David Gabriel Georges Is The Perfect Fit For The Tennessee Vols' offense

Lucas Panzica highlights one key stat that the Tennessee Volunteers' latest commit, David Gabriel Georges, can continue. Josh Heupel and the Vols offense have gotten the most out of first year starting running backs year after year and with Desean Bishop's NFL timeline unknown, DGG could walk into Knoxville in 2027 and hit the ground running.

It is official.

David Gabriel George is going to be a Tennessee Vol.

The five-star running back out of Baylor School in Chattanooga picked up that Vols hat over Ohio State and Ole Miss, and after his senior season at Baylor, he will arrive on campus as one of the highest-rated recruits of the Josh Heupel era.

And there is one stat that should make Tennessee fans very excited about the possibilities of DGG on campus at UT.

It was provided by Tennessee sports information director Bill Martin, who tweeted yesterday that Tennessee has produced three straight 1,000-yard rushers, the longest current streak in the SEC.

All three did it in their first year as the starting running back and were All-SEC.

He adds that Tennessee football has led the SEC in rushing since the start of the Josh Heupel era, the beginning of that 2021 season, averaging over 204 rush yards per game in that span.

And that should get you excited, because at no point in the Heupel era has Tennessee had a running back with as high a ceiling as David Gabriel George.

Of course, the Vols have had good players, NFL players, in those positions, specifically Dylan Sampson, who was a somewhat unheralded recruit that came in and had a record-breaking season for Tennessee in 2024.

But David Gabriel George projects as a first-round caliber talent, as a longtime NFL player, and I think he'll start the moment he steps foot on campus.

And the best part is he may not even have to if Deshawn Bishop is still around in that running back room.

David Gabriel George running into light boxes if that Tennessee offense is running efficiently should get any Vol fan excited.

It's a huge coup for Heupel and his staff, and David Gabriel George is gonna be a Vol.
