If both of these two quarterbacks, let's say, between Drake Maye and, And Matthew Stafford lay clunkers, does that open the door for a name that we haven't been talking much about the MVP discussion?
I mean, To me, it opens the door to the person that I would vote for if I had a vote.
Which is Christian McCaffrey.
And, frankly, We've talked about the 49ers.
I think everybody just sort of forgot about Christian McCaffrey.
And this year, he's Yeah.
...
He's a little over 100 yards away from having 1,000-yard rushing and 1,000-yard receiving season right now.
Like, if he goes off catching the ball on Sunday, he could get there.
And that's crazy to me to think about what he's dealt with.
I mean, now let's also acknowledge the fact that they've been beat up all over the place.
Let's acknowledge the fact that they played a large portion of the season with their backup.
Quarterback who didn't seem to even have that much of a drop-off.
Why?
Well, Kyle Shanahan's part of that, but another A huge part of that is Christian McCaffrey.
And for me, When I think of MVP, what I really ask myself is, at the end of the year, When we turn around and we tell the story of the season... Last year, if you were to tell the story of the NFL season, You were sitting down with somebody that didn't watch a second of it.
You couldn't have told the story without talking about Lamar and Josh Allen.
What they did week in and week out was so huge that it just, It, it just, it absolutely defined the season.
This year, That isn't the case for Drake Maye.
I, I'd ask anybody, What's the, what's the defining thing?
If we're putting together the RIP of MVP for Drake Maye, with these incredible, oh my god, MVP plays and moments.
Where do they come from?
Stafford's had a couple of them, Yeah.
And that's fine, but if I want to Tell the story of this season in a really weird NFL year.
I don't think that either of those quarterbacks separates.
Now, if I'm looking at it and saying, "Well, who adds the most value to their team?"
Who's the person whose team absolutely falls off a cliff if they're not around?"
I I don't know if that's the Patriots.
They played a soft scheda Charmin soft.
Schedule all year long.
I don't know what the Patriots would look like With their backup quarterback, Matthew Stafford certainly means a lot to the Rams, but I think without Christian McCaffrey, the 49ers, What the hell would they have?
They've already lost everybody and they put More and more and more on Christian McCaffrey to turn around and do it.
I think if I'm telling the story at the end of the year of where greatness came from, this season, while Stafford is a part of it, individual moments.
All of these different things that separate, I think Christian McCaffrey actually separates in A way that deserves much more consideration for the award.
