Alex Bregman had a big day at the plate for the Chicago Cubs on Sunday.
The third baseman went 2-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs in Chicago's loss to the Washington Nationals .
The first homer came in the fourth inning when Bregman took Jake Irvin deep and into Wrigley Field's bleacher seats. It was unclear if it would make it far enough, but the wind carried it enough for Bregman's first home run of the 2026 season.

Bregman went into Sunday's contest with a single and a walk through two games.
"It's good to see Alex have a couple good swings and get things on the board and get going," Cubs manager Craig Counsell told reporters after the game . "I think he's a very good hitter. He's very selective at the plate. He's looking for his pitch and when he gets it, he puts a good swing on it.
"When he gets pitches to do damage with he puts the ball in the air the right way and that's a really good thing to do in this park," he continued . "I would agree that he's been very locked in since Day 1."
The 32-year-old signed a five-year deal with the Cubs in the offseason after spending the 2025 campaign with the Boston Red Sox . Bregman provided stability at third base and offensive in the lineup, though he missed 43 games due to a quad injury.
Bregman had 18 home runs for the Red Sox last season.
