And the Cubs just simply cannot catch a break.

The Cubs have dealt with so much injury this year, and it looks like another injury has taken place as Trent Thornton left his relief appearance on Monday night against the Tigers after being hit right in the heel in the 10th inning.

He got ahead in the count against Riley Green.

He threw a low fastball to try to get him out, but Riley Green smacked a 109 mile per hour single right at Trent Thornton's heel.

At first, it looked like Thornton was okay because Thornton immediately sprinted after the ball, tried to get him out at first.

The throw was way off, but it looked good that Thornton was able to run full speed at the ball.

But immediately after the adrenaline wore off, Thornton went down to a cross position, limped towards the pitcher's mound, and kind of stumbled as he got there.

He immediately left the game after four pitches.

And obviously, Cubs fans probably thought of the worst-case scenario for Thornton because what else?

The Cubs have dealt with another injury.

Cubs have used a league-leading 33 pitchers this season.

It seems like every time something goes good for the Cubs, someone goes down with an injury.

Well, the Cubs actually got some good news here with Trent Thornton as Thornton is only dealing with a heel contusion.

There appears to be no damage to a surgically repaired Achilles tendon that he tore last season, and x-rays were negative.

So that's some good news that Thornton here only dealing with a heel contusion.

Now, he might still go on the injured list because the limp is pretty significant.

You saw that last night after he left the contest.

But he should not miss too much time, only a bruise to his heel, so just needs to ice it and slowly start to improve that heel.

So overall, good news for the Cubs here with Thornton.

And obviously, Cubs can use some good injury news because it seems like every time an injury happens for the Cubs, we all think the worst.
