyundai Genesis coupe has the same platform as the Genesis luxury sedan and was designed to challenge luxury auto brands like Nissan's Infiniti. The Genesis Coupe is a sports car 2+2 coupe with an FR layout. It's Hyundai's first RWD sports coupe and, despite popular opinion, is not a successor to the similar Hyundai Coupe (which is also called the Tuscani or Tiburon in some auto markets).

The Hyundai Genesis really represented a turn-around for the automaker, and it has been selling well since its debut. The Genesis was Hyundai's first shot at the luxury auto market, and it competes easily with luxury brands like Cadillac, Acura, Lexus, and the aforementioned Infiniti brand. The Genesis offers a quiet ride, opulent features, and an amazingly low luxury price. The 2012 Hyundai Genesis coupe has a starting MSRP of only $22,250 and achieves 21 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway fuel economy ratings.

The Genesis Coupe is known for its sharp handling, its beyond-comfortable ride quality, its strong 4-cylinder fuel economy, its excellent value for the features included, and its sporty cabin design. This Hyundai takes performance to another level with its amazing RWD driving dynamics, and it looks great too! This coupe comes in several trims for the 2012 year, including the base 2.0T, the 2.0 T R-Spec, the sporty 2.0T Premium, the 2.8 R-Spec, the 3.8 track, and the 3.8 Grand Touring (in no particular order). Even with its most luxurious trim (the 3.8 Track), the Genesis Coupe manages to stay just above the $30k mark starting price, at $30,750. It returns unchanged from the 2011 year, as a carryover vehicle.

Though Hyundai has yet to seriously carve out a name for itself in the "sports coupe" category, the Genesis should certainly aid the brand in its search for exposure. The Genesis Coupe is smaller than the traditional Genesis sedan, and it's also slightly less upscale, due to the fact that it's more performance-driven. The Coupe produces 306 horsepower with its features 3.8-liter V6 engine, which allows for a fun, sporty ride. This coupe competes with several other vehicles, including the BMW 1 Series, the Chevy Camaro, the Ford Mustang, the Dodge Challenger, and the Infiniti G Coupe. And, even though drivers might have heard more about these other sporty coupes, the Hyundai Genesis Coupe is here to prove that it has a ton to offer. We won't hesitate to say it easily crushes some of its competitors in terms of design, value, and performance.

The 2012 Hyundai Genesis Coupe comes with such standard features as eighteen-inch alloy wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, a six-speaker audio system, a USVB/iPod interface, satellite radio, full power accessories, Bluetooth connectivity, air-conditioning, and automatic headlights. These standard features are greatly improved with the acceleration to higher trim levels.
