Broncos bring back familiar face on practice squad
Activating linebacker Karene Reid (hamstring) from injured reserve wasn't the only roster move the Denver Broncos made on Tuesday.
Denver also signed safety Tanner McCalister (5-11, 191 pounds) to the practice squad, the team announced. The 25-year-old defensive back is a fourth-year player out of Ohio State who has spent time with four NFL teams.
McCalister had a previous stint with the Broncos in 2024, spending most of that season on the practice squad. He was waived last summer after appearing in three games with the club and now returns to Denver.
Elsewhere on the transaction front, after being waived from the 53-man roster on Monday, tight end Marcedes Lewis and offensive lineman Geron Christian cleared waivers on Tuesday. Christian plans to re-sign with the Broncos' practice squad, and the team has room for him after quarterback Sam Ehlinger was promoted to the active roster .
