Swanson catches fire against the Mets

Cubs shortstop Dansby Swanson right now may be coming off some of the three best consecutive games anyone has ever played in the history of baseball.
Following a Tuesday night game against the Mets and double header on Wednesday, he went seven for 12 with three home runs, one double, one triple, four runs scored, and a jaw-dropping 15 RBIs.
Yes, 15 RBIs in a three-game span that only took two days out of the ninth spot in the Cubs lineup.
He's the first player with 15 RBIs over a three-game span since 2002, and all this production came when it seemed like most of hope was lost for Dansby Swanson at the plate this season.
Heading into the series, he had just 31 RBIs all season and just completed a 30-day stretch, again, heading into play on Tuesday, where he'd only driven in six total runs.
He also entered this series with a 183 batting average and 617 OPS.
Now, following these three games, he has a 202 average and 688 OPS.
Those types of jumps are unheard of about 80 games into a season, and has brought his full season averages to nearly league average, while suddenly being on better than a 20 homer, 90 RBI, and 20 stolen base 162-game pace.
Again, it felt like father time had just about caught up to the 32-year-old Swanson when he'd gone halfway through the season and could not hit the broad side of a bard.
But after this hot streak, his stat line looks completely back to normal, and I guess this is more so a lesson to all of us to always, always defer to the projections, which never, ever quit on Dansby Swanson.
