Mets manager Carlos Mendoza knew Bo Bichette wanted desperately to come up with a big hit for the home crowd and his bases-loaded double in the eighth inning certainly qualified. Bichette was proud of the fight the team put up after losing the lead. Reliever Huascar Brazoban, who surrendered a game-tying grand slam in the top of the inning, admitted to being embarrassed at not realizing he wasn't supposed to start the ninth inning if the Mets had the lead. Starter Christian Scott was thrilled to be back in the big leagues but his return did not go well, walking five batters and lasting just 1.1 innings.

What do you think that hit meant for Bichette?
huge.
I think he's been, looking for that moment, especially here at home, or any, a-any ballpark, but I think, meaningful to do it here in front of our fan, our fan base.
I think I'm gonna go back to the first, opening weekend when, you know, he wanted it so bad, and then for him, after we lost the lead in the eighth, the way we did it, and then just punched right back, it was just good to see it.
What did you just make of that game overall?
The way it started, the way it ended, just everything, it was- Crazy.
Crazy game, you know?
yeah, a lot happened there from the very beginning, but I'm glad that we were able to get the job done tonight.
What do you make of Scott's outing?
He, he didn't have command.
you know, he was just couldn't throw the ball over the plate.
yeah, I mean, the velo was there, but he's just he lost the strike zone.
so yeah, and it kinda got hard on him after that.
How did that one feel?
Pretty good.
Do you feel like you finally had your moment in front of a home crowd?
it's a good moment.
great thing about baseball is you gotta show up and do it again tomorrow.
So, I'm looking forward to that.
Can you talk about the resiliency of the comebacks tonight?
You know, they come back from a couple of deficits, and you guys come right back.
Can you talk about the importance of that?
Yeah, winning games in the big leagues is really hard.
you know, and I think, good teams fight no matter the ebbs and flows of the game, and, it's really exciting to see tonight from us.
Oscar, what happened in the ninth inning?
You know, I, I think it was, it was really a misunderstanding.
I, I was frustrated with myself, from the prior inning.
so yeah, they, they told me clearly if, if the game was tied or if it, if it stayed the same, I, I'd go out, but if they took the lead, Devin would come in.
but I kinda stayed, like, in, like, on autopilot, and, and I just went out there just kind of as a natural reaction.
So honestly, it was really my bad.
Yeah, once, once the lights, once the lights started, started going on and off, you know, when they change the, when they change the pitcher, the lights started going off, and I was like, "Wow."
so that's when I realized.
Was it, was it hard to refocus at all to get that, that first out?
Yeah, no.
Yeah, it was, it was a little bit tough, you know, after I didn't do my job in the previous inning to kind of saying like, "Damn," like, "I, I wasn't able to do it, but you know what?
We're gonna, we're gonna go back out there and, and try to, and try to, you know, reengage and refocus there."
What was the feeling just to get back out there after two years?
yeah, it was great to get out there with the team.
you know, first unbelievable job of the offense today.
grind out at-bats through the all nine innings.
did a great job against all their arms.
bullpen did a really good job, too, you know, eight innings.
So, I didn't do my job, but they did their job, and, you know, it's, it's why we're here with a win today.
What were you battling during those, during that inning?
I didn't really have a good feel for anything today.
fastball was up a lot, cutter was up a lot.
tried to make adjustments in the zone and started nibbling.
got away from being competitive in the strike zone like I am, when I'm at my best.
So learn from it, move on, and turn the page.
