Mets manager Carlos Mendoza knew Bo Bichette wanted desperately to come up with a big hit for the home crowd and his bases-loaded double in the eighth inning certainly qualified. Bichette was proud of the fight the team put up after losing the lead. Reliever Huascar Brazoban , who surrendered a game-tying grand slam in the top of the inning, admitted to being embarrassed at not realizing he wasn't supposed to start the ninth inning if the Mets had the lead. Starter Christian Scott was thrilled to be back in the big leagues but his return did not go well, walking five batters and lasting just 1.1 innings.
