How concerned should Jets be with Hall’s injury?

All right, so we're gonna stay in New York.
They had a incident yesterday with Breece Hall.
And another example of what I hate about this time of the year, because we're all monitoring the phones.
Where's the tweet gonna come from that star player may be injured?
When's it gonna happen?
And then it's always vague at first.
You get the news that there's an injury, and then you gotta wait for two, three hours to find out what it is, and it's gonna be the preliminary.
The head coach is gonna say, "Everything is fine.
All is well.
Don't look, don't watch, don't pay attention."
And then you find out what it really is.
Breece Hall came out yesterday.
He was running the football after making a catch, went down without contact, groin injury, and it's being characterized And again, this is part of the whole all is well, nothing to see here.
It's being characterized as minor, but I've seen multiple tweets that say it's a matter of weeks, not months.
That's not minor.
Minor is days.
Day to day is minor.
Week to week is problematic.
Month to month is, w- we'll see you next year.
So weeks, week to week, that's not minor.
Week to week is not minor, and I know they've still got three and a half weeks before their first game, but that is not minor if it's week to week.
No, groin is almost never minor.
It, I mean, it, it's just you, you can't do anything when your groin is, is messed up.
It's, it's the strongest tendon in your body, so when you mess it up, it, it, it takes a minute.
And as you know, I mean, especially playing running back, and you put your body in all these awkward positions, and you're squatting down and taking a hit and getting tackled and pulled, yeah, you, you gotta be a little extra careful with it, for sure.
I mean, Breece Hall, you know, kind of like we were talking about with Cam Scatabo, but maybe even to another level.
I mean, he's one of the best playmakers on their football team.
They need him.
They got some, they got some other good running backs behind him in Brayden Allen, who's d- damn good.
But, but, you know, this is Breece Hall.
This is a guy that's special and can score from anywhere, anyhow.
He's one of the better running backs in football, one of the more explosive ones.
So yeah, they, they need him.
You know?
They, they do, and, I, I'm with you.
I wouldn't think this is a day-to-day thing.
I would think this is now, "No, let's rest his ass, and hopefully he's ready to go for week one, and he can be the guy that we want him to be."
You know the formula.
Pray first, Dr. Jesus second, Dr. Needle third, but yeah.
Look, it just, it feels like they're trying to downplay this.
I just think collectively they know how important he is.
Think happy thoughts.
We're gonna will this thing into being not a problem, because they, they decided pretty quickly.
I think Frank Reich had something to do with it when he showed up as the offensive coordinator, because for a while it seemed kind of tenuous as to what they were gonna do- I, exactly with Breece Hall after the season.
Right?
Not tag him.
There was thought they weren't gonna tag him, then there was thought they'd just use the transition tag so they have a right to match if somebody signs him to an offer sheet with a long-term deal.
And the next thing you know, they're signing him to a long-term contract, and it's clear he's the centerpiece of that offense.
And I think that the, the reasonable view is, hey, this is the best thing you've got.
Like, he had 1,000 yards rushing last year- Totally when the passing game was not good.
Yeah.
Which means he had to fight through plenty of extra bodies, 'cause they weren't worried about Justin Fields and Tyrod Taylor last year.
He- They just weren't.
You're right.
And they were worried about Breece Hall, and he still had 1,000 yards.
Yeah, he's been the one bright spot the last few years.
I mean, he was His rookie year was gonna be special, and then he hurt his knee.
So yeah, he, he's, he's a special talent, and like you said, he's done it, you know, with not the greatest support system, and everybody focusing in on him.
And it's not just the run game.
We know he's extremely dangerous in the screen game, and that's, you know I- if you look at highlights from the Jets the last se- the last year, it felt like it was either Breece Hall or, or like Isaiah Williams returning a punt or something like that.
I mean, that- that's kind of what they were.
But yeah, they need him.
You know, him with Garrett Wilson's a pretty deadly combination, and Geno and his ability to push the ball, and let's see what a Donny Mitchell looks like.
I think reports have been good for him.
You know, it's been disappointing for the Jets, as they have two first-round picks that haven't really been able to showcase themselves.
Kenyon Sadiq, the freaky tight end out of Oregon, hi- i- i- he, he's been dealing with a core muscle injury.
Omar Cooper, the receiver from Indiana, has been underwhelming, and I watched him closely on film this week.
I mean, yeah, it don't look all that great.
When you're a first rounder at receiver and you're not starting right now, there's a problem.
When you're a first rounder and you're still playing with five seconds left in the second quarter, the team is not happy, and you're, they're underwhelmed with you.
The, the, though, they, they don't have to tell me anything.
I can just tell you, let alone I studied the player and looked at it.
But, you know, all in all, we know the Jets.
This is a big year, and they've made a lot of great improvements, but they need Breece Hall if they want to play Aaron Glenn, Frank Reich type of football.
Yeah, every year there's this resolve with the Jets to stop being dysfunctional, and every year dysfunction continues.
And as I've said for many years, it all flows from the top.
So we'll see if they can overcome what's flowing from the top with some guys who are healthy and effective- So- and maybe, you know.
Who do you think's gonna Let me ask you this, Paul- Yeah, okay, 'cause I was gonna ask you something too while I'm thinking about this.

I think the Dolphins are gonna finish higher than the Jets in the AFC East.
He thinks the Jets are gonna finish higher than the Dolphins.
Do you have a, have a lean there?
I, I would probably favor the Jets, but I, I, I wouldn't wanna bet money on it.
I would, to, to, to, to your point, it's, it's iffy You know, the, the Dolphins, I guess there's a part of me that I just wanna see a few things.
I got great faith in that group down there, and damn, they looked good the other day against the Commanders.
Malik Willis looked phenomenal, and I think the one thing we're probably sleeping on with the Dolphins is their O line's got a chance to kind of be a force of nature with Devon Achane, and that's probably why Jeff Hafley jokingly said, "I wanna give him the ball 40 times a game."
Well, th- that's the way they're gonna play.
And they will be tougher.
But I, I guess I feel like with some of the additions the Jets made, especially them being veteran ones, the desperation here this year for Aaron Glenn, knowing if they're not better, and then the Frank Reich addition, I'm, I'm gonna take the Jets squeak out the Dolphins there for, for third place in that division.
The most significant development, tangible- Yeah proof that the Dolphins are changing happened in the week one pre-season game when running back Ollie Gordon II flipped the ball at a Commanders player after a play, got a 15-yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct.
And- And Hafley yanked him- See ya from the game- Right and chewed his ass out and made sure everybody understands this is the way it's gonna be.
"A standard without consequences is BS," Hafley- Yeah said.
And man, what, what a stark contrast from having And I like Mike McDaniel, but he didn't exactly- He's not gonna be that run a tight ship.
Yeah, yeah.
What a stark contrast from what they've had there.
Well, you know, he, where's Hafley from?
You know where he's from?
He's from the dirty Jersey.
He's from the dirty Jersey.
We don't play that crap in Jersey.
You flip the ball in Jersey like that, there's gonna be a fight on the field.
There might be a fight off the field.
There might be fights for weeks to come, so he, he knows.
They don't do that in, in No.
But he does, really, he's got an old school way about him.
He doesn't wanna see that.
He's no nonsense.
I thought that kind of showed with the way they played.
They, they literally lined up and were like, "Hey, Washington, we're gonna be different this year.
We are going to run right at you."
And they just kept, like, run the ball, run the ball.
So they worked on that.
We'll see where it goes.
But so you, you like the Giants' chances of sneaking in, obviously, to the, the NFC playoffs a whole lot more than the Jets- Yes I guess is basically what you're saying.

But that seventh spot makes a difference.
It does make a difference.
And I remember when they first proposed it, we were at the combine and we're asking the coaches, "What do you think?
What do you think?"
They all, they all loved it because what's the litmus test to keeping your job?
It's making the playoffs.

Give me that chance.
Yeah.
Give me I've said this about Matt LaFleur.
He probably wouldn't be the Packers' coach right now without that seven seed because they've made the playoffs three straight years as the seven seed.
Without that, they'd be on a four-year streak of no playoff appearances, and they'd probably be onto a new coach by now.
So that seven seed does a lot of work, and it gets a team in that otherwise maybe isn't good enough to be there.
We'll see if a seven seed can ever run the table and win the Super-
