About Laura

Laura Williams leads Yahoo Health's editorial team and serves as the brand's testing lead for fitness equipment. She has tested hundreds of products, including treadmills, ellipticals, weight benches, barbells, squat racks, foam rollers and kettlebells. She holds a master's degree in exercise science from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, is a certified exercise physiologist, and maintains six additional certifications in areas including nutrition, behavioral change and yoga. She is also the author of Partner Workouts (DK Books) and a former exercise science professor. Williams brings both professional expertise and real-world testing experience to her work, evaluating everything from cardio equipment and mattresses to maternity apparel and supplements. Her reviews are informed by firsthand experience, including six years as a gym and aquatics manager, where she outfitted recreation centers with professional-grade fitness equipment, as well as testing products during pregnancy, managing chronic back pain and training in her own home gym. Her work has appeared in Prevention, Men's Health, Runner's World, Bicycling, Verywell Fit, Men's Journal, Healthline and Everyday Health. Williams is bilingual in English and Spanish, holds dual U.S.-Costa Rican citizenship, and brings the perspective of a mother of three to her coverage of whole-health topics. She has also written openly about grief and mental health following the loss of her first husband to kidney cancer in 2018.
