Here are five bold predictions for the 2026 WNBA season.

One, the New York Liberty fall short of the WNBA finals.

They have a first-year head coach, and as last year showed, an injury or a bad stretch can derail your championship hopes very quickly.

Also, the field is very good.

Number two, Breanna Stewart wins MVP.

She's coming off a down 2025 season by her standards, but she had an incredibly strong off-season at Unrivaled and overseas.

The last time she won this award was in 2023.

Now, who could make the WNBA finals?

How about the Sparks?

Bank on them playing some defense this year.

Once they do, they can find themselves in the finals for the first time since winning it all in 2026.

Number four, the triple-double mark will fall again.

Is this that bold?

Maybe not.

The game is leaning more to a do-it-all, positionless, stat-stuffer style, and Alyssa Thomas absolutely leads the way in that category.

Number five, how about the Toronto Tempo making the playoffs?

Sandy Brondello has never missed the playoffs as head coach in her career, and the Tempo secured some major assets this off-season to help them do it.

They could join the Valkyries as the only expansion team to make the playoffs in their inaugural season.
