Ian Rapoport reporting the Patriots not willing to give up a first-round pick as of right now.
That means they're not particularly close, so it means there's a chance this could drag on for the foreseeable future when talking about A.J.
Brown and a trade.
I, I, I'm just, I'm stunned.
We've had months, months and months and months- Months to see all these details.
We've been talking about for, oh, June 1st, and now we're not particularly close?
Like, what the hell are we doing?
I think this is posturing, I really do.
I, I You're not getting A.J.
Brown without giving up a, a first, as we talked about on Inside Coverage the other day.
Probably 20, 28 first, because, you know, 2027 is so strong of a draft.
But, I, I, I assume that this is just some negotiating through the media.
I assume this trade's gonna still get done.
It's been rumored for literally months.
As you said, l- I, I can't even remember another trade like this, where we're just kinda like, "Okay, it's gonna happen on June 1st," and everybody'll go about their way.
I, I mean, everybody seems to kinda know it's gonna happen, and I assume it will happen, but I Look, if w- if we're to this point and they're still haggling, I, I Until s- as you know with Max Crosby, until something's official, it's not official.
So l- we'll see how this all plays out.
Let's live in a world where the Patriots and the Eagles cannot agree and A.J.
Brown does not get traded to New England.
Then what?
What are some other teams that can make a push for A.J.?
Yeah, and, you know, there's a few teams that could use another receiver.
I, I mean, the, the Chiefs come to mind, right off the top.
I don't know that they'd really be willing to invest like that, but, you know, everybody can use an A.J.
Brown.
I, I, I truly believe that wherever A- A.J.
Brown plays this year, as long as it's not Philly, he's just gonna be revitalized.
We obviously knew he was upset.
We talk about it here all the time.
He's reading on the sideline and his body language is bad.
He can still play.
He's 28 years old.
He's not washed.
Like, this, this dude can play football.
So I think there's a lot of teams that would be interested.
I, I think if even, even a team like the Packers, you know, who lost a couple receivers this year, why wouldn't they be interested?
They've done business with the Eagles before.
They're Every team, every team could use an A.J.
Brown.
But I, look, I, I do think that if the Eagles don't get their price, Howie Roseman is the kind of GM who just says, "Sorry, A.J., w- we're not selling you short.
We're, we're not, we're not buying, or selling low here.
If you gotta come back, hey, bring all your books, bring a library to the sideline because you're gonna be an Eagle."
And honestly, the Eagles are better off with A.J.
Brown.
We all know that.
So I think if, if, if this doesn't go through with the Patriots, it is gonna get kinda weird.
It's gonna get a little strange.
