So edge rusher is definitely a major issue for the Packers right now.
Not only is Micah Parsons recovering from a 20 CL, but they traded away Rashan Gary, and they lost Kingsley Enagbare to free agency.
So right now, outside of Lucas Van Ness, the Packers don't really have much on the edge.
They did sign defensive tackle Javon Hargrave, who's always been a really good interior pass rusher, but he's had just four and a half sacks the last two years.
He's probably on the decline at this stage of his career.
So what do the Packers do now?
Well, they're trying to hold on to their compensatory picks, so they're probably not gonna sign someone like a Jadeveon Clowney or, you know, one of the other top edge rushers like a Kyle Van Noy in free agency.
But ESPN's Bill Barnwell has named a few candidates for the Packers, and none of them are particularly exciting.
One name that stuck out to me was former New England Patriots pass rusher Anfernee Jennings, who-- which I hesitate to even call him a pass rusher because he had just seven and a half sacks his entire NFL career since entering the league in 2020.
But he was cut by the Patriots, and because he was released, the Packers wouldn't lose a comp pick by signing him.
So that's the kind of move they might have to make here to get some depth behind Van Ness and until Parsons gets back.
Now, they could always address the position in the NFL draft, but keep in mind, they don't have a first-rounder this year, and they also have a massive need at cornerback.
So it's gonna be really tough for the Packers to address these needs here without signing anybody, and, you know, Brian Gutekunst is playing the comp pick game, and it's ve-very frustrating for Packers fans.
And I can understand why it's been so frustrating, because they're trying to-- w-by making the Parsons trade last year, you signaled you're in win now mode, but now you're trying to hold on to these comp picks, and it's gonna make things very difficult for Green Bay heading into 2026.
