Goldschmidt on fire in June for Yankees lineup

Who let Paul Goldschmidt find the fountain of youth?
The 38-year-old is on fire this month with a 353 batting average, eight home runs, 21 RBIs, and better than 1,000 OPS through 21 games this month, and has earned himself a spot in the Yankees starting lineup every single day, partially as a result of that hot play.
After being brought in this season really just to be a lefty masher who can offer his sage veteran leadership.
Even more so than this month, Goldschmidt has been one of the league's most productive players on the whole this season.
His 933 OPS is eighth highest among all hitters with at least 200 plate appearances.
That's higher than that of Byron Buxton, Corbin Carroll, or James Wood.
That's partially aided by the fact that Goldschmidt was only starting against left-handed pitchers for most of the season, taking advantage of that platoon advantage, where he has a 418, 500, 823 triple slash, 823 is a slugging percentage, not an OPS, against n- them in nearly 100 plate appearances.
Like I said earlier, he's been everyday player for the Yankees for over a month now, even before Aaron Judge was injured, and has been highly productive as one.
Now, while this is a fantastic story, it would be silly for us to expect Goldschmidt to keep going at this breakneck pace.
He's chasing pitches out of the zone by, by far the worst rate of his entire career, and making less contact in the zone than he did last year, while his bat speed has fallen a good deal since last season as well.
These are not a death sentence.
This doesn't mean you should drop Paul Goldschmidt off your teams right now, but these are not the types of underlying stats we really want to see when looking for reasons why a player is having a renaissance this late in their career.
