Fanatics Has BIG News
Mike and Jesse are back, and Mike feels a renewed sense of enjoyment in the hobby after buying the lot last week. Fanatics has major news. Plus, we hit voicemails!
Video Transcript
Number one, you could never per never in your wildest dreams could you lift what I lift.
You could never perform an athletic ability like I do, and you could never be as short as me.
All right, we're here.
Me and Jesse just spent an hour talking about our feelings.
Jesse cried and cussed.
It was 40 minutes, and I wouldn't say a tear rolled down.
It was just like w- when I- And you cussed?
I You can't be sure of that.
He absolutely cussed.
No.
And that's fine.
I said, "Shoot."
We have a, we have an abbreviated show.
We spent most of it offline.
But it was good.
Should've just had the whole conversation on here.
It was good.
It was all I think it was good for us.
Yeah, until you screw it up again.
Or I screw it up again.
Two more Here's a- We're, we're- Two ego- really dumb people two selfish egomaniacs- trying to be like, "Oh, no, I know it's my fault.
I think it's all yours, though."
It's a weird world 'cause it's like I don't think I think people would probably say, like, if it's egomaniac, I think because of our dynamic, it'd be like, oh, Mike, I think people misjudge my egotism a lot.
Like, there's a lot over here.
I try and play it cool.
Oh, you get off easy.
Correct.
I, I try and play it down.
Oh, trust me.
There's some ego.
Any time we say there's been a fight, it's like- "Oh, fricking Mike hardened it."
Mike did it again.
By the way, I would like a moment of silence.
Not great for a podcast.
Oh, yeah.
We're gonna take a quick moment.
Which one?
Which one are we doing it for?
Okay.
Take a quick moment.
Okay, that was for Dolly Parton.
We're gonna take another quick moment.
Go.
Papa Gio, morning number two, waking up in the old county jail.
He got seven days.
I think they gave him at least one, potentially two, for time served.
Oh.
He had one of the highest blood alcohol levels, I believe, is what the DA- What did she say?
ADA, assistant DA.
Second-highest she's ever seen?
She's like, "That's probably the second-highest I've..." Yeah, pretty good.
That's actually a record.
So, we are hoping he comes out with a newfound zeal for life.
You can give money- We're getting him a job if you want.
Commissary is available.
Get him a job.
That's what we're looking for.
Let's get old Papa Gio working.
It's gonna get him in a better mind.
He's gonna sit over here again.
There you go.
We miss him.
All right, quick collector note.
We talk about flipping and zipping and zotting and zooting.
Yes.
I talked about that big lot I bought from Brian Alecki, listener of the show from day one.
It came in the other day.
44 freaking pounds of slabs, by the way.
Good Lord.
Like, we did a We, me and Shane have a cool video we're gonna release, like, the whole reveal of it.
355 slabs, 44 pounds, went through it the other day.
I think there's 90 Brady slabs.
I sat there like a child and comped every one, not to be like, "What's it worth?"
But, like, just looking through, what was this worth 10 years ago 'cause about half of these things I owned, 15 years ago even.
Oh, geez.
I went through and pulled eight to 10 cards where I was like, "Great."
Like, and then I had to go through and update my collection thing on Card Ladder.
I had s- like, the most fun with a collection I've had, at a- as much as I ever remember having buying a collection.
'Cause I was like, "I don't know what these all are.
They're fricking unreal.
It's all Brady stuff.
Oh, this is the game that I remember this happening," or, "Hey, I remember ripping this product with Russ."
I called Russ about it.
18 years ago, we were ripping this stuff open, and now we're And so my overall point, this will be short 'cause the show needs to be quick today, if you cannot get hyped and super excited about anything in the hobby, like, i- if you cannot step back and say, "Screw breaking.
Forget the flip.
Forget the content.
Forget that I hate Jesse, but now I don't hate him as much," "But I might when I leave the studio today."
Forget everything else.
If there's not that thing, at least one in the hobby, where it has n- nothing to do with monetary value, you're just excited, and you legit sit in your office or room by yourself I, I'm by myself entirely- I would enjoy this fricking just like lay I'm like, I, at one point, I laid them out.
I was like, "Look at these, look at these slabs."
Yeah.
This is fricking aw- That Topps Own The Game SGC 7 is worth $11.
I wouldn't sell the fricking thing for 50.
Do you play in your mind, too, as you're looking at it, like- Poker.
Yes oh, I'm gonna put this here, or I would show this off here.
This is 'Cause I, that's what I When I see, like, just a bunch of slabs I love- Okay it's like my mind goes to, how could I show this to other people?
Oh.
No, I mean, a little because I was like, "I will tell Russ about some of these."
Yeah.
My other big thing that was, okay, these are going right in the s- I have, I have multiple two-row boxes in the safe, depending on what they are.
I was like, "Well, this one has to go in the higher end one of Brady.
These are in the cheap keepers no matter what 'cause it doesn't matter.
They're not worth anything."
And then just the nostalgia of, again, the picture on the card.
Like, dude, there was one, there was a card from 2003.
Oh, man, I gotta, I gotta picture.
It was like 2003, 2004.
It's the first ever, and I remember this 'cause we knew this years ago, first ever card he appeared on with a red jersey.
Oh, okay.
Yep.
And that wasn't a rookie.
He has two rookies like that.
Like, that was just cool.
Hey, here's his first numbered parallel from 20 Anyways, if there's nothing like that for you in this hobby, you are doing it wrong, and you're probably gonna get COVID.
Geez.
So that's it.
I would say, like, you, if, if that's your- You have to get happy those are the people that are probably going to jump to sneakers when they make a comeback- Sure or records or, you know, they, they're looking for just the job of it, not the enjoyment.
The next hustle.
Yeah, exactly.
Yeah, if you're looking for the next hustle, that's fine, by the way.
Yeah, exactly.
Come in, enjoy the hustle, leave.
But, like, the true guys, and even on the show, we talk about this today, you forget the little guy.
At, deep down in the heart of my hearts, I am the little guy.
I'm five foot six and a half.
Five foot seven maybe.
That license is a lie.
I h- my license says five nine.
I know.
That's what I'm saying.
Dad still has his license, by the way.
Did not make him turn it in, I don't think.
Do you just, like, carry it in his wallet?
Had to stay for the sentencing, but Oh, actually, you know what?
Hang on a second.
That's funny.
What do you have?
I still have it.
Oh, what?
I checked it.
He's like, "They might maybe like..." He thinks they'll, like, make me turn it 'cause this is his, his- Where did he get that?
He's lost some weight.
Yeah.
I mean, I knew he had, but that's weird.
It's like a year ago.
He was a fatty.
Oh.
Excuse me.
He was a tubbers back then.
Thank you.
What does this say?
Five six.
Yep.
Oh, so his is, is truthful, I would say.
No, he's not.
He's five five.
Five five.
Has the old address on here.
It's good for traveling, though.
It's the true ID.
That's why he's like, "I don't wanna lose it.
I need that for, like, traveling stuff."
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So.
Is he gonna call?
Like, do you think he'll, he'll call?
I don't know.
I just You know what?
I actually Can we call?
I was about to say, has he called?
Oh, call the county.
And we're doing Hey, real quick.
We have breaking news from Fanatics, by the way, that we're gonna get to in a minute.
Yep.
I have my super quick just to watch update.
We've got voicemails.
Yes.
I would- And we have Jesse cried.
No.
No, I did not.
Can you call the jail?
No, I don't think so.
I mean, like- Why?
Just call that's not a thing, is it?
Like, where you can like- Call- "Hey, you got a caller" just look it up.
Like, hey, how do we get in touch with- All right.
And Jesse's gonna do that.
Let me Can I do this while you're doing that?
Sure.
Real quick.
I talked to I flipped the 2026 Breitling Super O- Super Ocean watch to a guy named Wes.
Mm-hmm.
He was a gentleman.
I paid 3,200 bucks for the watch.
I got back 250 in- Venmo Okay I got back this card.
I don't know if you can see it over there.
Blue Velocity 2023 Victor Can you see that?
Can't.
Closer.
2023 Victor Wembanyama rookie Blue Velocity PSA 9.
It's like 100, 150 bucks.
Red, white and blue 2023 Prizm.
Red, white and blue PSA 10 Stroud rookie.
Okay.
Which I like.
I like Stroud going forward.
Yeah.
About 150 bucks, so call it 250 to be safe.
Yep.
So 500 between that and the Venmo.
Yep.
And then this old gal, you remember that card.
What is that going for these days?
Ven- Ven- Wembanyama 2023 Prizm Silver PSA 10.
They're doing, like I wanna say it's about tw- I only put it in, like, 2750 in a deal, but these were 4,000 for a while.
So I have not effectively flipped the watch yet.
Ah.
I've traded the watch, and I now have $3,200 That's not true.
I have 2,950 into these three cards.
So- I'm getting into the flipping watch game.
I freaking love it.
Bought it on Vookim Live, eBay Live.
It was awesome.
So the watch, you did not make any money on that deal.
It was just an, a dollar for dollar trade essentially?
But not really.
I paid 3,200.
I got a deal on the watch.
I got 250 back- Yep and these cards.
So I now have 2,950 into these cards.
Ah, but do you think you can get more than that?
And even right now they're I could get 33, 3,400 right now.
Okay.
But if that goes back to four grand- Sure.
Yeah, yeah and even, like, Stroud in a couple weeks, what's he do?
Yeah.
Another Wembby rookie.
I think I'm gonna make 800 bucks total when it's all said and done- On that deal on 3,200.
Okay.
Yeah.
So.
That's pretty good.
I, I mean- I was excited.
All right, so- Should we call in County Joe?
There is a number to call.
Call him.
Yeah.
Give him a shout.
I'm- Do you have his Oh, do you have his inmate ID?
My- You have that because your deposit goes- Oh, yeah.
I got to pull it up What did you put in his commissary, by the way?
I gave him 100 bucks.
Did you really?
Yeah.
Good.
Is that his- Another guy gave him 25.
Oh.
A guy reached out to me about it.
Can you pull up his acc- oh, if you've donated to dad, let me know.
Let me see.
Sumner Sheriff Commissary.
I'm gonna make a phone call here.
It's very exciting.
All right.
It You do have to go to jailfunds.com.
Okay.
I mean, I hope he What if this is just, like, a big scam?
It's like- Well, I got called by the way.
We're, we You already get the scam calls.
Russ's wife got one.
I got a couple.
"Hey, this is somebody over here at the sheriff's office.
Actually, we forgot about this bond thing.
We're gonna need you to come on down and pay this."
Oh.
They, they just, like, prowl on the public records.
That's really cool.
So, one other quick plug.
So I have his ID.
Yeah.
Okay.
Jesse has it.
One other quick plug.
Pardon the Nonsense, that's, like, our little version of Around the Horn, Pardon the Interruption.
Me, Gary, and Jason, the two bearded rednecks you met.
Gary and Jason- I don't think they're rednecks are with- Ball card guys ball card.
What do you call a Northern guy you think is kind of a hick?
A re- A Northern guy?
Um- Yeah, 'cause they're from Ohio.
Interesting.
I don't know.
Brandon, anything to contribute to- Yeah.
Brandon, Bren- Brendan.
Wow.
Dang it.
That was your fault.
And he's sleeping anyways.
We kept him waiting for an hour.
That show is gonna release on our YouTube tomorrow night.
Okay.
It's pretty cool.
I think you still call them rednecks.
You do.
Okay.
Okay, good.
Good, good.
Yeah.
Good.
I, I hate to ask you this.
It's 11 minutes.
Okay.
I would love your feedback.
Okay.
I'm not gonna lie- 11 minutes tomorrow your name has been It's just gonna be a video.
It's not live.

Relax.
I know you're a bum.
Ah.
Ha ha.
It would be a pot- Ah.
I'm Yeah.
Sure.
Imitating dad's cellmate over there.
Yeah.
It would be a paid position.
Not a lot.
Mm-hmm.
hosting and moderating.
This one we took it to Like, I was host for those, or I was mod for those two.
Mm-hmm.
And Jason was mod for us and Gary, and we awarded the points.
Winner got to make a little rant at the end.
Interesting.
We want to find a dedicated judge/mod.
Oh, a judge of all of it.
Okay.
That'd be fun.
I- Daylen's name has come up I'm very curious to check this out.
Your name has come up- Daylen would be good 'cause there's not a lot of sports knowledge.
And I'm like, this would actually be fun 'cause Jesse could just base it on the credence of the argument.
Oh, argument alone.
We kinda want that.
Daylen is gonna whistle and freaking go nuts.
I don't know what hap- I love Daylen.
So tomorrow night though on the SCN YouTube, it I think it's gonna be pretty cool.
Okay, awesome.
I will be checking it out.
I had to get that in now 'cause I, Jesse can't get mad- Pardon- Jesse cannot be mad at me for that Pardon the Nonsense?
Is that what it's called?
Pardon the Nonsense?
Yes.
Okay.
I'm in.
I'm in.
I'm excited.
PTN.
PTN.
All right, let's call.
I am, I'm gonna tell you I'm more nervous about this than anything else.
Is Tennessee a two-party Brendan, look this up right now for real.
Is Tennessee a two-party state?
I think it's one.
Somebody from Lakeside Taxidermy just called us.
I don't know.
Shout out to your business, sir.
All right.
Um- Should've taken it I'm gonna call.
I'm- All right.
Like, if we, if I get a person, do we have to immediately say like, "Hey, this call's-" No.
Well, that's why we're checking with Brendan if he wakes up.
All right.
Before I call, do we need to We should probably just wait?
Yeah, let it ring.
All right.
Oh, I gotta put it closer.
Brendan, we need you quick here, pal.
Two-party state.
Two party.
Here we go.
Oh, God.
Brendan's gonna screw the pooch here.
You have reached the Sumner County Sheriff's Office.
If this is an emergency, please hang up and dial 911.
No.
For jail, get jail information, or reach jail administration, press two.
I'm leaning towards him.
If you need to speak to a deputy for a non-emergency issue or to file a police report, press three.
This man's a perv.
For warrants, press four.
Warrants.
For records, press five.
For animal services, press six.
That's why the taxidermist- For sex offender registration inquiries, press seven.
If you're listening to that- For criminal investigations, press eight.
I don't know.
I think we're two.
Well, I think it's two.
For department directory by last name- I think we're two Brendan's internet went out press one to inquire about a visit.
His internet went out?
Press two for jail booking.
Press three for jail records.
Press four for medical records.
Press five for jail supervision.
One-party state.
Press six, jail administration.
Press seven for juvenile detention.
I don't- Six?
Press eight for commissary services.
One was about a visit.
I know.
Press the star key to return to the main menu.
I don't know.
Nope.
Nope.
Where's the repeat?
Six.
Go six.
Six?
No one's listening at this point anyways- Yeah, I just- so we're fine.
Brendan, hold.
We can skip to.
Here we go.
All right.
Nervous.
Intimidating ring.
Lot of rings.
No one's working at the jail?
No one cares.
It's a riot.
Papagio started a riot and no one's picking up.
No one's ever made it this far.
How do we know?
This is anti-climactic.
I know.
Well, maybe cutting this- I'm sorry, the person you are trying to reach has a voicemail box that has not been set up.
Just some guy's phone?
Wow.
Well, we're not talking to Papa Gio, I'm guessing.
Uh- All right.
I was gonna ChatGPT it.
If you, if you do go, you wanna go to Sumner County Jail, or, if you- Is that where you're at, Sumner County Jail?
I guess it's actually just Sumner is what you go to.
So if you go to, like, the, the correctpay.com, you put in Tennessee, then you go to Sumner, and then step three- Why are we promoting this?
Commissioner.
'Cause here's the commissary deposit.
If you put in, once you're there, you can just put in GSFE- Oh, hey and it pulls him up.
By the way, in general, he has to place the outgoing call.
They use the City Telecoin, CTC.
Dang it.
So.
All right.
Well If he's just been booked and you need to speak to him as soon as possible, you can call the jail at this number, but that's not the case.
Does he know your number by heart?
Yes.
Okay.
Okay.
We can, we can move on.
We just need- All right.
Oh, we have breaking news, Fanatics.
Oh, yeah, we gotta cover that.
Hey, Fanatics breaking news.
Hey.
Okay, let me preface this.
They sent us a whole a- I don't know who sent the read for this thing, but we're professionals over here.
As, as was just heard by the phone call with the jail.
Um- What's the vibe?
I have said this in the past.
We have been critical of Fanatics when warranted.
We try to be praiseworthy of Fanatics when warranted, and we try not to over-inflate everything that happens.
So about a month ago, they did the cutting of the seal on, Topps Chrome update megas with the intent of, "Hey, we can now sell a little bit more of these online because people will not be able to just buy these all over the place and resell them," and people have faith that, "Hey, this is not a res- resealed box."
Yep.
The seals are End all be all?
By no means.
Yeah.
But it was a step in the right direction.
It was like, "Hey, we're at least acknowledging people are buying this stuff and flipping it.
Not enough is getting in the hand of the end user."
By the way, that, what they did there is something that Pokemon was doing, but they can't do that anymore.
Or the, I should say, the Targets and other retail shops were doing, but they can't do it anymore because they are getting threatened with lawsuits saying that it's not their product.
But in this situation, because- It is their product it is Fanatics' product, I- They can do whatever they want.
Yeah, exactly.
So got a call the other day, and we got the announcement about this now, which by the way, Brent, that leads me to my next point, Brent.
I don't know if you're on here.
This episode cannot release till 3:00 Central Time.
Today.
So don't be too quick- Yeah with the edit.
Two hours.
So starting with 2025, 2026 Topps Chrome Black Basketball, which releases today.
It's a cool SKU.
It came out.
Our cost was a little under 300 bucks a box.
I don't remember exactly what- Wait, can you say that?
Under.
I'm not saying exactly what it was.
Okay.
The value, though, they're doing, like, 500 a box now.
Very expensive, right?
They have two packs and one in case card, which is an auto per box.
So basically three packs, as it were.
Two are sealed packs with a numbered hit and a rookie.
The other one is just an in case card that is not in a pack.
So you have three things when you open the box.
So what they've done is, I'm gonna read some of this word for word even though these people made a note not to, 'cause I'll- Don't be the judge of that.
Just, all right.
By the way, the short version of the vibe.
I love that line.
Whoever wrote this, well done.
Don't .
This is a digital rip.
They are not digital cards.
So you think e-pack with Upper Deck.
You are ripping the pack online, but the cards are 100% physical.
They're available on Fanatics Collect by the time you hear this, and you put them right into your vault.
You can have them sent to you, whatever.
So you're just ripping the card online.
You're ripping the pack online.
What is interesting, though, is the price they did it.
So it's 100 bucks per pack.
The pack will be one of the three that would've been in the box.
By the way, three times 100 is?
300.
When I point to you- Three remember, that's the Jonah Hill.
Brad, Brad, I'm Brad Pitt, you're Jonah Hill.
300.
Yes.
That means these are way below current retail, about half of retail value right now.
You rip one pack, it costs you $100.
I do wanna get some of these details.
Maximum six packs per day, which would be about two hobby, two hobby boxes.
Two packs, yeah.
When you rip the pack, you will either get, I think it's four or five cards, one being numbered, one being a rookie, or you get the auto.
You have a one in three chance.
Yes.
I've- It's still a lot of money, by the way, 100 bucks a pack, but in comparison to the actual physical SKU of this, it is not, it is a half, half the value.
Good.
Well, they did point out- Please so it's four cards per pack.
Every pack guarantees an autographed numbered parallel or exclusive parallel, and there are two exclusive parallels, a black glitter out of 11- Oh, which are just to this.
That's right teal glitter out of 64.
Yep.
Only in this product.
Otherwise, it's just the same as the physical.
They're the same exact cards.
These are the cards aside from those two exclusives.
Yeah.
This is what you would rip.
Now, some people will hear this and be like, "It's 100 bucks a pack.
That's egregious," or, "It's a digital pack.
I don't wanna do it."
Fine.
I'm just telling you the conversation I had with a higher-up on Tu- Tuesday?
Oh, see, I was driving back after I left dad at the courthouse on Tuesday.
Thank you.
Yes.
It all comes back to Papa Gio.
The fact, you can hate Fanatics, love Fanatics, I don't care.
They are the key holder in the yard.
That's a prison term.
Thank you.
They run the joint.
Dad knows about that.
There's a theme to this episode.
Yeah.
The fact that they are at least going out of their way to try to acknowledge, "Hey, we realize a lot of people are being priced out.
We have to be more innovative."
This is now the second thing in a month you've seen.
Neither one of them are the most earth-shattering, unbelievable things, but they are both steps in the right direction.
I will give credit where it's due.
Do I still think we have to find a way to better incorporate card shops at times or breaking time and, and get the balance right?
Yes, no question.
But when things like this happen, I also think it's the responsibility of us and the other big mouths in the industry to say, "Hey, you know what?
They're trying."
They are at the very least trying.
I think it's a good thing.
And by the way, it's not an NFT.
I'm glad, thank God.
We didn't need a digital asset.
Yeah.
It's just a digital pack.
The cards are real.
I think it's a, it's a cool thing, and the fact that they acknowledge pricing is becoming an issue I think is at least a win.
Just a couple additional notes, like they have a little Q&A, 'cause there's a lot of questions I'm sure some are gonna have, so I- Oh, hang on.
Let me ask the question are there.
Let me ask, I have the tone- Okay I have the tone of the question.
Sure.
This is in the email, by the way.
"Wait, so are these digital cards?"
No, the rip is digital.
The card is real.
Whatever you pull is a physical card sitting in your collection, and you can just ship it home whenever you want.
By the way, I love this is entitled Questions People Will Probably Ask You.
This is a podcast, Fanatics.
They're not gonna ask us anything.
I like the second one.
Doesn't this mean- Doesn't this mean less for physical collectors?
You have to repeat it Isn't that just a way of saying bummed out?
Um- It doesn't rhyme doesn't this mean the- Hang on.
The warehouse guys weren't here.
Do it again The physical card part I think is one question that a lot of people are probably gonna ask, but the answer is no.
The full chrome black checklist still ships in physical product.
Some as alwa- same as always.
Uh- You're not good at reading the instant packs are just adding a few exclusive parallels on top.
There you go No different than how the retail mega boxes hobby versions have always had their own exclusives.
What are the odds of pulling something good?
Printed and fixed- Having fun with this now just like the back of a physical box- Yep, one in three every pack has an auto number parallel or exclusive parallel guaranteed, and it is autos one hit in every three.
So that actually makes me wonder, if you buy three, does that mean you are guaranteed, or is it just those are the odds, so there is a chance?
No, because you could buy two and hit two, two autos.
Yeah You could buy nine and hit none.
That's- It's just odds Yeah Just pack odds.
Again, where do the cards actually go?
Right to your Fanatics Collect vault.
You can keep them there or ship them right to your house.
Isn't this basically a break?
No.
No.
Go ahead.
No, you're buying and opening your own sealed pack on your own.
No one else is involved.
Well, the computers.
I mean, somebody's opening the digital packs.
I mean- That's a faux pas.
And then when can I actually do this?
Right now.
What are you doing?
These go on sale at 3:00 s- well, 4:00 Eastern today on the 27th.
The If you- What is this blue?
Can I read the blue box, or is that not- Ooh Some of that's not fair.
Okay.
No fair Yeah, maybe not.
I would say this.
Good If you've ever done a ePack with Upper Deck, it sounds very similar to that.
It's just accessing your cards before you get them physically.
That's what it is.
You'll get your cards physically, because they're all physical.
You're just getting- It's just a digital pack with physical cards How did they know that that's how we'd read this?
One last question.
How big were Jesse's tears?
I did not have tears on my- Well, you're very sensitive over here eyeball.
Um- All right, that's it.
We can be done.
Yeah, I think The, here's one question for you.
Can we not be done?
So we talked about the You In fact, I liked how you were, It's like you knew.
You referenced the whole pack ripping thing, or n- the box ripping, taking the cellophane off before you actually took it home.
Now they're coming out with this.
Do you have any thoughts of where they may go after this?
Because someone brought up an idea this morning, and I was like, I th- it's, it makes a lot of sense.
Straight boxes.
By the way, this- Straight, oh, straight boxes?
Yeah Like, just no- Take a half of what you're selling at the EQL, which people are just buying to resell.
Yeah Rip them over there.
If they can't be resold, people have to rip them.
Oh, like rip them on the site?
Because you- It's a digital rip, yes By the way, you go to Fanatics Collect to do this.
If you wanna- Yep get involved, Fanatics Collect is where you can go and buy into this.
But yeah, do an actual box over there.
Maybe.
A- and again, the other piece of this, too, like we talked about last time, what's the next way to incentivize shops, like Shepherd talked about it.
Mm-hmm.
What's the next way to incentivize shops with, a hobby product that comes out?
Yeah.
So, so the next thing for me is continued innovation.
Whatever that is, pricing is obviously a major issue.
And by the way, it's not all Fanatics' fault.
Like, if people just wanna pay more and flip stuff- Yeah that's on them, but the fact that they see it and are trying, I, I do, I give them Hats off to them in that regard.
So I just think the next thing is something else new that we're gonna try.
I think they, I think they're working on grading.
Okay.
I think there, I think there's a real world where they are going to do grading.
I just don't know how that works yet.
I, I've got a theory, but that theory also makes me question if it should be brought up.
We can't share this.
Did you get this text as well?
I don't know.
I haven't looked at my phone.
Oh, my God.
What is it?
Is it from the- Uh- Is it from the H's?
Yes, okay.
I haven't seen it.
Good news.
It's good news.
all right.
There you go.
Now I'm gonna cry.
Okay, let's go.
Wait.
Well, now I need to see what it is.
Voicemails.
Don't say it, though.
You're bad at this.
Don't text anything about it like last time.
Every time you text, you ruin things.
Wait.
Joe Bartel, by the way, will come here next ti- next Thursday.
We were gonna do football talk.
We had heart-to-heart talk instead.
Wait.
It was- Do you wanna just, do you wanna just read what my Do you wanna just read my text?
Wait, what?
Oh, ho, ho, ho, ho.
Here comes the competitiveness.
What?
Did you not get a text?
No, I did.
Oh, thank God.
I'm, I'm looking at it.
Oh, God, I thought you My nightmare was you didn't.
Oh, God.
And then it was like, "Mike got it first."
Oh, don't worry.
I would've been mad at you, though.
Oh, well that's good.
Well, yeah, but you know, there's a different, there's a different tolerance level.
That's insanity- Okay, let's go 'cause there was a big guess the other way.
Okay.
Voicemail bag?
Voicemails.
We're That's it.
We're going voicemails.
We'll be back Monday with a full show.
Today was short.
We do have- It is what it is there is, like, other little pieces of news, but we can talk about it when Joe comes on next week with football.
Is it football news?
It's football related.
Awesome.
It was like the debut pack stuff.
I have so- Oh, I have some, sponsor news I have to share with you off air.
Oh, okay.
Good news.
Maybe returning in a lesser way, but maybe a return.
Interesting.
Okay.
Return to the All right.
Voicemail bag comes to you from voices.
All right.
This one's from- Yep five days ago, six days ago.
Oh, good.
Timely.
Is Gio out of jail?
No.
Hello.
I'm going to remain anonymous.
I am from Pittsburgh, PA, which is a single party to answer your question from a few episodes ago.
Is there a right way to ship cards after you sell them?
I use a bubble mail- mailer, and that's it, but I've seen so many ways people ship cards.
Do you have any advice?
Thank you.
A bubble mailer.
That's it.
You just put it in a card- Killer question and a team Can you call him back?
I do, but I don't think I can.
I kinda wanna call him back.
He, he wants to be anonymous.
That's okay.
Leave, leave him anonymous.
We'll, we'll blast his yeah, wrap the card in something, cardboard, something like that, a little bit steady.
Wrap it, put it in a team bag, put it in a bubble mailer.
Done.
Very simple.
You win.
I've been, I've noticed a lot more people putting them in boxes, breakers that is.
Oh, if it's a nice card, yeah, box the crap out of it.
But I mean, like, even breakers are putting, like- Dude garbage in there.
These ca- Well, when I say that, like, if I hit nothing, they're putting base cards in there.
Yeah.
Dude, these came shipped in an eBay authentication box- Oh, those are nice and then wrapped up and then in a bubble mailer.
That was pretty But again, $3,500 package.
Yeah But it was cool.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Wes, well done.
Oh, Jesse's coughing.
He's had an emotional day.
All right, next question.
Voicemail, excuse me Hi, this is Donnie from Canonsburg.
This- This has gotta be- This is a real voice?
This, this is your neck of the woods, is it?
Where is it from?
Canonsburg?
What's the s- what's the area code?
Eight one four.
Ooh, Brendan.
Brendan, are you back, by the way?
Hang on a second.
Is Brendan back?
We got the, we got the photo up.
I can't see.
What's up with this freaking internet?
I can't see either.
I don't wanna see him.
I just wanna hear him.
Yeah, my internet stinks, but yes, I'm back.
Can you check up where that, area code is from, please?
Eight one four?
Eight one four.
Yeah, eight one four, please.
Thank you.
Okay, go ahead and proceed.
This question's mostly for Jesse- Yes but I would maybe like to hear Mike's grandiose thinking about it.
Thank you.
It's okay.
How tall do you think, and how much athletic success do you think Mike would've had to have where he wouldn't be a grown man talking about how much he bench presses and how rich he is on a podcast?
Call him back.
Call him back.
So- Call him back my thought is he would have to be- Hang on at least five ten and be first team all conference in high school, and then, you know, maybe play some in college, definitely a little bit.
Fair.
But then he couldn't also be, like, six four and then be bad at sports because then he'd be do-doing something weird like taking steroids to be good at beer league softball so, yeah, I would really like to know kind of Jesse's thoughts and then, like, what kind of crazy Mike's, you know, what he thinks about this because, like, th- like, Mike, no one cares.
You're, you're short king.
You're moving a bar, like, three inches.
Like, come on.
All right.
Love the show.
Bye-bye.
Guy cared enough to call though.
That's what makes you feel good.
So good.
That was a Jesse caller, by the way.
That was- It was a nine-minute question.
That's all, just so you know.
That was so Call him back.
Well, you've been wanting the troll calls.
I do.
Call him back.
You've been wanting the troll calls.
I have a bench press milestone I wasn't even gonna talk about.
Now I'm definitely going to- You gotta- for sure with this guy tell it to him first.
What was his Did we give a name?
He said his name.
I forgot what it was.
Donnie.
Donnie.
What a stupid name.
Your call has been forwarded- Oh to an automated voice messaging system.
Call him one more time.
Call him one more time.
Sometimes you gotta get him twice.
Sometimes you gotta get him twice.
Just get him one more time, and I'll leave it alone.
If not, I'm leaving a voicemail anyways.
All right.
So we will have to Brendan.
Donnie, I'm s- I, I- Don't be sorry I don't know if I'm sorry or not you wanna be a troll.
This is the This is perfect.
I apprec- By the way, Donnie is to be applauded.
Donnie did way over his best.
Here's one thing I'll do that his parents never did.
I'll praise him.
Your call has been forwarded to an automated- What a fantastic leaving a voicemail voice messaging system.
At the tone, please record your message.
When you've finished recording, you may hang up or press one for more options.
First of all, Donnie, which is a stupid name, number one, you could never pr- never in your wildest dreams could you lift what I lift.
You could never perform an athletic ability like I do, and you could never be as short as me.
I guarantee you're walking around six feet tall, just a lumbering buffoon, just w- you know, hanging out with your folks all the time.
The basement, the Wi-Fi is working.
I'm Donnie.
Look at me go.
Leave Donnie alone.
Donnie, I'm gonna tell you this, my favorite call we have had to date.
Donnie got right into it.
He had a shtick.
He was a little negative.
Donnie, you are allowed to call anytime.
Anytime you wanna join the show, we'll fly you to Nashville.
Oh, dear God.
I freaking love it.
Donnie thinks he's Team Jesse until he gets down here.
Me and him would murder you verbally.
Why?
Donnie, you are my favorite caller of all time.
I love you.
Goodbye.
I love him.
I can't, I can't help but like the guy.
Is there a way to favorite these?
I would slap Donnie around like nobody's business.
Oh my God.
Started doing incline bench press.
Yeah, you didn't even g- you didn't even tell him about your benching.
Ooh.
I wasn't even gonna I just told Jesse.
I wasn't even gonna say it.
Incline bench- Yep different animal.
What are you up to?
Good night.
You got 100?
Yeah.
You got a- So I did 205 for three sets of eight.
205 for three sets of eight.
I was struggling.
Well, I mean, like, the incline Well, it, does it- Incline is- It depends on how inclined too, right?
No, it's pretty set.
Like, you're just sort of- Oh, okay.
By far the most difficult, in my opinion.
Decline is my best.
Flat bench, a- almost as good, but, but incline substantially less.
And are we saying- We could talk to Funkle about this over-under on three inches, though, just to be clear.
We're talking about me, so- Like You're welcome.
Way over.
All right.
Next voicemail.
What's that?
I mean, we haven't had a bad one yet.
No, Donnie's my number one though.
Hey, it's, Sean Delacorte from Champaign, Illinois.
Uh- Ooh just had a quick question.
With Jordan inserts kind of going pretty nuclear right now in the last few years, he's the GOAT, obviously, of the sport.
Do you think his- Pause this.
Pause this.
Hey, sweetheart.
Yes?
You're talking about Larry Bird.
Larry Joe Bird is the GOAT in basketball.
Michael never won three MVPs in a row.
So thank you.
Eh, in 15, 20 years- Oh, well, there's your first crap call trajectory that he's on.
Do you think his inserts are gonna g- kinda go pretty high- Who is he talking to?
Thinking some of those, like, light- I think he's still talking about Jordan Speed, Night Terrors, those kind of things, the Wild Style from the new Chrome set.
No, this is somebody else.
Oh, yeah.
Dang it.
Why were you in here?
Hard to say.
I tell you, I love the insert.
Is that our first bad one?
First bad call.
Not his fault.
It wasn't his fault.
He's in Michigan, I think he said.
He tried his best.
Yeah.
All right.
Next one.
They don't have cell towers in Michigan?
Hey, what's going on, fellas?
It's DJ, from Indianapolis.
I- Already off to a great start, DJ DJ.
Oh, by the way, pace of DJ, best of the day.
Hurrying it up.
He's no Donnie.
Got a couple questions.
Absolutely new to the sports world, know nothing about it.
Oh.
Two weeks ago, I s- got on a podcast, decided to start getting into it, so I'm strictly NBA.
I'm down to Bron, Jordan, Kobe, Steph with a little bit of Wemby 'cause of potential.
Okay.
Any advice for somebody that's new into the game?
I wanna strictly focus on NBA, focusing on, like, obviously graded cards, PSA nines and tens.
You guys give me any advice, that'd be great.
Thanks.
Peace.
DJ, also one of my fa- the pace of the call.
But yeah, so DJ, a couple things I would tell you.
If you're specifically buying cards, just be careful, dude.
Like, that's the most general advice you'll ever hear, but everything is cyclical, right?
Like, hey, Jordan is the GOAT.
It doesn't mean he's always a good time to buy.
Right now, I would not be buying a whole lot of Jordan stuff.
I think you could let the market chill a little bit.
Wemby, it's a great time to buy.
I just showed you those two Like, I just got I mean, I essentially bought these.
I traded for them.
Yeah.
I think it's a perfect time to buy Wemby, and like he mentioned, like, 'cause there's some upside.
Then you buy anything, anybody you believe this season is gonna have an impact, you've got about another month 'cause summer ball's starting to wrap up.
We're gonna start hearing, you know, training camps open.
If you're gonna buy basketball, Wemby or anybody else active Curry, by the way, ne- You look like you wanna say something.
Well, I just wanted to add it in.
Like, I, I- What do you- You're talking about the player specifically, but I was also thinking product that he would wanna focus on as someone new.
Well, we, we can get to some of that too.
I do Just let me hit the player.
Specifically though, if you're going with guys, I would say the GOAT market is really, really hot.
Give it a little time.
The guys who are active, the Wemby's and the Curry's, I would buy right now.
And Curry, by the way, if he gets injured or has kind of a slow season or the team isn't doing great like last year, you'll probably have a chance to buy him during the season.
At some point, the guy's retiring, and there's gonna be a crazy send-off for Curry.
When it comes to Kobe, Jordan, Bron You know, Bron's interesting.
I might buy Bron right now 'cause Philly, I think, is gonna be excellent, and I don't know you'll have another chance this year.
Plus he's already spiked and hasn't really done much since.
Kobe and Jordan, I'd be a little bit hesitant.
You have the right idea with grading.
To Jesse's point about product, yeah, you know, especially with Jo- If they have old cool stuff, focus on that.
Like, obviously Wemby doesn't have older cool stuff.
I also don't want to like a ton of, you know, base Wemby stuff 'cause a lot of those guys have their moment in the sun with base stuff, and it doesn't have This Silver- And I was gonna say, unless you're talking about something like that I think the Silver will come back.
Yeah, the Silver I think will come back.
But, like, the Prism base I don't think will double like they did last year- But- even if he gets hot and if you don't realize 'cause you are new, Prism was essentially the Topps Chrome of Panini, right?
Yeah, the flagship rookie.
It was the flagship product.
Yep.
So that's why there's like a little bit of a reasoning there.
I would also say this, depending on Like, if you're getting in right now, if grading comes back from PSA and they open up a lower tier, whatever that tier is, maybe it's not value, but whatever tier that is, I think what you're gonna see is people are going to have less money into their card and be okay with that card going for a little less, at the same time.
So I, I do think- I don't know what that means, I'm sorry like, so if grading comes back and you can grade it for cheaper- Mm-hmm then all of a sudden the card that would have graded, like say you had to pay 80 bucks, if it's did come back at 30 bucks, you know, a value grade, it's a $50 difference.
Can a card now be sold for $50 less and you still make the same amount of money on it?
You know what I mean?
So if the cards are If the card is equal, they're both PSA 10s, but I paid less to get it graded- Oh I can There are going to be some who may move it for less than what they are moving now.
And therefore, I think it could affect the market.
I, I can tell you agree.
That's a good point.
Disagree.
No, that's a good point.
However- Have you ever seen Billy Madison?
I disagree with what you're about to say, but I will If you think about it, there is a premium on graded stuff right now.
I'm not even disagreeing.
I totally agree.
I know you disagree.
It's okay.
I, I don't even understand what to agree or disagree with, but DJ was an excellent caller, and I don't wanna take away from that.
That's fair.
DJ from Indy, by the way.
Indy, a fantastic l-little big city.
Indianapolis?
Yeah.
Also the capital, by the way.
How about DJ for that?
I've never been to Indianapolis.
No?
You're a little- Cincinnati, Ohio- Oh, no, Cincy's my favorite little big city I was about to say.
I don't even think it's a big city.
All right.
Next one.
Hey, so, I think I uncovered some Shaq shenanigans.
Some what shenanigans?
I don't know.
All right.
We gotta let this play.
Let it play out.
It's okay.
I just wanna go back real quick.
Some Shaq shenanigans.
Shaq.
Oh.
Like, some market manipulation- Ooh with this, '97 insert card.
If you look, Shaquille O'Neal 1997 Upper Deck Records collection was selling for 20 bucks, all day back in May to June, randomly jumped up to $72- Okay which is normal with this market.
But, and then recently it sold for $600.
And then after that, last night it jumped to $1,000.
And- What?
I don't know I was just wondering what you guys thought about that, if that's normal or if you think something's going on.
It's gonna stick right out.
Was that dad in the background?
Is that kid at work?
I don't, I don't know the card specifically.
I would just say whether it's legit or not, we've seen some other w- Here's your card.
This is the 1997 Upper Deck Record.
It's a actual record, like a music record- I don't remember that one it looks like on the background.
I was gonna say, I don't remember seeing it, but- How many sales?
Like, this has to be a crazy sale.
It looks like up at This is from 2022, constant sales about 13 to maybe $20.
And now it's $1,000?
And then he says No, that was a- Is that, is that wrong?
That was a raw one they were talking about.
There Oh, here's some PSA 10s.
So PSA 10 grading, oh- Talk to me, Goose it doesn't show when it was.
Go back to the chart.
What was the sale?
You have the sales chart up.
Well, those were, those were all raw grades.
That's what he's talking about.
What is that top raw sale right there?
That one was $80.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
So maybe he's talking about 10s?
I think he's talking about 10s, I'm guessing.
I wonder if they're verified sales.
Maybe they just got bid up and nothing happened.
I will say the Shaq market I will also not spend any money on right now.
The Shaq market is like 10Xed across the board.
It's wild.
Let it calm down.
That is a, the, the question I keep coming back to is we are seeing a lot of what we saw in 2021.
Where do we get to start buying again?
Here's the thing.
We're not seeing a l Let me push back, your word, off air before you cried.
Um- I swear to God I would just say this, I don't think we're seeing it nearly as many places, though.
Like, Brady and Jordan, a lot of their s- even, like, Brady specifically.
Mm-hmm.
A lot of Brady stuff has chilled out.
Not dropped- Okay but it is not climbing like it was.
Yeah.
Even a lot of Jordan stuff is not.
Kobe, the same way.
The crazy- So you think this is more affecting individual cards as opposed to players?
No.
No, no, I think it's affecting individual players, but not entire s- Okay.
Like in two thou- in 2021, any '90s basketball player went up.
Chris Webber's market jumped.
Hakeem, Duncan, David Robinson, Ewing, everybody.
Yeah.
Now it's like Shaq has gone absolutely nuclear.
Okay.
I see.
maybe individual cards of players have, but we have It's not as widespread as '21.
So I think you can still buy stuff.
Like, like I said, active guys right now, if you think someone's gonna have a good season, buy 'em.
Yeah.
That's why I just picked up Stroud and Wemby stuff.
I think they're both gonna have good seasons.
I'm buying it a lot cheaper than it'll be in three months, in my opinion.
I do- Plenty of moves to be made I, I, I'm getting to that point where it's like I don't think it's just the GOAT market is up.
I think it's the, hey, if they were good at a time, if they were pretty good, maybe even great, or, well, definitely great and above.
But if they were even just pretty good, I think if it's a name that's recognizable, those cards are getting more of a bump than the average name is.
'Cause I think there's so many people joining who aren't big sports guys, but they know that player.
I- But when has that not been the case?
Like when- Well, because like- has an average player gone up?
So, so actually what I was about to look up and s- and check, so, what we've always talked about, is it Dan Marino or maybe more of a, like, John Elway or something like that, those prices- Mm-hmm they've got, like, a lot of cards that have not seen as much increase that we would- Sure I, I wanna pull up, like, one of those.
Do you have a specific card that you would wanna compare to?
A non-rookie or do you want a rookie?
Uh- I mean, they have the same rookie card, so it'd be easy to fi- '84 Topps.
Okay, so let's just do that, 1984.
T-O-P-P-S, Topps.
Topps?
Okay.
John Elway 1984 rookie card.
Go PSA 8.
We want something that has a bunch of It's accessible.
Okay.
I just sold my 9.5, by the way, of that card.
What'd you get for it?
1,780 is what I cleared, so a little over 1,800 bucks at DC.
Is that good?
Yeah, and I got 600 bucks cash 'cause I downgraded one subgrade at the National.
I bought it last year for 1,300.
I sold it this year essentially for 2,300.
Essentially is your word, by the way.
I u- I do use it a lot.
John Elway- That being said- That is another one of my words what's a PSA 8 do, 150 bucks?
Um- I don't really know you're looking at last sale 130.
Oh, okay.
Not bad.
130.
I wanna check a 10, though, just to be- Oh, you're not gonna find any, though.
I mean, yeah, there's only 188 of them.
In the last- 6,000?
Let's see.
In the last- I don't know in the last year it is up.
It's up about 15%.
Um- Oh, that's it not a ton amount.
Not a ton.
Yeah.
nine over the last Now nine- The nine's probably up more is weird.
Well, actually, it's so funny that we're even talking about this.
On August 22nd, that card sold for $1,300.
Wow.
And before that it was selling for 800, and 800, and 800, and- Any other sales since the 1,300?
I just punched the microphone.
Not since the That was on August 22nd.
No, no sales since then.
Yeah, so, like, that's a card I wouldn't go out and buy and pay 1,300 for.
I don't wanna set the new comp.
So that's what I mean, like- Get arrested I feel like there are, like, some of these that just have not had as much of a bump- Yeah, go buy the PSA 8 that's up 15%.
Yeah, I- Easy.
I guarantee you'll find the same thing with Marino.
Some of the grades have probably gone crazy 'cause there's one sale or two sales.
Like the nine you just said, there's one sale.
Yeah.
Crazy.
Well, the next nine could sell for 800 bucks again.
That's, that is the only thing- Just be careful is, yeah, where- I don't like that we're interrupting voicemail for that.
We're on a real roll here.
I'm just kidding.
I think it's excellent.
Dan Marino.
Jesse is all in on this show.
Um- I hate to break it to you, Ray, he's already told me.
Dan- He likes this show better- and he- Why are you doing this?
What's that?
Why I didn't say that.
When's the last time you cried with Ray?
I didn't say that.
I don't have to cry with Ray 'cause we communicate to the point where we don't have to get to this point.
Oh.
Like an apology for that will all burst.
My last text- All right hang on, let me Don't- I don't have- we don't have to read all this.
This is a fun time for every- Don't- little, little behind the scenes.
Don't- Me and Jesse had a little tift, and like a child that I am- this has become my go-to reaction.
Don't do this.
You're welcome.
Hang on.
My reaction to his text, I lit- I read this back, I was like, "Oh, it's so good."
Oh.
I checked It, all in text message, by the way, 'cause we're both morons.
Yeah.
Phone calls, if you guys wanna have serious conversations, have phone calls.
Well, I tried to have a phone call.
He couldn't take the call 'cause he's too emo- Shut up.
I can't get a long vo- text message.
I just respond with- "Hey, I think it's best at this point you and I just find a way to stop working together.
I'm up for whatever you think is best.
If it's each one of us taking a day on the pod or not, I really don't have a huge preference."
"Just let me know what you wanna do and I'll try to be as accommodating as possible."
Here's the thing.
Here's what's- I, I stand by that, by the way what people don't fully understand is- I haven't changed not the first time I've gotten that text message.
No, and that's why I told him, I, I think- So- I might have been wrong, but at this point I can't keep, I can't keep threatening.
No.
You have to just do it.
Yeah, you, people are gonna believe it.
Now out of spite, the show is done in a month after, out of spite.
I don't care what happens next.
All right.
After, done.
Voicemail.
Next voicemail.
Yeah, Justin Steele calling back.
Uh- Oh, God.
We're calling him.
This is a crap connection.
I don't appreciate it.
He knows better just listened to another clip from the episode where he said he wouldn't shower with somebody in the locker room that's ridden SpongeBob.
That's good.
Let me just start here.
I think you'd be scared to death to step in a big league shower.
I don't think you would, to be quite honest.
Um- I don't wanna be in a shower with a bunch of guys and Larry Walker, pretty good player.
I think he's a Hall of Famer.
Um- Take a hold on.
Pause it, pause it SpongeBob- You're a professional in this sport.
You think he's a Hall of Famer?
The guy won an MVP and he is a Hall of Famer.
What kind of a laughable take is it, J- no, I'm sorry, Justin.
I want to hear what he's saying.
Justin, I'm sorry.
Go back to advocating being in a shower- in a locker room, you creep.
Okay.
He's, he's saying you couldn't handle it in there, just to be fair.
I don't want to.
I don't know what he's handling in there.
I don't wanna be in there.
Here we go.
SpongeBob.
We're SpongeBob 10 the day he got inducted into the Hall of Fame, if I remember correctly.
Oh, the SpongeBob one.
So SpongeBob's kinda legendary.
Not gonna tear his ACL, not gonna get hurt, really funny, still one of the most popular shows on TV.
Mm-hmm.
My son watches it.
Yeah, correct, your son.
Um- Not you yeah, I mean, it's, it's wins all around.
The hate, on the other hand, is a loss for- It's not for the co-hosts.
Just- For the co-hosts seems sour.
Just seems a little sour.
Come, come from places no good, a lot of hate.
You know, I, I pray for people like this, but the shower thing was a little crazy.
It's like, yeah, but would you step in the shower at all?
I think you'd be scared.
I'm fine showering with myself.
I don't need to be- Call him back.
Call Justin.
Are we gonna talk about showering more with him?
No, this is gonna be quick and you hang up 'cause he's preposterous.
What kind of- I'm so uncomfortable about- What, he's a- the topic that we're gonna call Justin Steele about he's not gonna answer.
It's up- Hello?
Does he even work?
The, he's working right now I bet.
Justin?
Did you really call a- Hello?
This is a big show.
You really called to advocate just, just hanging out in a locker room shower?
Again, there has to be And Larry Walker is a Hall of Famer.
76 point- Who- Come on, man who is this?
Hello?
Uncle Leo?
Hello?
Can y'all hear me?
Oh, hey, Justin.
Maybe he's being serious.
Justin, can you hear us?
Oh, God.
Yes, yes, I can hear y'all.
Oh, okay, cool.
Can you hear us now, Justin?
Yes, I can hear y'all.
Let me speak a little bit slower.
I'm sure you're busy with activities, watching shows.
Number one, don't come out as that much of an advocate for showering with guys.
It's just not appropriate.
I understand it has to happen.
We don't have to sit here and sing the praises of it.
Number two, Larry Walker's a phenomenal baseball player, and of course he's a Hall of Famer.
That's it.
I know you're busy with your regiment of training and ripping, whatever you do.
I just, I ju- you know, just a little, just a little, little, little respect is all.
That's all I ask.
Justin, do you have a rebuttal?
Justin's like, "Hello?"
Who is this?
I mean, the, the MLB locker room shower is a sacred place that every MLB player enjoys to be- after a game together.
There's your clip.
Thank you.
Thank you for clarifying.
What's the silliest thing that's ever happened in there?
Nope.
Nope.
Nope.
We don't need How many SpongeBob sponges are in that shower?
Oh, that's a good question.
While these guys are scrubbing each other's backs, you know?
That's what I wanna know.
I don't know how I don't, I think they're called, loofahs.
Yeah, I'll take- So I don't know how many loofahs are in there.
Okay.
Now, loofahs are excellent.
We're not gonna bang on loofahs, I'll tell you that much.
You need a loofah.
Justin, thank you for, again, being a great sport.
When's ag- hey, what's the schedule?
You got a, a start coming up?
What's the deal here, Justin?
When's the next game?
I have a r- I have a, Bridge League game, which is like a AZL game, this Saturday, and then I'm going on rehab assignment.
Where is the game Saturday?
We might wanna pop out.
Arizona.
Yeah, you're- That's not- Yeah.
Dang it not gonna do that.
Dang it.
Yeah, it's, it, it, it's really hot here, so I would not suggest it.
Does the family travel with you?
I, I'm, I'm curious about that.
Do you live in- I have a house here.
I have a house here in Arizona, so my, the, my family's here with me.
Okay.
That's kinda awesome.
All right.
How many states do you have homes in then?
'Cause you got, you live in Mississippi and Arizona.
Do you have one in Illinois?
There's only 31.
Relax.
No, I don't have a, I don't have one in Chicago.
I just rent while I'm in Chicago, so- Smart just Mississippi and Arizona.
Airbnb here in Nashville anytime you want it, pal.
My dad's locked up for a bit, so you have the house to yourself.
You let us know.
I appreciate that.
Hey, same thing for, my house in Mississippi.
It's on the water.
It's on the Gulf Coast.
Biloxi.
Beautiful.
Dude- Biloxi, I re- I recall, right?
You got large mouth bass in that water?
Oh, yeah.
Well, not in the saltwater, but in the ponds just north of it, absolutely.
Baby, I'm coming.
Mike, you coming?
Are we doing this together?
Road trip?
I'm, I stand by what I said.
Donny's still my favorite caller.
Justin's still number two, though.
Justin Steele- Still, absolute silver medalist favorite MLB player.
Yep.
Yeah.
Well, there you go.
calling in today.
I, I appreciate that.
I mean, I'm in the middle of a workout.
Just, I answered the- You look- I answered the phone in the middle of a workout, just to let y'all know.
What are we working on today?
So y'all are special.
I'm working out early.
What are we doing?
We banging some weights?
I'm in the Yeah, I'm in the middle of doing sleds, and then this 1080 machine.
I'm, it's, like, backwards lunges and all kinds of different It's, like, a circuit I'm doing today.
I d- feel like I just popped my ACL again listening to that.
Prediction, Justin Steele will be the biggest pitcher in cards by the end of this year.
Okay.
That is, that is a prediction right there.
Justin, thank you for taking time.
You're a real, a real prof- a consummate professional, sir.
Thank you.
I appreciate it.
All right.
Call anytime.
Love you, buddy.
See you, buddy.
Bye.
See you.
No love you from you, huh?
Interesting.
I didn't know we were saying love you.
He's- Let's do it.
I tell you, the, the, the shower thing is too much.
You gotta- I love the fact that he is- Yeah he is so unaffected by the talk of shower talk that it, that's not a weird thing for him.
Hope he doesn't think I was joking.
There's equity here for you, Justin.
That's a significant offer.
Come on over.
This, I, I don't even wanna talk about what the company's worth anymore.
I wouldn't, I certainly wouldn't talk about it in front of Justin.
Okay.
Lord.
All right, we go to the next voicemail.
All right.
Justin Steele, I'm gonna start buying his cards.
I freaking like this guy.
I don't know.
Plus, our Chicago buddy's getting hired soon.
Which Chicago buddy?
Don't- Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, I guarantee he's a Justin Steele fan.
Can we call him?
Oh, yeah.
Do you have his number?
Don't know.
I'll send it to you in a second.
Let's do another voicemail.
I wanna make one more phone call, and we'll get out of here.
Yeah, 'cause I got a tax appointment at 2:00.
With Taylor?
Yeah.
Okay.
Oh, you should pick up my stuff.
I just got the call.
I got documents back.
Oh, baby, I'm gonna take those documents.
All right.
You want me to hit play or wait?
Hit play.
Hey, how's it going, Mike and Jesse?
This is Eric from Philly.
I'm gonna keep this short.
I was just wondering if you guys think there should be, like, deposit limits slash, like, timeouts on breaker sites such as Fanatics Live and eBay Live as if they're almost like casinos.
Only reason- First off, I just, like, he, he keeps going, and I just wanna add, I just noticed this on Fanatics Live.
I can actually stop someone from bidding for 24 hours.
I don't know if there is- Oh, you can?
Yeah.
Like, as the breaker, I can- I didn't know that like, select you, and I can either mute you, or I can actually cause you to no longer be able to bid for 24 hours.
Huh.
So if anybody's ever like, "Hey, I don't need to buy in anymore," I can do that, but I don't know if that affects every break you're in.
So there probably should be a button for everything.
If you're on Tilt, I'd say come over to SCN Breaks.
We take you on tilt.
That's our motto.
We want you over there.
Catch them on the way down.
He goes, he gives some more example, but I think that's a big part of the question.
It's a, it's a, it's a valid point.
Do I think it should be an option?
Yes.
Do I think it's I struggle with this.
Again, take the fact that we're breakers out of it.
If I want to do something, I'm gonna do it.
Like- I, I think it should be an option 'cause I remember- I guess so.
Why, yeah, why not make it an option?
Actually, yeah, you're right, you're right.
I- I'm rethinking this.
I think- I say, Mike, I say the number again.
When I was a kid, I, I remember, like, I would go online, and I would try and do that.
Mm-hmm.
And there was one time where I, like, I think I deposited some money, and I was just like, "I'm gonna go and try and, and"- Your parents' money or yours?
No, it was my money, but I was- How old were you at the time?
Like, 18 or something.
Like, I was an adult.
Legal age.
Yes.
But, but I also knew I shouldn't have been doing it, but I was like, "You know what?
I'm gonna try it out."
And I realized, like, oh, I don't even have, like, 100 bucks to spend, but I put in 100, and I lost it very quickly, and I was like, "I could get that back.
I'm gonna put it..." And I was, like, there was a thing, a feature of, like, oh, I'm gonna block myself.
I'm no longer gonna be able to do it.
And I was very grateful that, for that option.
I don't know if people are experiencing it the same way with breaking 'cause I haven't gotten to that point, but I'm sure they I know for a fact there are some, so it would be great, in my opinion.
There's no downside to it.
Why not do it?
All right.
One more voicemail?
Well, I was gonna call him unless you- Go ahead you wanna call?
I don't know.
Are we using his name?
I don't know how he want He didn't really wanna be on air or- Chicago friend is what we're gonna call him.
And yeah, we'll go from there.
Our, our Chicago pal.
I don't even know if he's gonna take your call.
He's very busy.
Always busy.
Blows me off all the time.
You've reached the voicemail box- Da, da, da, doo, boo.
All right, one more time.
Give him one more.
You gotta give him two.
It went straight to the voicemail.
That rang once.
He does not care for you.
He did make that comment after the He said that.
He's like, "Yeah, tall guy, hate him."
I was like, "All right."
Big fan of Gio, though.
Your dad?
My dad, he loves Geo, yeah.
Of course he does.
Well, not everybody does.
Like that judge.
The judge was very co- Oh, I didn't say for the sentencing.
Judge was pretty funny though.
He was cracking some jokes.
He reminded me of the judge from My Cousin Vinny.
Me and Dad were sitting there quoting it at the same It was interesting.
Yeah, you two Utes in the back.
He's like, "I was gonna give you probo- probation, but- Nobody's answering our calls.
Well, Justin did.
God, I hate Well, Justin answered.
Mm-hmm.
We'll see Justin.
Okay.
Working out.
All right.
That's probably it.
That's fine.
One more voicemail.
We'll call it.
Do you wanna do one more?
Yeah, just I know.
We lost our steam at the end.
The best of one quick plug I will say.
Ebay Live, Saturday night, I'm back with my big singles night.
Oh, yeah.
I'm not doing the Brady one this week, but I made a video we're gonna release next week.
I believe a week from this Sunday we're gonna do, like, 90 Brady slabs.
That collection, the stuff I'm not PC-ing.
You're doing yours at 6:30 PM Eastern or Central Time.
Correct.
I'm 6:00 PM Central Time.
We're both doing I'm doing non-sport, he's doing sport, so easy enough to di- differentiate.
Yep.
Uh- Again, if you're doing a bunch of listings, by the way, use H- use Haystack.
We still work with Haystack, by the way.
I'm not releasing the pictures I take, but yes, we use the Haystack machine.
The lightbox is super easy to use.
You get your listings done.
It saves you time.
Like, that's the biggest thing.
It saves time, and your listings don't look like some buffoon typing on a keyboard.
So we call it a win-win in the business.
Couldn't agree more.
I love it.
I would also- Would you agree less?
I don't think I would.
No, I thought about it.
Um- You just whelmed.
How The, the Haystack system is what I'm auctioning all those cards from.
But I will say that Disney break is still happening.
I was- The $12,000 uh- The- $20,000 one the $20,000 one.
Yeah.
There's 20 spots that have gone, so I'm just like, "Okay."
At this point I'm like, I, I think we're still making this happen.
So if you guys are interested, and you don't even wanna buy in, you just wanna watch, Friday, 5:00 PM is the time I've got it listed at on Fanatics Live, if you guys wanna come over there and check it out.
I thought you were doing it on eBay.
No, no, no.
I- Oh that was, that was an idea, but apparently that was not gonna work out for how I've got it set up.
You wooed.
Got it.
No, it just- That's fine.
You can admit it you can't do the randomization thing, so.
You have to do it yourself, I told you.
You have to have your own system.
I know, and I don't I, I did it with a- You do it on OBS with a shared screen.
I've done it before.
Which I, I know how to.
It's just like- Yeah, yeah it was- You don't know how to do it that well.
I just don't have my OBS in this frigging place.
It's- Where is Patrick?
I don't know.
I know we're feuding, but that's for a sponsor.
Let's l- Can you please follow up Jesse?
I'm gonna hit play on this.
Call Patrick.
Hey, this is Larry calling.
So I collect, Caitlin Clark cards, WNBA, but I was, I was wondering how much should I value, like, how good-looking a WNBA player is.
Look at Larry.
So, like, Caitlin Clark is, like, a 6 out of 10.
Sophie, Sophie Cunningham's, like, an 8 out of 10, but she's not a great basketball player.
I feel so uncomfortable just continuing this.
Here's the on- I'm gonna push back on you here.
La- I've not seen Larry.
I'm just gonna say in Larry's world, Caitlin is a 10 out of 10, as is Sophie.
Like, let's, let's, let's not play games here that Larry is just sitting on the beach somewhere with a six-pack looking beautiful.
I am- Larry, you might be.
I don't know.
I like to be- I am blind to the features of what people look like.
Yeah, yeah.
All I know is I respect them for who they are inside.
My wife's a smoke show- and I like it.
I don't wanna finish.
Finish it.
Or you don't have to.
That's fine.
Next one.
I, I- We can't end on Larry.
Larry, I like the call by the way.
It's a m- A little bit of a shtick.
It I, I think he's joking around.
It You don't know, and that's the, that's the fun part of it.
Larry, make sure you call for our live show.
I kinda wanna finish after that- No, finish, finish it 'cause I think he's kinda done with that after I'm bringing it- And then if you've seen Cameron Brink, she's, like, a total smoke show, but I don't think she's very good.
Took my words.
But do you think in 10, 15, 20 years that people will look at the card and, and say- Oh "Oh, you know, okay, well, this girl, you know, had a better field goal percentage, but, you know, this one's a total babe."
And how does that impact what cards I should be, I should be holding?
I- I, I hope that that's not real.
Like, that can't be a- We're not calling him back, I can tell you that that can't be a real voicemail that, that he actually thinks it.
Hey, people have questions.
By the way, I think people know this, this is a, a comedy podcast.
It's satirical.
We're a comedy podcast.
Everybody can relax.
What I don't need to hear in the comments of Spotify.
Anyways, go ahead.
Good God.
Well, we'll end it on a, on a real voicemail.
Oh, you think?
Hello, I'm Malcolm Scholl out of Troy, Illinois, and I just got into sports cards, and I just pulled a Patrick Mahomes- There we go King All of Kings card, and I have a rookie Fleer Michael Jordan from my dad's collection.
What should I start doing with them?
And should I start a social media account?
Because I have a lot of other cards.
Thank you.
Yeah.
Absolutely start social media.
Dude, show off your cards and cl- connect with other collectors.
Yeah.
What do you do with the Jordan card?
Get it graded.
That card, if or just keep it forever and don't care, don't worry about it, but yeah.
It sounds like he's probably I assume he's wanting to do business stuff, like, based on that.
I don't know.
If you're doing it, like, for any business stuff, then yeah, I would get it graded for sure.
Next time we need a little more context on a phone call.
I would say that.
The fact that you got a Jordan from your dad, way to go.
I tell you what I got from my dad, a bill.
A bond bill.
So you are way up on that one.
Hey, we don't know.
Good for him.
That's great.
He could still get one of those.
Uh- I'm supposed to actually get a refund.
Oh.
They take Here's a win.
Last We'll end on this.
You get your bond.
They take the court costs out of the bond.
It's only a couple hundred bucks.
The fines and all that, which are gonna be thousands- Uh-huh don't come out of the bond money.
So I will actually get, like, two grand, a little over two grand back in bond money.
Okay.
And then he has to work out a payment plan for the fines- Oh which will be, like, 20 bucks a month, but I'm getting my money back.
Oh, that's, I- Pretty exciting that's pretty cool.
I Like, how much was the bond?
Some would argue 2,500.
I just paid up front.
Oh, okay.
You can do the bail bondsman thing.
You pay 10% down.
You do that stuff.
Yeah, yeah.
I just gave him cash at the court.
I didn't know what to do.
Yeah.
I didn't feel comfortable g- walking into Grumpy's Bail Bondsman, which is across the street.
It's a pretty nice thing when you can say, "I didn't know what to do to handle this bail bond."
You'd think at this point in my life I would.
I think every one of the GSFs has been locked up at some point, so that's a consideration.
I don't think you've had to be personally involved in those proceedings though until now.
I spent a night in the Or I spent an afternoon in the Gallatin Jail in 2006 when I got suspended license, got pulled over, got arrested.
Oh, was it an afternoon?
I thought it was just- Oh, no, it was an evening.
I had to go ch- I thought- I had to go fuck myself the next day.
Yeah, okay, okay.
And that's when they kept me.
That's when the prison riot was.
It was amazing.
I've never Yeah.
I was just in the cell hanging out.
We were like, "What's going on here?"
As a man who is 6'4" and- What does height have to do with you being a criminal?
I'm just saying there's a lot of advantages that I get, and one of them is never being arrested.
Also, one of the advantages is just not doing a lot of illegal things.
All right, we're back on Monday with a regular show I think.
Thursday it seems like Joe will be do- football- Football Joe.
I'm gonna tell this.
Joe, I don't know if you're listening or not.
One more crack about the money I have.
If you're gonna say it, at least get it right.
I want- Does he say it?
Yeah, remember he kept on like, "Oh, well, I have multiple houses."
Oh, that's right.
That's right.
I just want the distinction made.
I have a lot of houses.
Jesse has one.
I don't wanna be lumped in with this Not that's an insult obviously.
You take You understand that.
No.
Yeah.
Joe, you're welcome back on Thursday.
We'll have you there.
Looking forward to it, Joe.
Brendan, anything from you?
Did we miss anything, Brendan?
You've been quiet the whole show.
We're all good.
We're all good.
No ad reads today?
Nothing?
We did- Everything's just programmatic?
We did the Haystack.
You already hit Haystack.
We're good.
All right.
Boom.
There's your show.
We'll be back Monday.
Goodbye.
