The World Cup always creates new fans, but sometimes it reunites the ones who were there from the very beginning.
This year, one of the tournament's biggest surprises has been Cape Verde.
The tiny island nation of about half a million people has gone toe-to-toe with soccer powers Spain and Uruguay, staying unbeaten and turning heads around the world.
But after goalkeeper Vozinha's standout performance against Spain, there was one person missing from the stands, his mom.
Visa and passport issues kept Ana Candida Evora from attending her son's first World Cup match.
Then fans rallied behind the family, and this weekend she finally made it to Miami to watch her son play on soccer's biggest stage.
For a team that's become everyone's favorite underdog, it was a reminder that behind every World Cup dream is someone who believed long before the rest of us did.
