When he limped off the ice in the second period of Game 5 on Thursday, Bruins forward Mark Kastelic looked like he might be finished for the night.
He had just blocked Rasmus Dahlin 's shot with his unpadded instep. He appeared to be in pain as he skated off.
But he came back.
And when he did, Logan Stanley drilled him skating slowly toward the Boston bench. Again he was moving slowly with clear discomfort. He looked like he might be done.
But with Boston's season on the line, Kastelic returned again. The Bruins ' fourth-line grinder kept getting up and kept answering the bell. He finished with four hits, three blocked shots and won four faceoffs in 11:50 of ice time in the Bruins' 2-1 overtime win that pushed the series to Game 6 in Boston on Friday.
His linemate was impressed, but not surprised.
"You come to expect those things from a guy like Mark. We're just lucky to have him," Sean Kuraly said. "He's playing hard and he's the kind of player that helps you win playoff games."
Bruins coach Marco Sturm smiled as he talked about him.
"Guys like that, they get so fired up," he said. "They just want to be out there. They want to do everything they can to help this team. Mark is one of them."
