Cubs Suffer Major Blow as Dansby Swanson Heads to IL
The Cubs will place Dansby Swanson on the injured list after he exited Sunday's loss to the Cardinals with left-sided discomfort, with an MRI scheduled for Monday to determine the severity of the injury.

A huge blow for the Chicago Cubs and a disastrous series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday.
Dansby Swanson headed to the injured list after a scary injury.
Just kind of a bad sight for the Cubs.
Top of the third, Swanson comes up to face Hunter Dobbins, swings and misses at the first pitch, immediately slams the helmet down, leaves the game.
He's lifted for James Triantos.
Team later announces, left side discomfort, and then Craig Counsell confirmed after the game Swanson will head to the IL with an oblique injury.
Very unclear at this point how serious the injury is.
The Cubs planning to do an MRI on Monday to get a better idea of severity and timeline.
And really all Cubs fans can do at this point is hope it doesn't affect Dansby for the rest of the season.
You wanna see Swanson in the lineup for the postseason, especially with how good he's played for the Cubs recently.
Yes, this is the best defender on this team.
This is a leader on the infield, a leader in the lineup, and also a guy who has 11 home runs and an .861 OPS over his last 49 games played.
Dansby Swanson has been a pivotal part of the Cubs mid-season surge to a playoff position and their current, positioning, giving the Milwaukee Brewers a run for their money in the NL Central.
But they took a blow, both in the standings this weekend and now to the roster this weekend in a way that should affect them pretty significantly moving forward.
You'd think Nico Hoerner would move over to shortstop with Swanson on the IL.
Probably Pedro Ramirez or Triantos, over at second base in the meantime.
And yeah, it could be a good idea to get a longer extended look at some of these rookies, but not in the middle of a division race.
Not when it hurts your on-field product and hurts the team at a critical stretch of the schedule.
