Evaluating 2026 WNBA MVP betting market

Trysta Krick has her eye on a dark horse candidate to come away with the 2026 WNBA MVP award.

Video Transcript

A'ja Wilson stormed back last season to win the MVP, or you can look at it as a choke job from Napheesa Collier.

It depends on who you bet though, right, Trista?

Wilson has won three of the last four seasons, MVP that is, and only Caitlin Clark has better odds than her to win this year.

So is Napheesa Collier at 7 to 1 a p- person worth betting, Trista?

Are we just riding with Caitlin Clark or A'ja Wilson again this year?

Well, I do think Napheesa Collier is a player worth betting.

The biggest question mark is that she's gonna be out until June.

so that's really a key thing that's going to play into why these odds are so long.

But she did lose three of her teammates that relied on her the last couple of years, and they're gone, Jess Shepard, Alana Smith, Tesha Hideman.

so when Napheesa comes back, if she's able to elevate this team from maybe a 500 team into a contender, I think that helps her case quite a lot.

if she was healthy to start the year, I think she'd be probably more into the odds market of, say, A'ja Wilson.

My dark horse, though- Oh is Paige Bueckers.

Oh.

Paige is already top 10 in the league after a rookie season.

She averaged almost 20 a game with five assists in the worst team in basketball, and now they add a ton of complimentary pieces, so her assist numbers are going to go through the roof with Alana Smith, who shoots threes, along with AZ Fudd in the mix as well.

I think her shooting efficiency should go up as well.

She's not gonna have to put up prayers late into the shot clock.

The biggest thing for Paige to win MVP, of course, is for Dallas to show up and become a contender.

And if that happens, she has a true case.

if not, I think her spectacular game and improvement really won't matter nearly as much.

Yeah.

Well, Dallas has been priced minus 150 to minus 200 to make the playoffs, Trista.

I definitely think they do take that huge leap forward.

And Paige Bueckers certainly going to win an MVP at some point in her career, and I'd say sooner than later.

So I do like that long shot
