The Arrowhead Addict podcast Tuesday edition.
Sterling Holmes, Josh Briscoe, so many things to talk about and they'll all be things that you bring up on this show.
AMA ask me, I guess us, Amos, ask, well, no, uh, no, no, A M A U.
No, it would just be A U S. It could just be A U A.
It's just a ask us anything.
Yeah, we do acronyms.
I don't know why I keep getting S's in there.
I shouldn't.
I'm, I'm, I'm still stuck on Ruben Baines's arm length, which is, uh, short, guys.
And guess what?
I don't care.
I still would like him at 9.
So we'll get into as much Chiefs talk as we possibly can.
I do want to take a look one last time at the edge outlook just.
Again, as we get closer and closer to the draft, not a whole bunch of things going on, obviously right now in the NFL landscape, but we will do our best.
We will have some fun.
We will tell whimsical stories along the way.
Briscoe, how are you?
I'm good.
I was just looking around in here and I, I honestly, if you want, I could actually go find one, but I was just looking to see if I have a tape measure in my office and I, I don't.
Uh, haven't had to hang or or mount anything in here in a while, but, um, sometimes I, you know, I'm just thinking we gotta figure out what our arm lengths are, um, and just be able to use, we could use ourselves as I don't know, we did this for the esteemed Tucker D. Franklin, um, many, many, many, many years ago.
What's the D stand for with the tape measure?
Seems a little scary there, Briscoe, what you guys are doing.
depth.
We're trying to get the depth of your, of your punch.
It's all about leverage, you know, that's really what.
That's what we're all built around.
Now, we did that as a radio bit at one point.
I don't remember what Tucker came in at, but I think it was sub 30.
Um, I'd like to know, do I have, do I have short arms for me?
Do I have short arms for an NFL prospect?
Do I have longer arms than you'd think?
Um, I have no idea, and, and, and unless I leave this chair, no way of knowing.
Uh, we have the technology.
Uh, we're just lazy.
Which should probably be our slogan.
I did do it one night, and that sounds bad out of context.
I did do it one night.
Um, only one, not enough, I guess.
Uh, but, uh, my arms are longer than the other two people at, uh, at 8:10 who were there.
Longer than Kyle Collier's arms and longer than Michael Darcy's arms.
Darcy's taller than me, so I got some length to me.
I was gonna say I felt like Darcy's, yeah, that makes sense.
I both of those guys, I know, I know both of those guys, and, and neither one of them I would necessarily describe as wingspanny.
Um, I'm pretty sure Jason would, well, I'm just, you know what, I'm gonna say it, Sterling, you can take this to your own life.
I'm pretty sure Jason's probably got you by a couple of inches .
I, I maybe.
I'm just guessing.
I wouldn't know, but I'm just guessing.
Seems weird, I guess, you know, you've done shows with both of us.
I know, yeah, and, and I'll tell you what, he's, we do have a locker room at 8:10.
He's got, he's got length, you know, he's got, he's got that wingspan that you need, um, but I'll let you guys handle that for yourselves.
Welcome to March 24th edition of Talking Chiefs.
This is what we're doing.
Uh, yeah, your bracket.
All right, Weston says Caleb Downs at 9.
Sure.
Next question.
No, seriously, in or out, and what has to be there for, for you to be in on Caleb Downs at 9?
I'll, I'll take Caleb Downs at 9 over any offensive tackle at 9, I think, because I am just declaring my own, my, my, my own absolute rage against the, the old tackle at, at 9 draft pick.
Um, again, just to clarify for anybody who's new here, it's not because it, it's not a premium position, it is.
Cause there couldn't be some value there, there could be.
But when you talk about like the tackles who would be there at 9, they're, Penne Sewell is not in this draft class.
That's what I keep going back to.
Caleb Downs could be a difference maker.
I, I do feel like his arrow is trending down a teeny bit as we talk more and more about the physical traits.
He was an awesome college player.
He's almost certainly going to be an awesome NFL player, not quite as physically dominant, and that's not where you usually see safeties go.
Um, I, I like Caleb Downs, the player a lot.
I would need, I would need all of my pass rushers and all of my wide receivers to be gone before I would take downs and then.
Where is your list of wide receivers, and where is your list of edge rushers?
Well, it's funny you should ask, cause I, uh, I, I went through that with the aforementioned Tucker D. Franklin, uh, in an episode of 21 Questions on KCSN which you often, uh, rotate in as a, as a guest on Always a good time.
I, I actually need to acknowledge that I think I've moved Tyson down another, another peg since doing that episode just because every injury update with him gets scarier and scarier.
It's not just that he had an ACL, it's that the hamstring continues.
Used to be a question.
Um, but I, I, very, very close together would have probably Tate, then Lemon.
It's the type of receiver I really want the Chiefs to have in, in Carnell Tate, but I think Makai Lemon would be a very good fit in this offense.
I'd be happy with either of them.
Um, and, and I think Bain makes a lot of sense for Spags.
If Arvel Reese happens to fall, then you should take Arvel Reese at 9. and if David Bailey is the best edge available, I think it's worth taking a shot there, but I, I think I would go Tate Lemon Tyson and maybe Reese Bain Bailey, because it, it seems like Reese is kind of penciled in it too, so I haven't gone as deep on his film as maybe I should have.
So, when the draft gives you Lemon, draft him.
When, when the draft gives you lemon, make lemonade.
That's right.
OK, just wanted to check on that one.
Yeah, the draft gives you Tate, make.
Tater tots.
What's, what, what's funny is Tyson chicken nuggets, uh, right, yeah, we could do that.
He might be the best wide receiver.
But the injuries are so startling, and I don't think the Chiefs can afford to have another concern at wide receiver.
And it's not like that he is, in my mind.
Light years ahead of Tate and Um, lemon, right?
And, and that's where my concern comes in because you need a guy really year one to be at a minimum a wide receiver 3.
With the uncertainty still surrounding Rasheed Rice, with Xavier Worthy not necessarily progressing the way we would have all liked to see.
Maybe it's the wide receiver coach, maybe it was the offense, maybe Kenneth Walker, which I believe is a firm.
Um, I'm pretty firm in this belief that Kenneth Walker actually makes life so much easier for Xavier Worthy than any other wide receiver.
I believe this.
But still, the point remains.
Yeah, you need someone.
I like Tyquan Thornton as much as the next guy, but, uh, he's not an 85% snap count guy.
I don't think we saw that.
We wanted him to get more snaps than he received last season.
We wanted to see him maybe get more than Hollywood Brown or even get into the Xavier Worthy snap count share.
But we still weren't saying, oh, yeah, that's a wide receiver one, right?
And so, a guy like Tyson, for me, I don't think the risk is worth the reward in my opinion.
Again, unfortunate, the Chiefs have done fairly well overall in regarding drafting maybe injury-prone is not the correct terminology, but medical concerns.
Trey Smith was a, was a phenomenal pick.
Josh Simmons, though, you just have to point out.
You can't say freak injury because it's the NFL and injuries are part of the equation.
He got injured again and also missed time for a, a personal reason.
They're what, 1.5 out of 2?
Like, what do you call it, Josh Simmons?
It was a half, correct?
I mean, I still think it was the right pick.
Well, even then it, it's being unrelated to the knee makes me like, it, it is a freak thing.
He got, he got blocked into.
I mean, I think Kareem Hunt technically broke his wrist, right?
Like that's, that is an unlucky break.
It, it counts, it is an injury to your point, but like, it wasn't, it, it's not that Josh Simmons didn't play the 1st 8 weeks of the season because his rehab went longer, but.
None of those picks that we're talking about from Trey Smith to Josh Simmons, none of those were top 10 picks.
If Jordan Tyson's on the board at 29, the Chiefs should take him, period.
End of story, full stop.
If he's there at 29, you should take him.
Although I, I guess I, I, I'll add one asterisk, which is if the entire league has decided to pass on him, uh, and some teams.
Multiple times, and maybe it's worse than you realize, but that risk is worth it eventually.
That risk being a top 10 risk, I recently compared him to Sammy Watkins, who went 4, right?
And that's a, you know, a different era in a lot of ways.
Sammy Watkins' time in Kansas City should be remembered fondly, but the week in, week out, like, what's the hamstring doing?
That's, that's something you can live with for your, I mean, think about how crazy this sentence is.
That's something you can live with with your 3 weapon on an offense with Travis Kelsey and Tyreek Hill catching passes from Patrick Mahomes.
Man, we had it good there for, for a little while.
Um, that's not something that you can survive if that's your #1 wide receiver and a top 10 pick and all of that, so.
That, that for me is why Tyson is, is 3rd.
Um, I, I haven't quite gotten all the way up.
I'm like KC Concepcion, even though it seems like he's getting a little bit of extra buzz, it's kind of the top of the next class.
Boston's in that group too though, so I, it, I, I think Tyson being for me currently right now, I've, I've ended up kind of having Tyson almost in his own second tier where Tate and Lemon are.
Both guys I'd be really excited about.
Tyson's the most talented guy with the biggest question mark, and then you've got a few real candidates in that next tier of guys that'll probably go near the end of the first round.
OK, so you said your number 3 edge rusher was Bailey, correct?
And then your number 1 wide receiver is Tate, correct?
So let's play this game then.
Both those two guys somehow are available.
Tate and you're are available.
So Bain's gone.
Arbel Reese is gone, but Bailey is still there.
And let's say for some reason, Lemon's probably gone in this scenario because I'd assume a wide receiver has been taken.
So it's Tate still there at 9 and Bailey, or, yeah, Bailey and Tate are still there at 9.
So you're number 3 edge and you're number 1 wide receiver.
Which way are you going?
I assume both of those players will probably be gone by 9.
If they are both available, I will take Carnell Tate.
I, I feel a little bit better about the rest of the, the edge class.
I think if you wanna literally double dip, take a defensive end at 29 and your favorite tackle at 40, I would, I would live life that way.
I know you're making life hard for Spaggs and Dave Merritt, you'd like one of those picks to be in the secondary, one of those premium picks, but I am, I am really ready to, to pull the trigger on a number one wide receiver.
I just think the combination, as we've talked about here already, the combination of some unknowns this year and nothing.
But unknowns into next year.
The only sure thing on the roster in 2027 at wide receiver is worthy.
They're not, say again, Worthy, Worthy and Royals.
Worthy, Worthy almost certainly will be on the roster, but I don't think we know what his role will be.
Royals should be on the roster, but he could barely get on the field last year, and Thornton is under contract.
He'll probably be on the roster then, but all of those guys have real question marks you've already mentioned.
I'm higher on Xavier.
than most Chiefs fans right now, I think, ever so slightly.
Um, I wanna see, I, I have a hope for him taking a step this upcoming year, but if he doesn't this year, I'm gonna stop thinking that.
It's not gonna be, well, give it year two of a different receivers coach, and another year of figuring out like body control on the sidelines.
This is a huge year for Xavier Worthy, and if he, and if he becomes a fringe number one receiver, nearing the, the best case scenario for him.
I would love to have him play off of Carnell Tate for years to come and years without Travis Kelsey in the mix.
It'd be like if Jamison Williams to an extent is probably what you're looking at as far as I think upside, uh, which is funny.
I was the one who was down on Worthy when he was drafted, and we have the reaction from the draft show and I got bleeped on by fans and now.
I'm the one that's probably more, not high, but I think more rational in regards to this.
And it's just funny how the narrative shifts.
But what's funny is, I think I've been pretty consistent the entire time, where I always thought he maybe was more of a specialized player.
I would have taken a different guy, not saying he was a bad player, but I thought that he was a, A wide receiver to top end kind of guy like tops.
And I thought potentially in that draft, even at wide receiver, I thought, for example, Ladd McConkie had maybe backend wide receiver one.
We saw glimpses, but even he had.
I stepped back last year.
So if we're being, if we're keeping it a buck, it's not like I was, oh, he nailed it.
But I also said Cooper Dejean might be a, a CB one-ish, depending on his role.
He's a CB one in the slot, if you will.
I don't know how you wanted to break up Cooper Dejean, but he's a top.
7, top 5 slot corner in the NFL.
So again, it all depends.
I, I don't want to try and pump my chest out because it wasn't like I took a guy and it was Justin Jefferson.
Um, but I feel like I've been pretty consistent on Xavier Worthy.
It's just funny how the narrative in Chiefs Kingdom has shifted on Xavier Worthy.
In the same argument or the same, um, example I laid out for you, what's funny is I wouldn't even consider a wide receiver.
At 9, if any of those 3 edge rushers were there.
The Chiefs, the, the, the Chiefs' edge rushing situation is so dire.
Uh, I'm not saying you're, you're, you're pigeonholing yourself, um, but this is about as close as you, as the Chiefs have been to pigeonholing themselves.
Because right now at edge, you're, um, Your, your edges are Carl Loftus.
Gelati FAU They currently have Cooper McDonald backing up FAU on ESPN's depth chart.
Well, that's not right.
It's wrong.
It's, but that's literally how dire the edge rushing situation is in Kansas City right now.
That even ESPN was like, bleep , they need a 4th.
Who the hell do we put there?
I guess Cooper McDonald.
So that's where I'm at.
They have FAU.
They have Carl Loftus, they have Glati.
I don't think if either of those 3 guys are there at 9.
The, the edges we're talking about, you can, you can miss.
I, I, I understand Mitchell says Bain is overrated.
He watched a lot of Miami games.
He gets owned by O tackles, disappears.
I, I get the short arms , I get the knocks, I get the negatives.
I also get where the Chiefs are currently at, at the edge spot.
They have done themselves a disservice trying to, Really fill out this roster so far in the offseason.
And I don't know how, I do know how I got to this point.
They, they missed on a lot of edges.
That, that's, that's how they got to this point.
But they got, they missed on edges and then free agency came around where we all knew this wasn't a good necessarily edge rushing class.
There was a top-end market.
And then you had the middle market that got vastly overpaid because there wasn't enough at the top end.
And I see Scott, Scott Peel says, can Cam Jordan be this year's Carlos Dunlap?
And I go, you better hope so.
Like, I'm still holding out immense hope that Cam Jordan is in the cards.
And when we are holding out hope for a 37 year old when the season starts, edge rusher, that's currently where we're at.
And he, he was productive last year and You know, my thoughts, I was even saying, hell, go get Kaleus Campbell at some point, who's like 39.
But that again shows you the.
I, I, I, I, I think the, the, the poor spot the Chiefs edge situation is currently at.
And that, that's why, again, I'm not, I'm not trying to say, oh, you're a dumb ass and you're wrong if you take Carnell Tate over an edge at 9, if one of those guys are there.
It's where my, Immense concern would arise of, are you, it's not at the same argument, but are you, are you getting a super nice car, but you're sitting here going, well, I don't even have a house?
Like, uh, sure, am I, am I, am I gonna sleep in this, in this Ferrari?
That, that's a, a bad argument, but like, that's a little bit where I'm at when it comes to the edge situation versus wide receiver.
It's not like it's a good one, but at least you have a, uh, 1994 Toyota RAV4 with 250,000 miles on it at wide receiver.
Uh, you don't have that at, at edge.
Yeah, and, and, I mean, that's, that's part of the conversation on George Carloftis, right?
They, they're paying a, they're paying him like a starting defensive end, which he is.
He's just not a dominant number one pass rusher.
And you still have a ton of money tied up in Chris Jones, who they have not restructured the contract of, I think, in a meaningful way, that's, that's noteworthy , um, in terms of how they're kind of viewing it for the long haul.
But then, yeah, Tyrus Tonga is.
It is not a pass rushing solution.
He can make life easier, especially on Chris Jones, but that doesn't necessarily move the needle there for me either.
You do not wanna go into week one with Ashton Gillati as your second starting defensive end.
And, and at this point , it might be Cam Jordan and another call to Mike Dana.
Like, I'm not thrilled for that, but if it's like, hey, vet men deal, hey man, we got some dead money on the cap for you already, we already tweeted out the thank you, Mike graphic.
But if you're, if you're still looking for a spot to play football, we're gonna need some snaps from somebody.
I, I think, I think he and I would say Jordan first, but they, I think they make sense after the draft, which, by the way.
That also tells you what the NFL thought of Chiefs edge rushers.
Yeah, correct.
Uh, like Charles Aina who got a little bit of money, and that was off of a rough season for him, and, and yeah, we're talking about, yes, the reunion with players who are still unsigned in late March.
So I don't think you want to be penciling those guys in the starters.
I agree with you.
I think the Chiefs are saying, hey, we plan on playing a starting defensive end, a rookie starting defensive end.
60% of the snaps or something like that this year, which is like, uh, George Carloftis was beyond that as a rookie.
I think he led the team in snaps at defensive end as a rookie, and I think I'm remembering that vaguely because I think that was a prediction that I made then came true, so I, I remembered that enough to bring it up years later.
Um, just give me credit for it even if it's not true.
But I, I do think they are telling you they are going to have to make a significant impact there in the draft.
I just think that argument is almost as sound at receiver, which is not where you wanna be.
Like, I think there is a real, there is a more immediate need at defensive end.
If Rasheed Rice is George Carloftis, and we just don't know that, like, do you have a good high-level starter, Car Loftus and Rasheed Rice, is that someone that you can get by with as one of your top players at that position group?
Obviously, Rice has all the questions, and then you have the years beyond, obviously, Car Loftus is gonna be here for many, many years.
Back to the receiver point, I don't know who the star of that group is.
At any point over the next 3 or 4 years.
So, I, I think the quote unquote good news here might be that I've, I've got 5 players on my big board, of those 3 pass rushers, and then Tate and Lemon.
If the Chiefs walk away with any of those 5 at 9, I will be content.
Yeah, no, and, and, and that's totally fair.
And I think there's a decent chance all 5 of them are gone, which is the scary version of this.
If just 4 of them are gone, I'm cool.
Just, just, um, sticking here to edge for a moment.
I think there's probably more opportunity at 29.
And maybe even 40 to get a game changer at edge.
The issue is you just hope you don't miss the pockets.
And that's, and that's where the concern lies.
That's a receiver too.
Same, I mean, it, I know you, you said you wanted to stick at edge, but just the conversation's so similar at both of those positions because the league views them very similarly.
To me, it comes down to is Rasheed Rice able to play all the games, or at least we can't always, you know, count on injury, but legally speaking, can he play all the games?
If Rasheed Rice can play all the games.
Him, him Worthy and Tyquan , fine.
Like it's not a great, it's not the best trio in the NFL, but we went into last year being extremely excited about at least two of those three.
That group plus Hollywood.
We were like, yeah, that'll do.
And we kind of found out Tyquan was maybe even better than Hollywood.
I mean, it depends on your thought.
There were different style of players.
The opportunity was a lot different, but again, So, I don't want to just all of a sudden say we were so excited about, again, on the field only, Worthy and Rice on the field, and then after one, really poor year from the entire offense, then all of a sudden those guys can no longer play and they're a whole bunch of bums.
Like, I, I just think that, that, that's just too drastic.
There has to be some middle ground there of, OK, the entire offense was bad last year.
We're very high on those two guys.
The wide receiver coach got fired, uh, new OC is back in town.
Uh, I said new OC back in town because he's, you know, coming back.
Um, you know, let's have some nuance here.
There's just not that edge for him.
I mean, FAU has not been able to either A, stay healthy or even get on the field at all.
And as it stands right now, he might be your starting edge rusher on the opposite side of Car Loftus.
And that's where I'm at.
By the way, when I brought the 1994 Toyota RAV4 with 200,000 miles on it, that was my first car.
Yeah, baby, baby blue.
That thing shook when you got over 40 miles an hour.
That thing was a dangerous little son of a gun.
Uh, yeah, it was ugly, but it was fun.
It was my first car.
That was my first car.
Put oil on that thing about once every two weeks, so that thing leaked.
Oh, good memories.
1999 red Plymouth neon for me, um, also had all sorts of things, so, it's where I learned to fix some stuff and then also learned that I should have been fixing other things that I then got slightly better at monitoring in years to come.
Um, have you, have you gotten rid of a car for more than like scrap, like that's, that's a threshold talking to Renee, I've realized, our car right now is just in like a little bit of a TBD scenario, it's like, there's just persistent maintenance at this point, and it's like, oh man.
Eventually, this is gonna be a real problem.
I've, I, neither Renee nor I have, uh, have sold a car for more than like $100.
Yeah, I got like, like $2000 for my old Jeep Wrangler, and uh, I thought I could get more, but that thing like didn't run.
But I was very insistent on like, no, people want the, the chassis of this .
No, Sterling, you dumb ass.
Should have sold it earlier, but that's a learning lesson, Briscoe, a learning lesson.
And I like this question from Steven.
Steven, I appreciate you in the chat earlier.
Uh, I hope you liked Johnny's.
Uh, Steven says, would you be a bigger fan of bringing back Mike Danna or bringing back Jawan Taylor?
Producer Joanne said navy blue Volkswagen Beetle with the flower taillights, that had to be a sight to behold on the shoulder of the highway on a regular, that's, that is a, that's a hell of a car, that's a hell of a visual.
Um, I'd, I'd be fine with either of those, Steven, honestly, I , I think.
I will say, first of all, and I think I'm in good company here, I know there are gonna be some commenters, they're like, yeah, dummy, we've been telling you this for years.
I'm really surprised Juwan Taylor has not signed somewhere.
I, I didn't think that he was going to get an enormous bag, but I thought somebody would say, well, you're a Starting right tackle who's done this at a pretty high level.
The penalties are obviously his kind of calling card, which is bad for your market.
Maybe there's a little bit of a question about his knee, I wonder, I, I don't, that's, no one's even whispered that to me, I'm just thinking out loud.
A little bit surprised.
That he's just not landed anywhere.
And if the Chiefs, if, if, if, if they are actually worried about right tackle, and if they just wanna say, hey, Juan, come back, we'll give you a one-year deal, and it's you versus Jalen Moore again, winner gets their incentives, I'd, I'd be fine with that.
Um, I think there's probably a bigger need for Mike Dana cause you just need someone who can do that and Juwan or Jalen Moore can be your starting right tackle.
Um, maybe Eapole can't be your swing tackle in a way that they feel great about, you know, Mike, uh, uh, uh, Juanie Morris is coming off of a, a serious injury.
Don't know where he's gonna be.
I'd be fine with either of those though, if the cost is right.
Yeah, uh, yeah, Steven, he also brought us cookies to the station.
They were delicious.
Steven brought us cookies and, oh dude, they were heck electric cookies.
Um, there were the just, just good cookies.
I think they're like pretzels, maybe a little bit chocolate in there.
I had about 4 of them.
Lebo kept taking them.
Lebo had a lot.
He kept, he kept swinging in there.
I'm like, Lebo, you're not even on with us right now.
Stop.
Doesn't Lebo, doesn't Lebo weigh like 125 pounds?
Doesn't, doesn't he weigh less than Xavier Worthy now?
He's pretty close.
Uh, so I do wonder with Jawan Taylor, I'm with you in the regards of, hey, well, it clearly shows what the NFL thinks of him.
It also takes two to tango.
He was making what, about $20 million a year.
Is he gonna go, yeah, you know what, I'm gonna make, I'm gonna cut that in half.
It only make 10.
He probably still thinks he's a $20 million a year tackle.
I don't know if that's it, I thought he'd get 12.
So Spottrack has this thing at 3 for $45.15 million dollars AAV.
That's his, his market value.
I would, I wouldn't, if someone else would have signed him to that contract, I would have said that makes sense.
Not it's a steal and not it's an overpay, but again, man, like we forget all the time, you know, we collectively, the free agent inflation is huge.
That's the, the whole edge market we just talked about.
Everybody's price is 20% higher than it feels like it should be because they made it to free agency.
I thought Juwan Taylor would get at least what he's worth, plus a little more, and he's just still hanging out, and maybe.
Maybe he's talked to somebody again .
I, I, the reason I go back to the knee thing is just, is, is that maybe he thinks, hey, you know what, teams don't sweat it.
I'm gonna, I'm gonna wait till after the draft.
I'm gonna pass a physical and you call me then, and, and then I'll take a real 1 year, $14 million dollar mercenary deal, but that doesn't seem to be where things are headed, which again, I'm just a little bit surprised by, and I'd be happy to have him back for another year.
Was it Rasheed Walker that saw like 1 for 4, I'm not, if I'm not mistaken.
And again, he, I mean former starter who was formerly really good and then was formerly not really good last year kind of noticeably and the contract and I believe the thought was he was gonna get like a fairly large deal and did not.
So I don't like Dan Moore watch for that and maybe that's, maybe it's a little bit of a correction to last year's market because nobody, nobody liked the, the top of the market deals last year.
Yeah, I don't know.
I just, it seems like the tackle market is depressed this past offseason.
It makes two of us.
Are you a tackle now?
Is that what you're calling yourself?
I wish I'd like to be tackled by some traffic.
Damn, that's depressing.
Uh, final thought on edge here with FAU.
What should expectations be?
Does this tell us anything that they have not done anything?
Because FAU would be the biggest, as of now, benefactor.
You can make the case for Gillati, but I think we saw that Gillati is more, more or less of a , I think Mike Danna replacement, just a rookie deal.
Mike Danna.
I, I, I don't know.
I don't, I don't know your thoughts on this, but does this say anything about FA?
I'm not saying I think that, but does this say anything about FAU?
No, I, I don't, I don't think it can, um, regardless of whatever happened with the injury last year.
I mean, he's just, he, he just wasn't in the program last year because he, he was put on IR before roster cutdowns.
Um, I think the hope, and, I'm, man, I, I mean this so genuinely and not sarcastically at all .
I think the hope for FAU is that he makes the roster, and I don't think that there's any guarantee of that.
They, they, they free up no money by cutting him.
This $3 million dollars of his rookie contract is fully guaranteed.
It was a first-round pick.
It's, it's 3 point.
$7 million or whatever it's gonna be, almost 3.8 million.
That that money is spent.
If he can make the roster, and if you can throw him out there for.
I honestly, I was gonna say if you throw him out there for 5 or 6 snaps a game and let him go run after the quarterback and just see if anything comes together, I think that would be a big win.
I think what's probably more likely is that he's really getting crunched at roster cutdowns, depending on how many guys they add after the draft, late in the draft, what kind of a competition is near the bottom of the depth chart.
And they've, they've carried, you know, in years past, your Malik Herring, your BJ Thompson before his big scary medical thing.
You might just be a healthy scratch who gets called up if somebody gets hurt, cause Felix will have been with Spags for a number of years, and there'll be a little familiarity there, but I, I, it, I don't think you can expect him to be like a dirty work guy, just not really what he physically projected to.
Maybe there's a change there, maybe he ends up coming in and, and being more capable of some of the other things you have to do to be a Spags defensive end, but I, I mean.
Again, not to, you know, like, he's a, not only a K-St guy, but like a local guy and seems like a great dude, and so I, I don't, I don't have any joy in this, but like, he's, he's a cut or two away from his NFL career being over, and, and he's barely played, so I think.
He, he's gotta find some other gear to access or some other role in this defense to just stay on the team.
And then if he can do anything on the field, some team eventually might give him another look and say, man, he, we had him as a, we had him as a 2nd-round, uh late 2nd-round grade, but we'll see what he could do.
Do an hour different scheme in 2027 or whatever it may be , but right now, I just think for him and for the Chiefs, I think you just want him to make the roster and, and maybe he gets a couple of opportunities to remind us what once made us excited about some of his tools.
Yeah, uh, again, as we wrap up here on this little edge talk AMA.
Uh, not good.
I don't hashtag that.
Uh, what did I say?
Nothing.
Don't worry about it.
What did I say?
Are you gonna tell me in the break?
See, this is why I get market.
No, you just said like you called it edge talk AMA or whatever, and I just don't think that that should live elsewhere without context.
I don't get it.
It's just vaguely sexual.
That's all.
It's not, it's not that deep.
It's just, well.
I don't know.
I don't speak.
You said not that deep.
Come on.
I didn't mean to though.
Come on.
We do a lot of live podcasting, a lot of radio , and sometimes, and look, you're the victim of this more often than anyone I know.
This side of the Seth Kaiser line, you're the most, you're the most susceptible to this of anybody I know.
And sometimes you just say enough words that eventually you string a couple together that you wish you wouldn't have strung together.
It's, it happens.
Yeah, that happens to me about, about 9 times a day.
Uh, all right.
Here, here's where the edge, uh, rush market free agency-wise is still at, and boy, is it not good.
That's been the moral of this story, not trying to be a, a, a, a depressing dude on, on March 24th when we've had.
The weather starting to get better.
Uh, yeah, I like this from Houston.
Well, and that does it for Tuesday's with Sterling.
What happened?
We're back.
I'm back.
I don't know what happened.
I lost you for long enough to think that I might be able to just end the show, but that's OK. You got a, you got a question.
I like it.
Well, one from Houston defense attorney that just said, uh, Sterling Edges.
Uh, I like that.
That's, that's pretty good, um, strong.
Um, all right, going back to the actual free agent market, this is where it currently is at.
Joey Bosa still out there.
Leonard Floyds still out there.
Cameron Jordan is still out there.
That's the most likely one.
Anferne Jennings is still out there.
Von Miller is still out there .
Jadeveon Clowney is still out there.
Dante Fowler Jr. is still out there.
Hassan Reddick still out there.
And if this was 2018, I'd say, wow, what a great free agent draft class.
The issue is this is 2026.
I would sign Jadeveon Clowney to play for my football team, for as long as he is capable of walking.
I just like the, the mythology of him has even extended what he's been as a football player, which is to continue to have a really productive career on 100 different teams, um, but none the Chiefs, never the Chiefs, bizarrely, um, yeah, no, I, I think.
I think Cam Jordan makes probably the most sense on a variety of levels.
I would call Jadeveon Clowney, I think it would be worth having him here.
And if those both fall through, see what Tom Bahali is up to.
And on that note, that is Tuesdays with Sterling.
That is where the edge market is at.
We might have to check in and see what Tombahali is up to.
He's got 10 good reps. Who has more, him or FAU?
No, that's mean-spirited.
That's mean-spirited .
You said, you said he's got 10 good snaps left and you said FAU might get a couple snaps a game.
That's me just throwing it back on you, dude.
Happened again, huh?
Sure did.
Appreciate you ever hanging out with us.

Uh, let's just hope the Chiefs get Kim Jordan.
Until next time, I'll probably say way more dumb things for Josh Briscoe, I am Sterling Holmes.
Let's get out of here.
We are out.
