Xoco
This low-key Rick Bayless eatery is inspired by Mexican street taco stands. Bayless serves up creative tortas, sandwiches, and a number of caldos (soups), sure to warm anyone up on a cold winter day. The pozole is a healthier take on the traditional dish. The pozole is made with chicken instead of pork, and though it is usually served on weekends at most Mexican eateries, here it's served here daily. The ever-popular tortas are placed on a crunchy French bread that, while not the typical bread used in this traditional sandwich, only enhances the flavor of the specially cured meats and vegetables. Xoco also offers a great selection of specialty drinks such as aguas frescas (fruit drinks), along with a decent wine and beer selection. Dessert is a must, and during the summer months, diners can look forward to a cup of homemade ice cream with strawberries. The made to order churros, available all year round, melt in your mouth. The place is normally packed so be ready for a wait.
For a typical Costa Rican dining experience, Irazu is the perfect spot. Among the authentic varieties, the Milanesa is a favorite and comprises steak, covered with breadcrumbs served with yellow rice, pinto beans, sweet plantains, salad and white cheese & tomato sauce topping! Costa Rican cuisine uses exotic herbs, shrubs and plantains which combine perfectly well with most of their dishes. The traditional mustard sauce with Tilapia is a must try. The daily specials feature veggies and other regular sides comprising beans, sweet plantain, beans and cabbage salad. Ask for multiple flavored shakes which are prepared in water, milk or soy.

Before ordering, ensure you check with your server on how hot the dish is served. The restaurant is a little small, and can get full quite soon. So a reservation would be wise. Service is excellent, with attentive efficient staff.
