For today's video, we look into some recent comments that Micah Parsons, the Green Bay Packers star edge rusher, had to tell reporters in early June and how his comments, his injury recovery timeline impacts the potential matchup against the Chicago Bears in week five of the 2026 season.
When Parsons spoke to reporters in early June, according to ESPN's Rob Domowski, he said this, that, well, this is what Rob wrote about Parsons' comments, saying he's just passed the five-month mark from his ACL surgery, which he, Parsons, revealed also included procedure on his meniscus and that he won't be cleared to be back on the football field, even for practice, until the nine-month mark.
So you put the nine-month mark where it's at now, it's gonna be late September.
But what that timeline also suggests is that maybe Parsons is at the earliest back in September.
But Domowski also wrote this, the Packers likely would not allow him to play in a game until after several weeks of practice.
Let's say he's cleared to return last week of September, nine-month mark, several weeks of practice.
Well, the Bears play the Packers for the first time at Lambeau Field on October 11th in week five.
If you're just adding all the timelines, right, if everything goes as planned for Micah Parsons, he's on schedule, is there a chance he plays in week five?
Maybe.
But there's also a very high chance that he doesn't and maybe week six, week seven.
It all depends on how his body's recovering from an ACL, you know, injury and the meniscus as well, how all of that is being factored into the equation.
Because the last thing the Packers are going to do is put Micah Parsons out there on the football field earlier than he should.
He's way too valuable of an asset to just have him out there for the sake of having him play against Gr- or play against the Chicago Bears.
That's not gonna happen.
They're gonna do what's in the best interest for the longevity of the player.
And if that means he doesn't play until later in the season, then that's gonna be the move that the Packers organization should make and will make to ensure that Parsons is ready to make a deeper run in November, December, January, where the Packers are ultimately trying to go.
So if you're thinking about timelines, what actually makes sense?
To me, if you're expecting Micah Parsons to be out there on the football field against the Chicago Bears, maybe that's just not the smart choice.
Of course, a competitor like Parsons would like to be out there.
The last time he played the Bears, his Green Bay Packers won in Lambeau Field.
Of course, he would want to make that happen in 2026, but he has to listen to his body and whatever it's telling him, whatever the Packers are telling him, that's obviously gonna be the choice the star pass rusher goes with.
So we'll see what ends up happening this upcoming season.
