Doug Thinks Key Changes Boosts Hope for Commanders
The Commanders target a rebound with new offensive and defensive coordinators, a solid lineup, and revived team spirit. Doug Williams discusses their potential.

The prospects this year of the Commanders, they made some sweeping changes.
They got a new O- OC now, for Jayden Daniels.
You know, they're changing the defense up a little bit.
You know, Dan Quinn, one of the top defensive coordinating-minded coaches, runs the football team.
What's your, what's your expectations this year for this team?
Well, I, I think we got a good outlook on this team.
We, we got two new coordinators defensively and, and offensively, David Blough and, and Durante.
You know, two young guys that are energetic.
this off- this OTA this past year has been great the way the guys came in and, and just looking at them, understanding the year that we had last year, you could see the desire and the burning in their heart to, to make sure we don't go that route this, this coming year, you know?
So i- it's, it's a lot of enthusiasm.
I'm looking forward to it, Dan.
I'm, you know, with, with Jayden as the quarterback and, some of the weapons that we have, I'm looking forward, especially on defense.
I think we helped ourselves a lot on defense and the offense.
The offensive line, I like the offensive line a lot, the running game.
So I, I feel pretty good about our team.
You know, Bernie Kosar said something on our program a couple months ago, and I wanna get your take on it when it comes to developing of quarterbacks.
He said, "When you quarterbacked back in the NFL, you didn't have technology in your ear."
He said that, "We had to dissect the game.
When we got to the line of scrimmage, we had to dissect it.
We didn't have anybody in our ear."
And Bernie seems to think that technology hurts the development of these players because you guys had to know where to go with the ball.
You had to see your pre-snap reads.
You had to know all that.
People weren't in your ears.
Do you agree with him a little bit on that?
I think, I think the key here is the systems are so much different.
You know, I sit down, I look at our games all the time and I look at when Coach Gill was there and the way we did things, and when I was in Tampa, Bill Nelson and the way we did things.
It was one of them situations, your job was to make sure you watched the defensive back, and wherever they went, that's it, that's not where you wanted to go.
I mean, that's how we was taught.
Where now, you know, you got a system.
You got one, two, three.
You, if one ain't open, you go two.
If three, if three open, throw it away or scramble.
You know, it's, it's a whole new ballgame the way they coaching today compared to back in yesteryears.
