And welcome back to Cubs Roundtable.

I'm Joey Polizzi, talking about all things Cubs.

And the Cubs just had more bad injury luck.

Even though Matthew Boyd will return from the injured list to start Thursday's series finale against the New York Mets, the Cubs have placed two more starting pitchers on the injured list.

They have placed Edwin Cabrera and Ben Brown on the 15-day injured list.

Edwin Cabrera's placement on the IL does not come as a surprise.

We all knew he was going on the injured list after leaving his start on Tuesday early after making a play at first base.

He eventually was carted off the field, and then was seen on crutches in his post-game interview in the clubhouse.

So that was expected.

Now, we don't know how much time Cabrera will miss.

He's gonna go for an MRI today, and we're still waiting for the results of that MRI.

But he will be down several weeks, and there's a good chance he is out through the All-Star break.

But the surprise here with the Cubs was sending Ben Brown to the injured list with a strained neck.

Obviously, this comes out of left field, as Brown, Brown's expected to start Friday's series opener against the Brewers' opposite, Jakob Misiorowski.

But that will not be the case anymore as Brown will go on the injured list and will now be out for at least 15 days.

It could be longer.

He could be activated right when it, right when he's eligible to come off.

But for right now, Brown will be out through the end of June and into the beginning of July.

And obviously, he's a big loss.

He has been the Cubs' best pitcher, most valuable pitcher this season.

And now he goes on the injured list and, and it's gonna be a tough stretch for the Cubs now without Cabrera, without Brown.

Boyd will come back, but the Cubs still need one spot in the rotation.

It's unclear who will get that la- that last rotation spot.

Is it gonna be Jordan Wicks, who has definitely struggled in the big leagues this year in his two starts and has struggled in the month of June down at triple A?

Could it be Vince Velasquez, whose contract was selected by the Cubs on Wednesday?

He has made six starts for the Iowa Cubs this year, but he has also struggled in Iowa this season.

So rough stretch for the Cubs here.

The Cubs already had an ERA over four in since the beginning of May, so now the Cubs have to get through this stretch without Cabrera and Ben Brown.

But let me know what you guys think about these recent injuries.

Who replaces one of Brown or Cabrera in the rotation?

Let me know down below.

And as always, guys, go Cubs go.
