All right, let's talk about what could be the weirdest outcome of the Major League Baseball season.
Tarik Skubal dealt at the trade deadline from the Detroit Tigers to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
He's expected to go over there, help them try to win their third consecutive World Series, and a strange thing has happened ever since that trade went down.
First of all, Dodgers just lost eight of nine.
A lot of people are saying the sky is falling.
I'm not convinced the sky is falling.
I mean, if any team has earned the right to not be worried, it's the two-time defending World Championship-winning Dodgers.
Their roster is the best.
They'll be fine.
No need to panic, although a lot of people are panicking.
But the second strange thing that's happened is the Tigers keep on winning.
They're now a game out of the American League's final wildcard spot.
They are three and a half games behind the Chicago White Sox, could potentially get a bye.
They've kept on playing really good baseball in the absence of Skubal, with pitchers like Troy Melton and Framber Valdez and Jackson Joba stepping up.
So what we could see here is something that I don't believe has ever happened in the history of the game, and again, we need to jump to conclusions and forecast something out that's unlikely but would be pretty wild.
Let's say, for the sake of argument, that the Dodgers do as is expected and make the World Series.
Who could their opponent be?
That's right, the Detroit Tigers, if they get in and advance through the American League.
That would set up a bizarre scenario in which the best pitcher in baseball would be throwing for the Dodgers against the Tigers, the only team that he's ever known up until now.
That would be an insane, insane situation.
It, it's so weird because the Tigers seem better without Skubal, even though the rational part of everybody's brain has to understand that they aren't.
And the Dodgers seem beatable with Skubal, even though the rational part of everybody's brain needs to know that that's not really true either.
So little premature, but just something to wet your whistle, to look forward to.
All-time bizarre storyline could be shaping up right now.
Imagine a world where the Tigers are facing Skubal.
Imagine a world where the Tigers' old lineup beats Skubal.
Baseball is rich.
You can't predict it.
It's a six-month marathon just to get to the playoffs, and the storylines do not end there.
