At long last, it seems like Tommy Edmund is finally healthy.
Lingering ankle issues have forced him to miss massive chunks of each of the last two seasons, as did a wrist injury in 2024, limiting him to only 162 total regular season games over the last three years combined.
But he came back for the Dodgers about a month ago and has played great ever since.
Mixing in at second base, third base, left field, and even taking a few reps back in center, Edmund has a 360, 439, 535 slash line with two home runs, two stolen bases, 16 runs scored, and 17 RBIs over 100 plate appearances hitting towards the bottom of the Dodgers lineup.
Split over his last 11 games, he's been even more impressive with a 378 batting average, one homer, eight RBIs, a 1,000 OPS, and 10 runs scored, while showing off the best batted ball metrics he ever has in his career, with career bests in barrel rate and hard hit rate in a not-so-small sample size of 70 batted ball events.
This has also come with an uptick in bat speed compared to each of the last two seasons from both sides of the plate for the switch-hitting Edmund, and that makes sense because these ankle injuries have really destroyed Edmund lately.
Acquired by the Dodgers at the 2024 deadline, he was a key cog in their World Series push that year with a 328 batting average and 862 OPS during those playoffs.
But by next issue, those ankle-ish injuries cropped up, and he's missed the better part of the last two seasons trying to get them right.
Now he's back, seemingly fully healthy, playing every day, and will have way too many opportunities to be a productive player in any part of the Dodgers lineup to have just a 20% roster rate currently on Yahoo.
